  1. XD Sorry. It made no sense when I rethought it since you guys wouldn't have her address (and neither should I...or do I?). Who knows? One of you could unlock information that leads to the residence.
  2. Moderater Note Alright! Since you've all decided to split off into groups, I've got a couple of suggestions for where you can go. When you arrive at a location, wait before entering. A mod will describe the scene for you. Here's a brief summary to get you some information. They will also give you names of people you can talk to. When you question certain people, you may receive information about another location. Those who have not received information about a new location will not be able to enter that location unless told by someone who is aware of the location through roleplay. Benford Industries Police Station Maple Leaf Park
  3. "Starling's work place?" Jay echoed. "Sure. That's a good idea. Benford Industries, on 2144 Washington Road in case you forgot. Oh and...make sure to grab something to eat." She smiled at them, handing each of them a few bills. "Try to be back before ten or at least check in with me by then so you don't accidentally wander into Oregon or something. I'm assuming most of you have phones and you're never too far from one around here." Jay frowned. "Were you going to ask me something?" It seemed like everyone had grouped together nicely. Jay took out her smartphone and checked it. "I've got everyone's numbers and you should all have mine. Whatever you do, try not to get yourself killed."
  4. Jay listened to everyone else while they talked about the murder and speculated. A few questions, unsurprisingly, were directed her. Some of Milan's caught her unexpectedly. Jay laughed when Milan suggested that the higher-ups gave her money to gather the DCW members here to solve the case. "Jennifer Starling was standing up," Jay replied, addressing Milan's first question. I saw her feeding pigeons earlier. The rain started and the pigeons flew off, but she didn't seem to mind. She brushed herself off and had a sort of smile on her face. Then she froze and she fell over. The bullet must've hit a major artery because it spurted onto me. There was nothing unusual about her. She just seemed like a pretty normal woman spending her day in the park." Jay took a sip of her ice tea before replying to Milan's other, more informal question. "I have my resources," she said simply. "And honestly most policeman would be reluctant to hire any outsiders or amateurs, regardless of how experienced they appear." The others continued to chat until 5:55 when they began to make their way to the lobby. Jay finished her ice tea and followed them out. Lily caught up to her and asked her a question. "How'd you end up at the crime scene in the short time we got separated?" Jay shrugged. "Everyone was heading towards the rain shelter. I was making sure that everyone was heading over and I saw Starling sitting on the bench. It was odd, she didn't have an umbrella even though rain is a common occurrence here and she was sort of just sitting there. I was wondering what was wrong and started going over when she stood up. Then she was shot and well, you know the rest."
  5. Moderator Note Due to a minor confusion, Hikari-chan's name is now changed from Sophia to Nur. Apologies for any confusion caused.

  7. Police Investigation Report This afternoon at 2:30 PM, Jennifer Starling (age 32) was shot and killed in the middle of Maple Tree Park. Police arrived on scene at 2:34 and sealed off the scene shortly thereafter. Inspector James Sterling has been headed with the case due to its possible link to the Rainman Serial Killings. The bullet that killed Starling was found to be made by the same manufacturer as the bullets used to kill Lilian Rockwell (age 27) two months ago, Bradley Miller (age 48) a month ago, and Philip Fillmore (age 22) last week. Starling was seen at the park for several hours before the shooting by herself. Of the witnesses questioned, the police have yet to find someone who has any connection to Starling. The police are currently investigating the case and urge anyone with any information to step forwards. If any information is found, please call the following hotline. 970-6624 Published on www.seattlepolice.gov at 4:49 PM, July 20th, 2013.
  8. Location: Hotel Cafe You and several others enter the cafe. A few people stay behind, though you're not surprised. You've just been through a shocking ordeal after all. The cafe is nice and air conditioned. There's a long list of things you can order and a couple of booths. There's also a smaller, secluded area with a couple of couches. Jay leads the rest of you there. You observe that she seems much more composed and normal. If you hadn't seen it happen, you would've thought that it had been a completely normal day. ~~~ Moderator Note Not all of you are required to come to the cafe, though I imagine most of you will. ~~~ Jay listened to Heikki's questions quietly and replied easily. "The body was shot on the scene, it wasn't discovered, the woman was simply murdered. Plenty of people ran away. Not everyone wants to stay at a murder scene." Jay's voice was concise and clear, though a little cold. "The rain was fairly loud at the time so it's difficult to say if there was a clear gunshot. A gunshot is louder than most people expect, so it's logical to assume that the killer may have had a silencer. That doesn't tell you much though. There are no suspects and none of you are acquainted with Seattle enough to do much investigating at this point." Jay stood up. "I'll grab everyone some drinks if you guys still want to discuss this." Everyone ordered and Jay headed over to the counter to place the order.
