Situation
Takahiko Kamiyu, a literary critic, entrusted Kogoro with the responsibility of looking after the house and taking care of his anxious cat for three days while he visited the countryside. Even though he previously thought the request did not benefit formal detective work, Kogoro still accepted it due to the high payment. On the first day of the sitting:
- Genseki Ishiba comes to the residence to find Kamiyu. He wants to settle the critics' fight that was interrupted a few days ago.
- One hour later, a magazine editor Sachiyo Kafuka comes to apologize to Kamiyu for complaining about the literary review he gave yesterday. Kamiyu praised So Fujieda’s work in yesterday's review, which is the opposite of what he usually does and what the readers expect.
