Atsuya Miura (三浦 厚也 ,Miura Atsuya) is a Japanese animation director and character designer. He takes part in the production of the Detective Conan anime and movies.

Biography

Atsuya Miura was originally associated with Tatsunoko Production's Anime Technology Research Studio. He was first credited in September 1986 in episode 18 of Hikari no Densetsu, as in-between animation. In 1989, he was credited for the first time as in-between director for the remake of The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee. In 1990, he started working with Tezuka Productions, and was credited as key animation for the first time, in Mitsume ga Tōru. He later left Tezuka Productions and became closely associated with Telecom Animation Film and TMS Entertainment. He was credited as animation director for the first time in 2005, in anime series Kotencotenco, although he most likely was a director in other episodes of the series but remained uncredited. His style is caracterized by round drawings and the prevalence of distorted figures, making him known for animating comical scenes.

Miura was credited for the first time in Detective Conan in January 2000, performing key animation in episode 177. He would animate two more episodes in that year before disappearing and only returning in 2004, as key animation in movie 8. He would be a part of the production team of most movies from then on, as key animation. He returned to the anime production team in January 2020, as assistant animation director in episode 965, with brief stints in 2005, 2015 and 2018 as key animation. He would become a recurring sub-character character designer starting in August 2022, for episode 1053. He would leave the anime production team shortly after again, after episode 1072, which aired in February 2023.
