  4. Note Next round of DCW IRL will be starting in mid-September when most people have already settled into school. This will give you a good idea as to whether or not you'll be able to participate.
  5. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Unfortunately everyone, we will be bringing this round to a close. There are several reasons for this. First, we will not be able to finish before the school year starts and we don't want to impede on your studies. Second, we have found that the interrogation (while interesting), is simply too complicated and doesn't provide enough answers for you to gather more suspects or garner more information. There are other factors of course, but these are the two main ones. I don't know about everyone else, but I thought it was fun, if complicated and a little too time-consuming. I will be posting a poll above shortly afterwards about how you felt this round went. I will also, for fun, explain in a post below what we were planning for you, had we gotten farther. I will ask that you refrain from posting anymore after this post unless it is to comment on your thoughts on the round or on what we had been planning. Thank you all so much for participating. It was really a lot of fun for me to plan this with the other mods and even though it didn't go the way we wanted or expected it to, I have no regrets about spending this time with all of you. This is your concluding post below. All posts below need not be written from a roleplaying perspective. ~~~ Unfortunately, one event leads to another. Rain starts pouring again in Seattle and you, disgruntled, return to the hotel. Another man dies but you don't get a chance to investigate or interrogate at all before the police tell you officially to stay out of their business. Jay brings you around to explore Seattle. Before long though, it's time to return home and the mystery, however memorable, remains a mystery. No more murders happen while you're there but a few months later you hear someone else has been shot and killed. The police are still clueless, you think as you sip your coffee in the morning. There's always that nagging feeling in the back of your mind, maybe something you missed, something you could've done. Part of you regrets leaving Seattle, another part of you quietly whispers that you never would've found the culprit anyways. Instead of pondering on it more, you allow it to fade into the back of your mind and you return to your "real" life. It's a year later when you open the newspaper by chance that you see the headlines. "Suspect for Rainman Serial Killings Arrested." You look at the picture. It looks familiar and you look at the caption below. It's Mark! Your eyebrows shoot up. You never even knew. You call Jay but the number's been cancelled and she hasn't left another one to contact her by. You frown, but there's nothing you can do. At any rate, that's the end of the mystery and you can finally set your coffee cup down. ~~~ Questions for Consideration: 1. Did you enjoy this round? 2. What did you like about this round? 3. What didn't you like about this round? 4. If you knew how it would be when you signed up, would you have signed up? 5. What would you do differently if you were in our place? 6. Suggestions?
  6. Apologies, I have been traveling. After this post I am tentatively pausing this round as I may not have internet for a week and I am unsure if the other mods are able to keep this round going without me. ~~~ Jay looks up from her laptop as Misaki's group pulls in a full forty-five minutes early. "Hey," she smiles. "You guys are back early. Are you planning on heading out? If you are..." Jay holds up a slip of paper. "Jennifer Starling's address. I got it while you were gone. You still have some time if you guys would like to explore today or you can wait until tomorrow. It's not a pressing issue." You open the slip of paper that Jay hands you. It reads: "789 Ashton Lane, Building 2, Room 307" ~~~ "20 bars?" The vendor raised an eyebrow but reached beneath the counter, counted out 20 bars, and handed it to her before taking Sophia's cash and counting out the change. "Thanks for your business." He spat into the bushes angrily. "After that murder I couldn't sell nothing 'cept to those police fellows, a couple of whom were rather full of themselves." He looked embarrassed. "Ah, get along, it's not important," he said huffily. ~~~ Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 8:35 PM Ari, Eli: 8:00 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 9:15 PM Current Location of Van: Maple Leaf Park