  9. Jay accepted the chocolate from Lily with a thanks. She looked at Milan, who'd asked her if she was alright or not. She tilted her head upwards a little and sat up a little straighter, the orange shock blanket falling off her shoulders. "I'm fine," she said calmly. "I'll live." Her expression cleared, more calm, composed, and a whole lot more closed off. She nodded at L who was approaching. "I'll be alright. Just make sure everyone's here and hasn't run off by accident."
  10. Moderator Note Lovestruck will be joining the group within the next 24 hours. She will be rooming with the two Sophias (AiSuigetsu and Nur). Just a heads up. I have decided that all signups are now officially closed and I will no longer be accepting new applications. Lovestruck is admitted because I neglected to announce this before. And Moho, you're just never in the right place at the right time.
  11. Suspect/Witness #1: Jay Blood splatters on Jay's shirt, her eyes widening as the redheaded woman collapses in front of her. Her umbrella clatters to the ground, the pale blue rolling and soaking in the red. There are screams in the background and people run around in a frenzy. Jay stands there, staring at the woman in front of her. She doesn't move and simply stays put. You're not sure if she's stunned or numb or if she's composing herself or can't handle it. After what seems like forever, Jay takes a few steps backwards and turns towards you. You can't make out the look in her eyes, shock or anger or sadness or a plea for help. Her fists clench slightly like she's trying to hold something in. She doesn't pick up her umbrella again, instead standing in the rain and allowing herself to be drenched. Someone's dialed 911 and the sirens blare in the distance. Just moments later, the police are there. Unsurprisingly, Jay is the first one to be questioned. The police don't handcuff Jay. Instead, they wipe her down and have her sit down. She seems a little out of it, though whether that's because she had something to do with it or not, you can't tell. You'd like to believe that she hasn't done anything...but you don't really know her, do you? An orange blanket is put over her shoulders and she sits there, answering the police officer's questions quietly and quickly. You can't make out what she's saying. Meanwhile, the entire section of the park has been sealed off. The police are worried that some of the passerbys may have left the crime scene and quickly issue out a message asking anyone with any information to step up. You are questioned as well, though the police dismiss you quickly once realizing that you do not come from around Seattle. That leaves you with time on your hands--too much time. The police say you can go, but you don't know the hotel well enough and you're not ready to leave without the rest of your group. A brown-haired Detective Caleb goes around questioning everyone else as well. Instead, you turn your attention to the news. The words "Mysterious Serial Killer Strikes Again!" catch your eye. As you scan the headlines, you notice a few details about the previous murders. The first murder was of a woman named Lilian Rockwell. She died over two months ago from a single gunshot in the middle of a rainstorm. You frown. The second murder occurred about a month ago and was the death of a Bradley Miller. The final murder occurred only a few days before you arrived and resulted in the death of Philip Fillmore. No suspect has emerged over this period of time except for the fact that all murders were done in broad daylight during a rainstorm of some sort. The investigation is being led by an Inspector James Sterling. Speaking of rain, it's beginning to clear up and the police seem to have finished up with Jay. Before you're able to speak to her though, an authoritative figure stands up. "Hello everyone," a smooth, confident voice speaks up. A man dressed in a grey suit is standing on a bench. He's not particularly tall, but his voice carries loudly towards the crowd and he has a cocky but assertive manner about him. "I am Inspector James Sterling and am headed with this case." The serial killing case? Your eyebrows go up. Could it be? "Everyone hold tight. We have a little more questioning to do and luckily, the clouds are passing. We'll keep you updated as to when you are able to go home." With that, he steps down. ~~~ Moderator Note Here is your first suspect/witness that you are able to question. More people will be available to talk to as the murder progresses. You will not have any insight into the thoughts of witnesses or people you question. All RPing from the mod in charge of the suspect/witness will be done in third person. All questioning will be done in the thread unless given permission otherwise. Here are your options at this point: - Question Jay - Speak with Inspector Sterling - Speak with Detective Caleb Note that whatever you chose, the character has every right to deny the answer to your questions. The police have not released any information other than that in the newspaper regarding the crime. Bios: Inspector Sterling Detective Caleb
