They learn that Shukichi Haneda had also been to the restaurant and left just before the three suspects arrived. Yumi confesses that she indeed ran into him that night, but didn't mention it because she didn't want him to get involved. Conan suggests that Yumi calls Shukichi, since he has very good memory, and ask if he had notice something about the culprit. At the same time, Masumi decides to call her smart brother too. Since he is also a regular at the Ramen restaurant, he might have seen the three suspects. Yumi reaches Shukichi, but before she can ask him, he puts her on hold to answer another call. Meanwhile, Masumi gets through to her brother, but he says that he is talking to an important person on the phone and asks Masumi to call him later, and then hangs up. Then, Yumi finally gets to talk to Shukichi. Shukichi says the person was making a weird sound with every step they took; "Click... Click...," After hearing that, Conan and Masumi figure out what it actually means.

<spoiler>Conan and Masumi arrive later at Ramen Ogura just after Sosuke Mizushina does. A couple then arrives, as well, and they start discussing the murder-robbery case. They begin to unravel the trick with Conan and Masumi's help, explaining in detail how a spinning rubber hose could be used as a vacuum pump. They imply indirectly that Sosuke Mizushina is actually the culprit, which prompts him to run to the bathroom and look for the glass shards that he had retrieved with the hose vacuum trick and had hidden in the toilet water tank. Suddenly, Masumi kicks the door in and the couple show him an arrest warrant, revealing themselves to be Takagi and Sato in disguise. It turns out that the one million yen earrings were in the soy sauce and Mizushina was trying to retrieve them by coming back to the shop and using as much sauce as he could until he found them.
The culprit is Sosuke Mizushina.

As Mizushina is arrested, Masumi suddenly leaves and Ogura tells Conan that he wasn't able to give her her handkerchief back. It had the name "Mary" embroidered on it, which is the reason why he kept calling her "Mari", because he didn't know English very well and didn't know the correct pronunciation for the name was "Mearī". Conan thinks that Mary is the unknown child's name, but he then considers the option that it could be Masumi's real name. He does recall a certain Mary in his memories, but can't remember exactly who she is.</spoiler>
