Okay, so I've downloaded this episode, and I decided to make a review of it (because Kyuu kinda influenced me ). I am also a fansubber (not Detective Conan, sorry... XD ) so I know how things go in subbing an anime. First is the audio and video quality of the episode that you subbed: - So you've said that it is in HD. Well, it isn't. Why? Because when I've checked the video's properties, the size of the video is 640x480, which is very far from 1280x720 (also known as HD) and 1920x1080 (also known as Full HD or Blu-ray version), which also explains the small file size of 103 MB. HD versions, based on DCTP's releases, have a file size of around 350 MB. HD videos, when viewed on an HD computer or TV, should occupy the whole screen, whether it's just HD or full HD. But, in my laptop with an HD screen, when I watched yours, that's not the case. - Surprisingly, the bit rate of the video is 7000 kbps, while the audio is 128 kbps, but they weren't evident on the episode. Why is that? - And check your video at 10:04 part. This explains why your version has a length of only 13:25. It should've been around 24-25 minutes. Second, the subtitles: - The font size of your subtitles are very large that they reach 3 lines most of the time (I even saw one that reached 4 lines!) and are very distracting. - Also, the color of the font blends poorly with the video, which actually made my eyes burn, LITERALLY. Also, the timing of each subtitle and the voice is way off, which made me not understand what the hell is actually happening in the episode. - There are some parts that you haven't placed any subtitle on it. - WHY IS THERE A PART IN THE EPISODE THAT THE SUBTITLES COVERED THE VIDEO LITERALLY YOU COULDN'T ALMOST SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING ANYMORE?? Why don't you try watching a DVD with subtitles and see how they look. Almost all subtitles reach 1-2 lines. There are also 3 lines, but it only happens very, very, very rarely. Third, the quality checking of the video: Obviously, you haven't done it. Period. My overall impression and opinion: The audio and video has poor quality even though they have a surprisingly high bit rate, the subtitles are crappy, and there was no quality checking of the episode. And it's pretty darn evident that you've sacrificed quality over speed. I agree on what Kyuu said, "You've beaten XCHKS in terms of low quality fansubs." If you don't know the difference, download an episode subbed by XCHKS, watch it, then compare it with other fansubbers' versions. I mean, why are you trying to prove to anyone, that you can release an episode faster than DCTP by using a technique called "speed-subbing", if that's what you really did, with the same quality as that of DCTP's and other DC fansub groups? If you have other people that would help you aside from you and your Japanese friend, we could've believe it. But, you haven't mentioned any, which made me and other people here doubt about it. Yes, you've released Episode 645 before DCTP did, BUT DID YOU EVEN CHECK if everything's good, like the quality of the raw episode that you've got, the translations, the subtitles and their timings, and the quality of your finished product? I, for example, have subbed an episode of an old anime since I haven't found any English-subbed versions of it. You know how long it took me? Believe it or not, 8 days--1 day for finding the raw episode with the highest quality, 5 days for translating, encoding the translations, and setting the timing of each subtitle, then 2 days for encoding the final video and QUALITY CHECKING for any flaws in the product. If there are errors, I fix the errors, re-encode the final video, and PERFORM QUALITY CHECKING AGAIN until the final output is free of errors. Do you know HorribleSubs? They take at least one week before they could release an episode of Fairy Tail, usually every Saturday. Yes, they take a while, but their finished product is excellent, just like DCTP. My point is, subbing is not like what you did--translate, put them into the video, encode the video, don't check the finished product, then distribute. Subbing is like this--find a raw episode that has the highest audio and video quality possible, translate the words, then refine and organize them to form a clear sentence without changing the original thought, type them into the video, set the timing, animations (if applicable) and the color of the subtitles (so that it would blend nicely with the video), prepare the video for encoding by setting the optimal audio and video quality (not the highest, but still acceptable), then encode the video, perform QUALITY CHECKING by watching the final product to make sure that there are no errors, then, finally, distribute it. Sorry for the long post, but not what the post says, but I just need to get it out of me.6 points

1) this question has been asked numerous times before. Using the search that is on every page would likely lead you to the answer you are looking for. 2) Asking on DCW, whom has had lawyers approach them before is not a good idea. Distribution of Conan is illegal, and thus merely linking can have lawyers appear again. 3) Ignoring 1 and 2, using Google would lead you to the answers that you are looking for. Please use the tools available to you to answer such questions in the future. Thank you.2 points