  12. Jay was surprised when Lily sat down next to her. "What's wrong?" the girl asked softly. Jay smiled. "Nothing. Just thinking." She took another bite of her pizza, chewing it slowly. Lily was very different from Misaki, much, much quieter. She briefly wondered if that was a good thing or a bad thing. "How are you?" As she looked at all of her fellow DCW members, she couldn't help but feel a little detached from all of them. Even though they were all friends online...well, they didn't really know each other. Not really. Maybe that's why she had organized this trip--so that they would become more than just words on a screen. Jay glanced up at the sky as a drop of rain fell onto her arm. It rained a lot in Seattle, though usually not for long. At least, she hoped not. Jay put her pizza back in the small cardboard box it came in and tucked it into her bag. Once it was in, Jay grabbed a small blue umbrella. She should've thought of at least bringing a few umbrellas for the rest of the group, but there was a rain covering not too far from here. As Jay opened the umbrella, she flinched slightly before ducking under the umbrella and motioning to Lily. "C'mon, let's go grab the others and find somewhere dry." ~~~ Moderator Note For clarification...both Sophias are staying in the same room (AiSuigetsu and Nur). 13. Location: The Hotel You follow Jay into a few white vans and toss your luggage in. By now, everyone has sorta gotten to know each other and are on much better terms with each other. You do notice grudgingly that a few of the people are still a little shy and not talking, but you figure that no one's perfect. Jay drives one van and Mark drives the other, with L and Amber both taking shotgun. You wonder if the four of them know each other already. The hotel's about half an hour away and you settle down for a nap while you're waiting. Half an hour later, you're awakened as one of your newfound friends taps you on the shoulder. The hotel is in front of you. Jay and Mark park the cars and then you all pile out. Jay counts all of you off, making sure everyone is there, then she assigns rooms, almost as if you were in a field trip or something. These are the room assignments: Ari and Heksu: Room 501 Misaki and Lily: Room 502 Abdul, Milan, and Warren: Room 503 Sophia and ??: Room 504 You're surprised Sophia's rooming alone. Apparently, one of the other members is getting in a little late and Jay will go and have her join them when her flight gets in. You also note that Jay does not mention where she, Mark, L, and Amber are staying. You figure that Jay will return to her house, though you're curious as to where the others will be. You look around the hotel and it's fairly nice. There's a large lobby with a couple of comfy sofas and easy chairs. A few businessmen wander around, talking on their phones, and piano music plays in the background. The marble floor reflects the stupendously large chandelier that hangs from the ceiling. The receptionist is friendly and hands you the password for internet here: 7894563210. You smile. You'll be sure to take advantage of it. You all ride elevators up to the fifth floor where you unlock your rooms. There's a nice bathroom with a marble sink, a tub, shower, and enough toiletries for all of you. The beds are all twin extra-long with white sheets and a pale gold covering, with two or three of them depending on how many people there are in your room. The wallpaper is white and gold with some sort of design you don't bother to look into. There are two long mahogany desks along with two comfortable chairs and a stand up lamp in the corner. You lay your suitcase down, take a breather, and barely two minutes later, Jay's knocking on your doors. "Ready to go?" Location: The Park You arrive in the Maple Leaf Park and marvel at the mix of green, red, and yellow surrounding you. The sky is cloudy but it's pretty warm for autumn, which you figure is partially due to the fact that you're pretty close to the ocean. There's not too much to see, but it's a nice large park. There's a couple of hot dog and burger stands (and you can see a pizza stand poking out of the corner). Your stomach growls a little. A few couples wander around the park, holding hands. An old man with a cane sits on the park bench. Across from him, a redhaired woman feeds the pigeons. Jay informs you that there's a mini amusement park located near the south entrance but suggests that you all grab something else to eat before heading over. You all find a couple of park benches near the large central water fountain while Jay produces some lunch money for all of you. You raise an eyebrow. You're sort of starting to feel guilty now...Jay never asked for any money and somehow, she's paying for all of your food, lodging, and airfare. Still, you don't bother to mention it. Chatting, you all line up to grab sodas, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, or whatever is available from the nearby vendors. Jay doesn't say too much, but she looks a little wistful. She nibbles on the few slices of pizza she has before putting it down again thoughtfully. You wonder briefly what's on her mind but someone says something and your attention returns towards food and conversation. ~~~ You guys have some free time in the park, so I suggest you converse for a little bit while we set everything up. Don't worry, the roleplay will start moving along a little quicker soon enough. I took extra effort to describe the hotel to you. It will become important as when the murder starts, that's where you'll be conducting your research, possible interrogation, and other activities. In case you were wondering about Sophia's roommate, that will be Hikari-chan (Nur). She applied late and I'm waiting for her bio, which is why I have not added her bio or name to this or the first post.