  7. "Yes, goodnight to you too," is all Chrissy says before she leaves, taking the piece of paper with her. ~~~ Location: Maple Leaf Park You enter Maple Leaf Park. It has changed since the crime scene, tape covering where most of the crime scene used to be. You can see the outline of a few police members milling around, most likely to insure that the crime scene is kept safe overnight. You can also spot glow-in-the-dark tape where the victim fell. There aren't a lot of people around other than the police, except for a snack and beverage vendor who is closing his shop and pushing it away. He seems to be somewhat frustrated--perhaps he hasn't had a good day of business with the police there (though you can also imagine the opposite as you were detained for a while). As Heksu lifted the tape, a uniformed man came up to him. "Hey, kid," the man frowned. "Don't you know you're not supposed to be in here? Can't you read the tape? You kids are the reason why we have to stand here all night after all." You read his badge. His name is Mike Carlson. Mike Carlson ~~~ Moderator's Note Unsuccessful interrogation by Ari and Eli, +5 minutes. Conversation from Rose's group, +5 minutes. When you decide whether or not to head back to the hotel, you'll have extra time added. No time added to Sophia's group. Again, note that Jay will have some information for you at check-in if you are physically present (or earlier, which may give you better use of the info). If you call to check-in, you won't get the info but you may request an extra hour of interrogation. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 8:25 PM Ari, Eli: 7:55 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 9:00 PM Current Location of Van: Benford Industries
  8. "The Rainman Serial Killings?" Chrissy said, stiffening. "Jenny?" She pursed her lips, looking to the both of you. "You're not the police are you? No, you're too young." Chrissy shook her head. "No, I don't know anything about them and if you'll excuse me, it's been a long day and I'd like to head home." ~~~ Moderator's Note Assuming that Sophia's group is going to head to the park from the police station. No time has been added to any other groups as I feel you still have not talked sufficiently to count as a conversation. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 8:25 PM Ari, Eli: 7:50 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 8:55 PM Current Location of Van: Benford Industries
  9. "He figured out a while ago happiness isn't a watermark or a beat; happiness happens in the middle of other things, a moment of perfect clarity in all the other shit." "'Are you okay?' Always the same question. 'I'm fine.' Always the same lie."
  10. "Please, can you give us a chance?" The younger girl, Lily, looked at Inspector Sterling pleadingly before turning around and following the rest of her friends out of the police station. Inspector Sterling sighed. He had been annoyed at the kid, Daisy or whatever her name was. Even though he understood her curiosity, this was not some tv show. This was real life and an honest-to-goodness murder, one the inspector had seen far too often recently for his liking. "Andrews," he said, speaking to the night-shift officer. "Make sure that if those kids come again, they're patched through directly to me or Detective Caleb." The officer nodded. "May I ask why, sir?" Inspector Sterling looked a little troubled. "They're curious kids," he said finally. "I don't want them getting too mixed up into this business or getting false information and getting up with the idea that this is their case." ~~~ "Ah, Jay, right?" Detective Caleb frowned, looking at the screen once more before turning back to answer Sophia's questions. "Hmm? Yes, it would be odd for Starling to not be carrying an umbrella. She was though, she hadn't gotten it out yet at the time of her murder. We assume that she either was moving slowly or was enjoying herself. It's not uncommon around here. People who enjoy the rain stay, people who hate the rain leave, that's pretty much how it is around here. No, it was probably a coincidence and the other murders are inconsistent with it." He smiled. "Is there anything else I can help you with? You've been very helpful...of course, I'll need to verify some of what you're saying but that shouldn't be too big of a problem." ~~~ "Tarrington?" Chrissy echoes. "That's me. Hi kids. Was there something you needed? I wasn't aware that I would be having visitors." She smiles, though you can tell that she looks tired and a little weary form a long day of work. "If it's not urgent, could it possibly wait until tomorrow? It's been a long day." ~~~ Moderator's Note Interrogations are getting better now! Added some time to compensate for the amount of info you're receiving. Note to Rose's group, you have one hour of time left. Use it wisely and remember to check-in! I would like to commend Sophia for her excellent interrogation and question-evasion skills. I actually thought I was going to have to lock your character up for blatantly lying to the police. Unfortunately, there has been some inactivity. Thus, Nur and Ren-kun have unexpectedly been required to fly home. These following new locations have been opened to Rose's group through interrogation. Chances are, all of you will get the chance to interrogate here at some point in the future. Rose's group just gets a headstart tonight. All locations require fifteen minutes of travel. Tram Street Train Station, Line 3 Park Avenue/Jefferson Lane Rainwater Square Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 8:10 PM Ari, Eli: 7:50 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 8:55 PM Current Location of Van: Benford Industries
