Kaitou Kid (怪盗キッド Kaitō Kiddo, lit. Phantom Thief Kid) is the secret identity of the main character in the manga and anime franchise Magic Kaito, and a recurring character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan. A so-called "gentleman thief" known for issuing advance notices prior to his heists and never having fired a gun while operating, he first appeared eighteen years ago in Paris, coinciding with the retirement of another renowned thief, the Phantom Lady. Wearing a white dress suit flunked with white gloves, a top hat, and a monocle, he makes flashy entrances using his Hang Glider Cape. The identity was first assumed by world-class magician Toichi Kuroba, who quickly made the phantom thief famous for the unbelievable jewel heists he could pull off. Ten years prior to the timeline, Kaitou Kid stopped being active after Toichi was seemingly killed during a stage show by a mysterious criminal organization, who saw him as being in the way of their quest to find Pandora, a gem said to grant immortality. After Toichi's assistant Konosuke Jii briefly assumed the role, Kaitou Kid is currently embodied by high-school student Kaito Kuroba, the son of Toichi. Determined to find the truth behind his father's death, Kaito has brought the name of Kaitou Kid to new levels of fame across the world. Kaitou Kid's current arch-nemeses are the private sleuths Conan Edogawa and Saguru Hakuba, along with "almost successful" police inspector Ginzo Nakamori. Read more...