So I've started doing my own DC Rewatch mini-project in which I post on my Tumblr about each episode as I watch them. So far I've gotten the first 6 episodes done and hope to finish up to 10 this weekend. This project will continue until I've caught up on episodes (and therefore will simply be called DC Watch at that point, lol). Check it out if you're interested! http://skyedream75.tumblr.com/tagged/detective-conan-rewatch1 point

I stay well clear of the anime for anything important because the anime botches and overlooks an incredible number of minor important details. You can tell if the pages are flipped by noticing the panels read left to right.1 point

Yeah... No topic ever warrants 3 topics... ever. It just doesn't. Edit your post, add stuff to the current... Something... We don't need duplicate threads ever, they provide no benefit to anyone, and only serve to annoy because it breaks up the discussion. Now! On to what I think about this whole thing! Keep in mind this is all my opinion. First! I have no idea the demand for a DCW Wiki app. I cannot imagine it being too high, unless you have a group of friends that you debate with in person over DC with. The only people I can see who would need it are those who use their mobile phones a lot and are always on the go. But really, for most purposes Wikipedia serves most for their wiki needs on the go (and their mobile app is just lovely). I personally do not see the need for it. NEXT! That trailer... My reaction: Sorry, I couldn't resist. I've literally been waiting for an opportunity to use that clip! Seriously... We saw nothing of its functionality (and I'll get to that in a bit). A trailer is supposed to excite and highlight the key elements or at least the most exciting things. It is an interest builder. It really didn't do that. You need to show off what sets your app apart from just going to the actual site on your mobile browser. THIRD! The app itself (this will be a two parter)... From the trailer: It looks like its a zoomed in portal to the desktop site. That is it. No offense to you, but... that isn't good design for a few reasons. First is that, DCW especially, is very image intensive, that means high bandwidth. So those people with data limits will be at higher risk of using up their allotted data. Second is that it was obviously designed with desktop in mind. This makes it cumbersome to use efficiently as an app. Lastly... it isn't intuitive nor integrated into the Android ecosystem. Basically, what should be an actual wiki app, is just a glorified bookmark. My suggestion... Ask around at how to convert a wiki into a mobile format for an app. The trailer also failed to show what separated it from just a bookmark widget linking to the DCW wiki. Native editing capabilities, integrated search bar... nothing of that degree was shown (the latter is the kicker though, most wiki apps don't allow for editing but all that I have seen and used had some sort of search function) From what I found on the internet (that site where you can post demos of apps and make them downloadable or not) (this will be short, and I am also assuming its the same app) The DC Fan app I believe you called it... The wiki part is confirmed to what I thought, and really should be redesigned to a mobile format. The other two things on there... the video and manga... needs to be removed. That is violating copyrights, as well as the Market policy. It is not good. I hope you take my suggestions in stride and show an updated app that makes sense for a mobile platform. Scrolling should really be only up and down, not side to side. There are many ways to go about it, and you should find the best method that suits you and your programming and design style. As it stands, having a bookmark widget will do the same as your app. Best, Kyuu1 point

Ticked, Boss man destroys the fake Blue Birthday as Kid throws the real jewel ala a baseball smack into the Boss's face and then explains how the real jewel has a police transmitter on it. "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I----", oh sorry, wrong show. Kid then loudly proclaims that he won't stop until he finds Pandora before Snake and the others do and destroys it. The police arrive, Kid and the others split. Nakamori recovers the real jewel. Woo. "LET'S PARTY!" = "LET'S GET DRUNK!!" Realizing he only has a few minutes before midnight and the end of Aoko's birthday, Kaito, still dressed in his Kid outfit, scrambles around the city before getting a bit of inspiration while looking at buildings. Kaito calls Aoko only to have her, of course, shout at him and cry from frustration and worry. Luckily, Kaito manages to convince Aoko to look outside the window. Allowing Kaito to give Aoko a really cool one-of-a-kind magic show/birthday present. ...That wakes up the whole neighborhood. ...Including a certain little detective. Meanwhile... "Blue Birthday...Isn't someone's birthday today...?" Now for the completely original section of this episode and it's a doozy. Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like we're heading for an anime original plot! Snake's boss seems to be answering to a bigger boss judging from what I'm assuming is an apology video chat for screwing up royally. MK-Anokata seems to be based somewhere in America (anyone recognize the skyline? Chicago or New York maybe?) and makes a note to contact another member known as Spider, hinted at being the world famous illusionist, Guner von Goldberg II. (EDIT: Probably an misspelling and should be "Günter" (ギュンター = GYUNTAA) based on the Japanese subtitles on the screen.) And so ends yet another Kid special. Until next time!1 point