  11. I'm well aware I was using Caps Lock. Also since KKLT posted...I was going to edit this all out but it seems to fit well enough so take both parts into consideration. ~~~ Location: Benford Industries Benford Industries towers above you. You enter the main building and note that the building will be closed to visitors soon. In fact, most of the business workers are already heading out of the building. There's a receptionist in a pressed skirt with her brown hair in a bun. She seems a little bit irritated and is constantly glancing at her watch, wondering when she can go home you're sure. You hesitate before heading up to her. Before you're able to speak, she looks up. "Hello," she says, in a polite voice though it's so forced she might as well have screamed at you. Her name is Gina Brent. "Are you heading upstairs? Please tell me what floor you're heading to and write down your names and time of entry so I can give you an access card." A blonde woman walks by with a take out bag. "Hey Gina!" she smiles. "We got your order!" Gina smiles for once and it looks much better than the suppressed scowl she was wearing earlier. You note the pass dangling from the lady's neck. Chrissy Tarrington, Secretary, Benford Industries ~~~ "Actually," Detective Caleb corrected, "the victims did not go in a pattern of female, male, female. They went in a pattern of female, male, male, female. That may not necessarily be a pattern." He smiled. "Thanks for your tips and theory. I'd tell you what weapon was used, but unfortunately that's classified information." Detective Caleb pursed his lips. "I will say it was not a rifle though, to put your mind at ease." He gave another smile, turning to his computer as he clicked through DCW's log information. "Hmm, how'd you find out that her name was Jenny? Did she tell you privately or something? Is there any way I could access those conversations just to confirm anything about her?" Detective Caleb continued clicking. "Who's this IdentityUnknown person?" he asked. "The username sounds familiar...was he in your group? Someone mentioned that name for me but I can't recall..." ~~~ "I asked if you had questions, doesn't mean I asked you to help run an investigation," Inspector Sterling said, annoyed. "If you're gonna continue with that snappish attitude, then I have no obligation to be standing here, talking to you. You need to learn to control your mouth, young lady. It'll get you into serious trouble someday." He raised his eyebrow in an intimidating manner. "If there's nothing else you'd like to speak with me about, you'll excuse me if I head home, My wife and daughter are waiting for me and I'm already late." He tapped his foot as Lily asked a question and his eyes softened a little. "Look, kid, I know you want to help. I have a daughter at home and when she was younger she was much the same. It's great that you have an interest in solving crimes and I'm sure you'll do well when the time comes. But you can't force things to come early. And I can't let you help us. Just trust that we'll find the murderer." You note that he doesn't mention clearing Jay's name, implying he still thinks that she may have something to do with the murder. "I know you must be a little overwhelmed, but really. We can handle it." ~~~ Moderator's Note None of the groups other than Rose's group are aware that Chrissy is Jennifer Starling's friend, however if you pose the question correctly she will make it obvious to you. Watch your attitudes, people. Maybe it might intimidate some into talking to you, but most people, especially in the police force, are confident enough to talk back. Inspector Sterling will talk to you to some extent, but you have to treat cautiously. Forming a good relationship with the police is essential. Five minutes have been added to everyone's times for conversations, or in Ari and Eli's case, transportation. The van is now at Benford Industries. At the next mod post from me, Jay will shift locations and will do so every now and then in order to provide a larger chance of each group being able to take the van as opposed to walking. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:55 PM Ari, Eli: 7:50 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 8:55 PM Current Location of Van: Benford Industries
  12. Officer Holden nodded, though he looked skeptical. "Yes, yes," he said. "I'll inform you if anything happens." He put the number, which had been written on a sticky note, inside his folder and tucked it away, not looking at it again. ~~~ Officer Holden smiled. "Of course, kids," he said warmly. "Naturally, you can all find this stuff in the news," he said, "but let me see." Officer Holden clicked and typed something into his computer. "You doing this for a project or something?" he asked. "If you really want to solve the mystery, I suggest you kids leave it to the police. We're quite capable. Still, I suppose it's no harm giving you public information... "Lillian Rockwell died at the train station on Line 3. It's located on Tram Street. Bradley Miller died on the crossroad