  14. Jay looked at the members around her. Most of them were here and had already begun showing their true personalities. She was surprised at some of the turnout, but satisfied as well. "Alright everyone," Jay said, clapping her hands. "I know some of you have taken pretty long flights to get here. Most of you have gotten a chance to eat, though there will be more if you'd like. I think we're all here and should start heading out. We'll drop all our stuff at the hotel and then head to the park. And...why don't we take a better look at this mystery?" Jay picked up a spare copy of the newspaper and gave a small smile. "Let's get moving." ~~~ Moderator Note Signups are officially closed! I may, if I'm feeling generous, accept late applications within the next 24 hours. PM me with details.
  15. "A murder, huh," Jay mused. She looked around at all the other DCW members. They seemed a little awkward and unsure of each other, as if not completely sure what to expect from each other. Jay had assumed they'd be more comfortable talking to each other after having known each other for so long on the DCW forums, but that apparently wasn't the case with most of the members. Admittedly, it was a great deal easier to interact when you were sitting behind a screen and people couldn't judge your looks or your attitude. She looked at the rest of the group, a couple of whom had looked up at the mention of a murder. They needed something to bring them together and after all...they were members of a detective group. It was bad planning on Jay's part, but she hadn't really thought of exactly what they'd do. She'd really only been meaning to find a time where they could all talk to each other face to face and maybe, just maybe, they'd become real friends. Real, actual friends. Not just faces behind a computer monitor. Because no matter how much her online friends had helped her, Jay had faded in the past several months. She'd discovered that when she was going through tough times, she needed real people. Actual people. And no matter how many words of comfort she received online, she needed real people to be there for her in real life. Jay wasn't a fan of talking to people who now, face to face, were virtually strangers to her, but she figured she owed the other members some kind of guidance to prevent them from tripping all over each other. "We'll be here for a little bit more while we wait for more of our members to join us," Jay nodded. "How about some of us go grab a bite to eat? Also...I was thinking...after we manage to find all of the members who are supposed to meet us here, we could take a look at the recent murders in Seattle Mark just mentioned. I mean, we are part of DCW after all. I doubt we'll be able to solve it, but it'll be fun just trying it out." ~~~ Mod Message Signup will tentatively end on Thursday. This is subject to change.
  16. The Special Anniversary Round has been posted! There is no limit to the number of roleplayers for this round and no time limit (in honor of the original DCW IRL round). Everyone should head on over and join up!
  17. Location: The Airport You grip the handrests excitedly. You can't believe that you're finally going to meet everyone you knew online! My, it's been so long since you first entered the Detective Conan World chatroom and you're actually surprised to find yourself touching down already. You weren't planning on taking such a drastic step to meeting all of your online friends and now that you're here, you feel an odd mixture of worry, excitement, and apprehension. Still, the excitement seems to bubble to the top. You wonder briefly how everyone looks like. This trip was arranged by IdentityUnknown last month. She has sent you all tickets and arranged to meet all of you at the Seattle airport. You've all been flown in from around the world (you wondered briefly how she could afford all of it, but you figure she has her ways). The seat belt sign turns on and you feel a drop in your stomach. Staring outside the window, you watch as the plane descends through the thick fluffy layer of clouds. The ground grows closer and there's a gentle jolt as the plane's wheels hit the ground. You bounce a little bit and after a few minutes, the plane slows to a stop. Ten minutes later, you walk out into the airport, pick up your baggage, and head out to the arrival terminal. A girl holding a sign saying "DCW Forum" leans against a pillar with a black suitcase. A few of the others are already there. Most of the others are talking, but a few are sitting to the side, playing on their iPods or typing on their computers. You go ahead and join them, introducing yourself to several of them. People mill around, a few joining you near the pillar. "Hi," the girl with the sign says. Her smile is easy, but a little bit cautious. "I'm IdentityUnknown, the organizer of this little trip." She offers a hand, which you take. "You can call me Jay. Most of us are here already." She nods towards some of the other people there. "That's Mark, though since he's reading the paper, I wouldn't interrupt him. Mohorovicic, that's his DCW name. Elizabeth, or Elli, or L--she goes by a lot of names--is the girl with the purple hair and combat boots. She's Sparrow. Oh, and that short girl is KKLT, also known as Amber. Just introduce yourself to the people around and you'll be fine." To your disappointment, they all seem a little preoccupied, but well, there's other people, right? You smile at Jay and decide to take her advice. Whatever comes next, you're ready to bring it on. ~~~ Moderators IdentityUnknown Kaitou Kid Legendary Thief Mohorovicic Sparrow ~~~ Players n00btube Misaki-chan Heksu MeitanteiSnow Usui-kun AiSuigetsu PhiBrainChild Ren-kun Nur Lovestruck ~~~ Suspects Jay ~~~ This is a SPECIAL round. 21. (Sorry, but I'm gonna have to drop out. :/ I was looking forwards to this too...)
