    Plot

Conan is reading newspaper and complaining about how there are alway some cases going on. Agasa, who was working on a glass, tells him that his detective skill will come in to use, to which Conan sulkily replys that Kogoro took all the credit anyway. Agasa then finished working on Criminal Tracking Glasses and Transmitter and give it to Conan, who is delighted.

Later, a distressed high school girl Masami Hirota appears in Mouri Detective Agency in the late evening. She asks Kogoro to find her father, mentioning that he has been missing for a month. He moved to Tokyo for work but quitted his taxi job, and she has been taking a break from her high school in Yamagata to search for him. After Kogoro takes the case, she gives her father's information: the name Kenzou Hirota, his height, his age, and his photo holding a black cat. When asked, she tell Kogoro her father has 4 cats named Kai, Tei, Gou, and Ou. Kogoro continues talking to Masami while Conan wants to test his new gadgets by sticking the transmitter on Ran, who is serving tea. However, he trips on the heater's cord and falls on Masami, making the transmitter sticking on her wrist. Masami then leaves with a promise to called every day