between Park Avenue and Jefferson Lane. Phillip Fillmore was shot in Rainwater Square and died later that night in the hospital during surgery." Officer Holden nodded. "Yup, that's it kids. I'm sorry, it's super late kids, so I've got to go. My colleague, Officer Andrews, will take over my station. Talk to him if you need any help. Also, Detective Caleb is out of the station, I believe he's gone home, but Inspector Sterling is staying late. Unfortunately, he's in a meeting, but he should be out in about fifteen minutes." Fifteen minutes later, Inspector Sterling came out. "Oh, it's you kids," he said, frowning as he looked at you. "You're from the...the detective forum, right?" He sighed, running his fingers through his virtually nonexistent hair. "Do you have any questions or something? I could get someone to find you a psychologist if you're having trauma or something." ~~~ Detective Caleb nodded. "Yes. What did you say her username was again?" ~~~ Moderator's Note I am fairly busy this week and may be late with updating. Rose's group: The conversation with Holden is considered a "casual conversation" and has taken five minutes of your time. random.org is being rude and said it took Sterling 15 minutes to arrive. These times have been added to your overall time. Eli, Ari: The conversation with Holden is a "casual conversation" and took five minutes. BUT THE POLICE STATION IS NOT CLOSED YET AND YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO MAKE IT TO BENFORD. Your group's time is behind everyone else's since you haven't interrogated or traveled much yet. You still have plenty of time to interrogate people. And characters that others missed may still be present at your time. Again, Jay can bail you out. Once. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:50 PM Ari, Eli: 7:45 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 8:50 PM Current Location of Van: Police station
  13. Detective Caleb nodded, understanding. "Alright, well, tell me as much as you know. Give me the address of the website and her username so I can access it later to check around." ~~~ Moderator Note Know that in real life, police aren't going to just give away information. Also, as a reminder, all groups are considered SEPARATE. You will not meet again until the hotel for simplicity of RPing. By the way, since interrogations are tough, you have the option of using Jay to bail you out once. This will come in the form of a phone call (or whatever else deemed appropriate) and unless you are being detained (which hopefully won't happen to any of you o.o) or the murderer is about to kill you or a situation where you logically cannot get out of through a call, this will always get you out of your current situation. It will terminate your interrogation but will allow you to leave without further questions asked. So for instance, if Sophia's group decides that Detective Caleb will become too suspicious if questioning is continued, they can choose to have Jay bail them out. Detective Caleb will allow the group to leave without any more questions. Note, if you return, the person with whom you were speaking of will remember the previous conversation and may continue to be suspicious. Jay can only bail you out once per designated interrogation time (if you are doing a separate interrogation without the mods stating it's an interrogation time, you're on your own). To be bailed out, message me.
  14. Dear Anonymous, There is a lot I would like to say here. Words I never said. Thoughts I never spoke. Doubts I never voiced, hopes I never admitted. It's taken me weeks to write this and none of this can sum up how I feel. But maybe that's good. It means I care. Live and forget, right? Nothing lasts forever. But I was so happy. In a world that sometimes feels so bleak and hopeless, happiness is fleeting. Pain is easier to remember. Joy is hard to hold onto. That's why it's so precious, right? Do you remember? Do you remember the sun and the waves and our laughter? I'm sure you do, but do you remember them the way I do? Sometimes I wonder. But no matter how you envision them, I always think of them the same. Happy. Whether we were mocking each other or messing around or downright serious...I can feel happiness in all of those memories. A joy that so many crave that I have been so blessed to receive. I would love to relive those memories and let my imagination wander off. I want to laugh with you again. But I know from experience I can't hang onto those memories forever. And I hate that fact, but it's the truth. I miss you. I've said it. I miss you, I miss you, I miss you. I...don't know what to say now. That's really all I needed to say. All I wanted to say. At the same time, there is something more, something else I need to say...yet as much as I try, I can't put it into words. By the time I see you again, I'm sure it will no longer be so. A year is both shorter than imaginable yet longer than explainable. Time is relative after all, and all things fade in time. We were the best of friends and we had the best of times. I miss you. ~ J