  22. Dear Anonymous, I'm crying. I hate crying. If there's ever a post I know you won't read...it's this one. You're not going to be here anymore. I know it's a stupid thing to cry over, but... I was counting on two more weeks. Two more weeks, and I would've been happy. I would've been satisfied. Was two more weeks too much to ask for? All I wanted was those two weeks. It's been all I've been looking forwards to these past two days and yet... Time is so cruel. I counted on two weeks, now I have two more days. Was two weeks too much to ask for? Two weeks where I'd be happy. No stress, no work, just us. Together. Having fun. Eating apples and sugar cubes and carrots and... Two weeks. I always knew it would end, but not...like this. I can't stop crying.
  23. Phin opened the shades to the main Habitat. This was where most of the animals who weren't in isolated confinement and observation tended to be. Unfortunately, Phin had to come do inspection every day. A couple of the experiments were standing near the vent. That wasn't unusual...Phin imagined the air might be better near the vent. She frowned as one of the experiments ran away from the vent. Phin didn't spend enough time near the Habitat to know the regular patterns of the experiments, but she was pretty sure that the experiment hadn't fled from agression. In fact, they seemed to be listening. Phin didn't particularly care if they figured anything out. The vent was connected to one of science labs, not one Phin regularly worked in, but still one of the genetic modification labs. Phin frowned. What were they doing? The only thing that the laboratory would tell them would be the experiments they were planning to conduct. It wouldn't help them much if they were trying to escape. Maybe they could turn back into humans though... They should stop. Phin didn't think that way because she was loyal to Medicorps...not at all. But if they did escape...where would they go? They'd be alone. Even if they turned human, it'd be long and arduous to get used to life. Here, at least they had one another. At least they weren't alone. Phin shrugged the thoughts away. She didn't care for the Experiments or Medicorps. Once, she would've--she might even have helped. Not this time though. She'd let whatever happen happen.
  24. "Number 72, peregrine falcon." Phin lifted the blinds, revealing a woman around twenty. Her arms were grafted into large speckled wings and her legs were claws, dirtied and yellowed. She opened her mouth, a noise erupting from her throat that sounded like a mixture between a blood-curdled scream and a screech. The other scientists eagerly began to take notes. A girl, who looked like she'd just gotten out of high school, turned a little green. "Oh God," she murmured before she bent towards the ground, gagging. Almost robotically, Phin lifted a trash can towards the girl. She accepted it gratefully, puking into it. New. Phin hated having to lead rounds with the newer recruits. She'd wondered why she'd been assigned to 72 and 19 today--they were the somewhat more normal Experiments and weren't currently under any new medication or genetic modification process. She watched as the girl continued puking before finally lifting her head weakly. Some of the other scientists were pointing...the girl had gotten a little something on her white lab coat. She heard a snicker behind from one of the more senior scientists. Phin watched as puke girl cringed. Phin stayed silent. All recruits did this, all went through it. It was like initiation. You're strong enough to make it to the next level or not. Each man for himself. Did she mention how she hated leading rounds with new recruits? Heck, she hated rounds. Phin finished her rounds half an hour later and returned to the experimental lab. She'd much rather work with chemicals than the animals. She worked better in the lab, and she didn't have to see the results of her work. Phin wasn't naive--she knew what Medicorps was doing and what her work was being used for. Her own morals had vanished three years ago with her brother's life. To some, Phin was impenetrable. It was better to keep it that way and Phin would rather stay away from the creatures. That was easiest.
  25. Dear Anonymous, I am good enough. I have the skill. I just need courage. I need strength. I need the guts to manage it. And that's not anything that anyone can give me. ~ Jean
