  1. What is with this series picking nothing but junk lately for these openings and endings? I'm not making a "lol music sucks these days" joke because we've certainly had some damn good stuff in recent years (Can the show PLEASE pick-up another Hundred Percent Free song for this series?) but then you get a bunch of garbage like Caos Caos Caos and what feels like the 700th song written by Daigo.

  2. Hello there, folks, it's time for:

    SPECIAL PODCAST NEWS

As I said on the last podcast, we will be doing a live edition of the Detective Conan World Podcast. Well, let me tell you the details.

For those that have been wanting to listen to the show live as it's being recorded, this Friday, April 27th, will be your chance!! We will be doing our podcast live on LiveStream, and if you guys ask us questions through the LiveStream chatbox, or even send us some comments, we'll most definitely read them out loud on the air~ <3

If you're unable to attend the live episode, then that's perfectly fine!! We'll be releasing the mp3 of the episode as usual once it's finished recording, as well as be putting it up on the Studio section of Detective Conan World via streaming. However, if you attend the live show, you'll possibly hear bits that we don't end up putting into the mp3 release, as well as other interesting anecdotes.

Also, another big announcement. We have a guest planned for this show. A guest that has never been on the show before, and someone that all of you know very well. We will have none other than Kyuu, DCTP Staff Member and Forensics expert on the show. Kyuu will be joining us for discussions about Detective Conan, and will possibly share his extensive forensic science knowledge with us as well!! Also, if you have any specific questions you'd like to ask Kyuu, send me a message via here on DCW through my PM box, Twitter, or Tumblr, and there's a chance that we shall use it on the air!!

The live podcast will set-up shop on April 27th, 2012, at 8:00 PM EST. If you want to see how that pertains to your time and timezone, check out this link and see what time this means you'll have to be online to see the livestream: Click me!!

A few hours before the show, check this thread for the link to the actual livestream, and you'll see the video wall as well as chatbox for you to participate in. This will be the chatbox that we'll read messages off of on the air, so if you've got any questions of discussion that you want to contribute while we're doing the show, feel free to get your word in!!

We hope to see you there!!

  3. And the good news is, CarpetCrawler, Mohorovicic and Parkur will have one least person to get on their nerves.

For the record, the last time any of the moderators had any issues with you on here was January of 2011, and you've been on good behavior since then.

The door is always open for you to come back if you ever decide to do so. For a lot of people, some time off is essentially what they need, and then they return and their batteries have been recharged.

RE: the small "DCW is not the same" discussion, I think MadelineLime sums it up best:

You get what you put into it.

  4. Today, April 10th, is the third anniversary of none other than Detective Conan World!! It's so shocking how much of a long way we've come. Three years ago on this date, Maurice started up a little website that had a tiny forum and an even tinier wiki. Originally the main page was in a blog format, but it wasn't until later that Maurice changed everything to what most of you know now. I still remember the original forum layout we had, back when the only active folks here were me, Maurice, Southpaw, and lashedcheek. What an amazing difference three years makes. It wasn't long before we received recognition on other places, including support from The Detective Conan Translation Project, especially from Jd-, who has given me lots of moral support from even when the place first started out, and has lent a helping hand in many of our projects (with the favor returned from DCW to DCTP as well).

Hard to believe that in three years, we've gotten so many excellent projects completed on this little website:

    - Two translated chapter works by Gosho Aoyama (one of them an un-translated Magic Kaito chapter that, with our help, finally got the release it deserved, and another work is the original Magic Kaito prototype)

    - This incredible fan-community. The little forum that could, its active-ness putting this community into the upper-level in the Detective Conan fandom.

    - An amazing wiki that is full of excellent and organized information, including theories and analysis, that just keeps growing as the days go by.

    - The podcast that I work on with the help of so many other people, a podcast that is gaining tract in the fandom and popularity amongst many folks from all places. And that's not even counting tons of other things that are in the works here at DCW!!

I would most like to thank Maurice though. Without Maurice, this website isn't even a website. While Maurice may not be as active on this forum as he used to be, he still drops in to check if things are alright, and still works hard to add features and exciting new things to this little community here.I would just like to thank all of you for supporting the site through Facebook, Twitter, the wiki, our podcasts, and other places!! Keep up the support and keep sticking with us, because, as Frank Sinatra once so beautifully put it:

    You ain't seen nothin' yet

The best is yet to come, and babe, won't it be fine

Thank you for your support, from all of us at Detective Conan World!!

  5. Sometimes I feel like Gosho is too afraid to finish Magic Kaito because he wouldn't making it on-going like Detective Conan and it would make the really rabid MK fans really mad. Because let's face it, it's not a series that can last all that long in the first place. If it was, believe me, Gosho would be writing it more often than he does.

  6. Pay attention to what it says:

"The character appears in all of the chapters except for 216 as listed below."

It is SUPPOSED to list those cases. What the template is doing is subtracting those cases so that it can create the final number. This was implemented by Maurice because it would be painstaking to list all 582 chapters that she does appear in.

So basically, you're messing with the number and putting in incorrect information. Please let me know what other appearance pages you've edited that have this parameter set, because you may have removed information from those as well.

  7. I was just using the people on this site as an example XD I'm just saying is that if you make a story and an interesting premise, people are going to get bored if you don't refer to that interesting premise much. I think this is probably the reason the BO appeared so much at the start of the manga, Aoyama probably wanted to keep people interested to keep the manga in the magazine. If people got bored quickly the series would be at risk of ending quickly.

The reason why the Black Organization appear so much early on is because, like I said above, no one (not even Gosho) had any idea that it would be 2012 and this series would still be running. The original series was to have enough chapters to make four volumes, but once the series caught enough steam and Gosho had enough ideas, it just kept going.

  8. Why not overuse them? Most people on this site love cases that involve the BO. They make you feel like you're actually going somewhere with the story.

I don't even think most people on this site were alive in 1996.

And to be fair, in 1996 no one had any idea that it would be 2012 and the series would still be continuing today.
