Beautiful Fins is Spitz's first official single since "Yasashii Ano Ko" (優しいあの子) released in June 2019 and since "Daikōbutsu" (大好物), released in November 2021 as a limited-edition single[1]. It was announced as the theme song of Movie 26 on March 1st, 2023[2], while the promotional ad for Movie 26 aired first on February 28th, with the song playing between the 41st second and the 85th second[3]. On March 8th, it was announced that it will be released as a CD single on April 12th, and as part of their 17th studio album "Himitsu Studio" (ひみつスタジオ) on May 17th[4].
The digital version came out on April 10th, along with the official music video, directed by Daigo Matsui and featuring actresses Moka Kamishiraishi and Eri Fuse[5],[6]. The studio album released in May of the same year also featured a short movie previewing the song ; it was title "Okogamashii Hire" (烏滸がましい鰭)[7]. The song was used again in a May 15th commercial commemorating the 10 billion yen in sales for "Black Iron Submarine"[8]. It was performed live the same on the TV programme Count Down TV Live! Live![9].
By July 5, 2023, the song was streamed more than 100 million times according to the Billboard Japan Charts, and on November 16, it passed the 200 million streams[10],[11]. It peaked at first in Oricon's Rock Songs and Anime Songs charts[12] and reached 2nd on Billboard Japan's weekly Hot singles[13].

I know, these failures that amount to more than 100, that would even move Darwin to tears, are the foundation of a unique evolution, right?
I will never forget that day, in the middle of small planets falling like raindrops...
The flows have drifted us so far now, But in the end, let's fight back with our beautiful fins. Because, even if there were nights when I was broken, I don’t want to lose myself-
In such a surprising development, I held on to my stumbling feet, and took a sip of cold water.
I'm a worrier, and actually, I'm about to be pushed to my limits, but I've got the hang of it and I've lived.
Thanks for keeping my secret. Don't hold back, you can let it go now...
The flows have drifted us so far now, But in the end, let's fight back with our beautiful fins. Because, even if there are times when we are separated, I want to think of you without losing sight of you―
I can't keep up putting on a tough act forever, I know, I can't go on like this forever, I know, but I still want to paint a kinder world...
The flows have drifted us so far now, But in the end, let's fight back with our beautiful fins!
Because, even if there were nights when we were broken, I don’t want to lose ourselves-}}
壊れる夜もあったけれど 自分でいられるように}}
