During the reconstruction of the traditional house inn, the inn hostess found a strange safe, so she called in two experts to check it out: The antique appraiser Seiji Kawabata and the secondhand dealer Shinya Kadokuya, who brought in their friend Ippei Zaizen. At 7:38 p.m, the Mouri family, the inn hostess, Kadokura and Kawabata are eating their dinner, when suddenly, Kogoro has to go to the restroom. After finishing his needs in the restroom, he hears a sound of a coin falling from the room nearby, he tries to ask Zaizen if it is him, but gets no answer.
At 8 p.m, Kogoro has already fallen asleep and Zaizen has not shown up yet. However, when the hostess turns off the light to have the rest to have a look at the moon, everyone starts noticing the weird light that looks like a fire in Zaizen’s room.
