Kogoro received a request from a Ginza barmaid working in Beika to find her missing armadillo. The woman recalled that her pet went missing on their way home around the Birinmon Bridge. There is also a fish market near the bridge, so she was certain that he (the armadillo is a male) must be there at the moment, but she was also worried that the fish wholesalers could’ve slaughtered him for meat.

A barmaid in Ginza asked Kogoro to investigate a missing armadillo belonging to a barmaid. He went to Birinmon fish market to ask the wholesalers if they saw Armadillo.

At the Birinmon Fish Market, Kogoro recalls his conversation with the barmaid to the tuna wholesaler to explain why he was looking for an armadillo in a fish market. The wholesaler holds his big knife and says: So you mean Birinmon Fish Market slaughtered the animal for meat? He warns the detective that they are all honest fish wholesalers before spraying water on Kogoro’s face to chase him off. Same thing happens with three more tuna wholesalers, even though only Kogoro is the only one to get sprayed.

Frustrated, Kogoro and Conan decide to go home using the taxi that just arrives. Inside the taxi, the driver reveals himself to be one of Kogoro’s fans, to the point where some may feel uncomfortable, but Kogoro has no problem with this, and asks the driver to take any route home without hasting. This reminds the driver of a pair of brothers he picked up yesterday, and to thank Kogoro for using his services, he decides to take Kogoro and Conan to the route that the brothers guided the driver to. The driver recalls that the two brothers didn't pay right when they walked out, but they reassured him that they'd pay later, and actually kept their promise. Kogoro did not hear this detail and maybe some others as he fell asleep midway, and the first thing he does when he wakes up is to find a public restroom.