  15. Detective Caleb nodded. "Look, let's go in and we can talk in somewhere a little more private. I'd like to know a little more about what Jennifer Starling has been up to recently. Tell me the website as well. It might not be much but it could be important." His voice held a hint of urgency to it. ~~~ Moderator Note Rose's group has been sped up to the police station. (I'm assuming this is where you're headed) Sophia's group: Beware. Starling does not have a DCW account, a few seconds of searching will reveal this quickly enough. Tread cautiously. All three groups are now at the police station. Do note that only two groups may board the van at once and both Benford and the station will be closing soon. The police station is technically still going to be open but do note that the number of officers you'll be able to question will go down. Benford is closing at 8:30 to visitors unless you get special permission. Also, you still have the option of returning to the park. This may or may not reveal extra information to you. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:50 PM Ari, Eli: 7:40 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 8:30 PM Current Location of Van: Police station
  16. Tim frowned. "Is this urgent? I don't want to disturb Mr. Landon if unnecessary." He looked a little suspicious now. "Do you really need this much information for a school project? You're not really running an investigation and I can't really see how criminology would involve such detailed investigations..." ~~~ "Mr. Tim?" The receptionist raised an eyebrow, obviously a little peeved. "Why would Mr. James send you down here? Chrissy's gone home, in case you're wondering. And there's no reason for him to want to speak with Chrissy--she doesn't work under him. So...how are you going to explain yourself?" The receptionist leaned back in her chair, tapping her foot, annoyed. "You're visitors, it's unlikely that Mr. James would send you to speak with Chrissy, especially after hours. Of course, if you'd like," her hand moved towards the phone, "I can call and confirm this with him." ~~~ Moderator Note Tim is, unsurprisingly, getting suspicious. After all, you've just fed him a mouthful of lies and some of them aren't adding up. Better find a way out of this situation quickly or you'll be in trouble. As for the receptionist...she's much more snappy than Tim. It's not surprising that she's doubtful of what you're saying. A slight slip will mean your entire cover being blown and...with the lies you've been feeding and the fact that this is a large company, the police may be called if you're not careful. Due to your continuation of conversation with Tim, the conversation has taken a total of 20 minutes. The length of conversation with Detective Caleb has yet to be determined. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:50 PM Ari, Eli: 7:40 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 8:15 PM Current Location of Van: Police station
  17. Detective Caleb frowned. "We don't have much more information on the case and all information that has been released to the public can be--wait a second. I recognize you. I don't remember you mentioning that you'd known Ms. Starling when you were present at the crime scene. Aren't you kids all from out of town?" He looked at all of them suspiciously. "Look, I'd love to help you, but you've got to put some faith in the police. We're investigating Ms. Starling's case right now and unless you've got a good reason..." he hesitated "I really shouldn't be telling you anything." Detective Caleb started towards the right entrance into the building. ~~~ "Ah." Tim looked a little more uncomfortable now. He put his hand to his forehead and ran his fingers through his hair. "I guess you've heard about Ms. Starling's passing. Unfortunately, I don't really know much about the murder itself or what could spark such violence against Ms. Starling. I didn't know her well, but she was a hard worker. It'd probably be better if you asked one of her closer friends or her boss, Mr. Aaron Landon. He's probably gone home now. I remember she was good friends with Chrissy. I don't remember Chrissy's last name unfortunately and I don't have her number either." TIm looked a little sympathetic. "My job doesn't really deal with serial killings or anything like that. Are there any other questions you would like to ask me?" ~~~ Moderator Note Your interrogation of Detective Caleb was unsuccessful. Note that he does still remember you from the crime scene as he questioned some of you. You can either give up on trying to talk to him or continue trying to get information out of him. 5 minutes have been marked down, an additional 20 minutes will be added if you catch up to him and continue to question him. The interrogation of Tim is considered undetermined. If you continue to question him, your interrogation will be considered successful and will take 20 minutes. If you decide that's enough information, the interrogation is unsuccessful and takes 5 minutes. Also, Rose's group, your entire trip to find Tim has, by the will of random.org, taken 10 minutes. The 10 minutes has been marked down, your choice as to whether or not you continue to ask Tim questions will determine how long the rest of the conversation is. n00btube and Spar, I am assuming you walked to the police station. It has taken 15 minutes. Due to delay, another five minutes was used for Spar to also arrive at the station. Note that you should continue to roleplay as if you are the only group at the station. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:50 PM Ari, Eli: 7:40 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 7:55 PM Current Van Location: Police station
