It's because Shinichi loves Ran too much to tell her his worst secrets. He only talks to Haibara about all the, uh, super genius stuff because they're kinda in the same boat with the shrunken bodies and such. He also knows that Haibara understands the Organization, so he can get advice about them from her. The only thing that keeps Shinichi from telling Ran is his fear that she'll be hurt or killed if he's ever found and she's revealed to know everything.

KKLT, I MOSTLY agree with your idea :3 Except I only think that Yuusaku and Toichi were the Boss's kids but they ran off for some reason, and Shinichi and Kaito are their own kids (respectively).

I tried to watch it with the Chinese subs but I can't read Chinese fast enough... I had to keep pausing it every time the dialogue changed -___- I gave up about halfway through part 1... but it seems pretty interesting from what I can understand :3
