  1. ... That is quite interesting news.

I'm actually more than a little OK with Gosho Aoyama nixing the idea of Kaitou Kid being involved with any Black Organization cases and plots. I feel like no matter how much Kaitou Kid fangirls want it, it would be written and executed poorly. It's just not a smart idea if you don't want backlash from people that pay enough attention to the series to ask certain kinds of questions and find certain kinds of plot holes. Just wouldn't work at all.

Not surprising that we won't be seeing anything Black Organization-related until 2014, but how unfortunate. And the series snails its way to the neverending finish line.

  2. The podcast should be coming out this weekend!! Delays abound due to certain people (Read: CarpetCrawler has been a holiday zombie this month) being really busy due to the holiday season. However, now we're back on track and should be ready to release it. <3

Until then, here's a little early present for those that missed the LiveStream!! Here's a snippet of some of the good stuff that you missed out on. Skyechan set up a game of Yamamura Hangman for the listeners!! Check out the video here:

Until then, keep your eyes peeled for the actual .mp3 release!! <3

  3. (Incidentally, the only reason I am here right now is because the stats on the malware downloads indicate it stopped a couple days ago, and I heard it was a rogue script which I know how to block.)

That would be why I tried to update people via Twitter and Facebook about the situation as much as I could, but I guess it only works if people have those said social networks.

I second Chek's decision here. It is absolutely a shamfully dick move to remove players from a game when the site was being blocked by Google and FireFox (and at some points, shut down by Maurice) for malware issues. I would hope anyone who participated in such a decision would use better judgement in the near-future.

  4. *posted this to Facebook, figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to post it here too*

There are users on Google Chrome who are saying that DCW is being blocked on their browser. I contacted Maurice and he said that the ad that is making Chrome flare up is what he will look into and try to remove it. Until then, I personally recommend installing one of the Google Chrome Adblock extensions (I recommend Adblock Plus), that way when you browse the site you don't load up any of the offending advertisements in question, making DCW OK to access while Maurice checks the issue out.

You can bypass the warning by clicking "Advanced" and then clicking "Proceed at your own risk". There are people that don't have Adblock Plus that just go on the site anyway and aren't having any problems, but I would recommend using something like Adblock Plus.

    Thank you for your patience.

  5. I'm sure Gosho likes money like most people, but authorhood doesn't give you the power you think it does. It's likely the anime team and shogakukan have as much say in movies as Gosho does. The publisher holds most of the power (especially at first, remember they told Gosho to write a detective story to compete with Kindaichi), so it would be legally normal for Gosho to have signed over most of his rights to Detective Conan in a contract to be able to publish in Shounen Sunday. Think of the usual contract terms for books and songs. Why would manga be different? Remember, the magazine and the anime team get money for DC movies too. I'm sure Gosho saying no would be important (and they would listen to him) because the publisher and anime team respect him for his work done so far and don't want him to get upset and stop writing, but it would probably damage Gosho's standing somewhat and make negotiations for salary and assistants and all that other jazz a little harder. (well, if we had the money from a movie we could offer you ¥X, but...) Gosho doesn't want that or to spend precious time arguing, so he has the incentive to go with the flow.

... which is the long form version of what I've said, but A-OK with someone explaining it in long form so I don't have to.

  6. Do we get to see your face? I'm sure that all your fans including me would really like that.

The podcast budget doesn't call for vomit bags for every listener, so that won't be happening unfortunately.

CC's face is already all over the internet

Come on Parkur, one look at this guy's episodes and you know that this guy is me in every single facet of life:

  7. The movie guys are following the age-old advice in entertainment: stick with what you know. Hence Ran is in danger almost all the time.

Doraemon's 34th movie will be coming out in march and there's no sign of it stopping any time soon. If Conan ends up going the Doraemon route, which IMO is likely, and if the movies continue to bring in as much cash then there's no reason why they wouldn't continue on and on and on and on with the movies.

This. It is absolutely likely. I've been saying for years personally that once the series ends don't sell the idea of the movies still going short. It's a very real and very possible idea.

  8. For me it's more a plus point, since he decided to go for one woman in the end and not for both :V

Except he still went out with both at the same time.

Look at it from Jodie's perspective once Shuu told her, point-blank, how hard it was to love two women at the same time. You don't say that to someone you're dating.

  9. Hi, folks~! Hope you're having a decent holiday season and not spending a good chunk of it so far moving (moving sucks dudes). Anyway, the holiday podcast is a-comin' and we will have lots to discuss in the world of Detective Conan!! Fellow anime podcaster yamiangie will be a guest, and I imagine other than Conan we'll be discussing things like podcasts and the works.

The show will go live at 8 PM (or at least I will, since you know how long our warm-ups can go sometimes) EST on December 7th, 2012. For those who are wondering what the time will be in their time zone, here is a nifty little website that can show you what the time will be in your area, or the area nearest to ya'~!

We're going to have a LOT to talk about, as I said, so I imagine this podcast will be super huge even once it's edited for the .mp3 release. Not only that, I can definitely seeing it lasting for a few hours, so if you're worried about missing anything (whether you have to miss the show or go to bed at a normal time like a normal person), don't worry, as anything important will be in the audio file once it's released.

We will be on LiveStream once again. I don't expect us to be filled at the cap of 50 people due to holidays and the like, but I'm hoping we can get a good crowd for this one. There will be listener interaction and the like, and maybe more, who knows, depends on what we can get worked out with certain peeps~ Either way, should be another fun night!! Hope to see you guys there!!

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

    Will there be Santa hats?

I will personally be wearing a Santa hat, so take solace, troubled questioner!! Listeners are free to bring their own Santa hats.

Will I be able to send in questions for the show to answer?

Absolutely!! The mailbag is always open and we're always happy to have people send us questions.

    Where's the LiveStream link?

It will be posted in this thread the day of the show, and also check Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook as well!!

  10. They shouldn’t even mention that Ran’s life is put in danger anymore since that happens in every single movie. It’s not like it’s a surprise or all that suspenseful anymore in that regard. You should come to expect it, like with Agasa’s Shitty Quiz.

The movie doesn’t look nor sound too interesting so far, but I’ll refrain from further judgement until I see how it looks when the trailer comes out.

  11. With the latest Shonen Sunday comes the latest news about the new movie. We now have more information than ever about it, hence I shall start this new topic here.

The title of the movie will be Private Eye in the Distant Sea, it will debut on April 20th, 2013, and will take place on a vessel, via Anime News Network:

The movie is set on a state-of-the art Aegis vessel with the full cooperation of Japan's Ministry of Defense and Maritime Self-Defense Force. The heroine Ran is put in jeopardy, and Conan is forced to stand up against a dangerous criminal.

  12. Ladies and gentlemen, wanted to let you know that while we aren't doing a podcast in November, I do have some exciting news. Our next episode of the podcast, which will record this December, will be our second ever LIVE episode of the series!! For anyone that remembers our first live show, it'll be the same kind of thing, but there will be more things that feature you listeners (... well technically wouldn't it be viewers?) as well.

More details will come out in the near future, but for now, sit tight for any further news. <3