  18. Moderator Note Since you're the largest group, it's not that big of a deal if you split but the problem with splitting is that the admins will have to regulate yet another group and you guys won't be able to regroup until the hotel since for convenience, we're making it so the groups don't run back into each other (since times and stuff will be different). And the project isn't a terrible excuse. There's no way to verify it since no one would bother to call up a teacher at 7:30 PM at night when everyone's rushing back home. The only problem is that none of you are from Seattle so there's no reason why you'd come to Seattle to do a project. Also, they might turn you away since it's so late and they're eager to return home. Not to mention it'd be weird for a bunch of schoolkids (some of whom aren't in school) to ask a bunch of questions about a recent murder. My suggestion is for all of you to stick together if possible and choose someone to go interrogate.
  19. Moderator Notice Thank you for noticing this notice. Your noticing of this notice has been noted and will be reported to the appropriate authorities. *cough* On a different note, Benford Industries is a transportation company. Details are a few pages back.
  20. "Wait!" Jay caught up to Rose's group in the van just before she drove off. "Here," Jay offered. "I gave one to Sophia's group and forgot to hand it out to the rest of you. It should only take you fifteen minutes to get to Benford." She handed a map to each member of each group. "Hurry or you'll run out of time." ~~~ Officer Holden looked sympathetic. "Detective Caleb is a little busy at the moment and across town. He should be heading back soon though...it is almost time to return after all. Let me try to get him on the phone for you." It takes a while for Officer Holden to get Detective Caleb on the phone as he's in the middle of something at the moment. You sit on a few chairs as you wait, not a lot of conversation going on between you. You all wonder what you're going to say to the Detective when he gets here. Fifteen minutes later, a police car pulls up and Detective Caleb exits and enters the police station, a brief case and a file in hand. He transfers the file to his other hand and holds up a hand in greeting. "Hey kids," he smiles, though he looks a little tense. "What do you need?" ~~~ Location: Benford Industries Benford Industries towers above you. You enter the main building and note that the building will be closed to visitors soon. Jay has given you all maps so you are able to reach each location in the time frame we give you. Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, and Warren have automatically walked to Benford Industries. It is now 7:45 PM. Note the building closes down to the public at 8:30 so your interrogations must be quick and successful enough for whomever you question to give you permission to stay later. n00btube: you need transportation. You have to either walk or sprint to get to the station. Okay everyone. If Group A and Group B are at the police station, which is where the van is, and they both post they'd like to go to Benford before a mod arrives, they can both board. If three groups request van access, the first two groups can board. If Group A posts before the mod but Group B does not, Group A boards and Group B does not. 21. Moderator Note: Alright, that's fair. Due to limited space though, the van can only take two groups to a single location at one time. The above encounter from KKLT with Officer Holden is considered an unsuccessful interrogation. It has taken 5 minutes of your time. ~~~ Jay shook her head. "Sorry, I've got to drop Sophia's group off at the police station." She bit her lip. "If you head to the station first, you can come with us, if not I'm afraid you'll have to walk. It's only fifteen minutes and you should be alright." Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:30 PM Ari, Eli: 7:20 PM Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 7:20 PM ~~~ Due to avoiding other problems, each group will be considered separately and will not run into each other (until they return to the hotel). If Lily's group arrives at the police station, they will have to speak with Officer Holden independently.
  22. Jay smiled. "Of course." Heikki, Abdul, and Sophia piled in. In five minutes, Jay pulled up at the police station. "Take your time," Jay nodded. "And be polite. Current Time for Groups: Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:25 Ari, Eli: 7:20 Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 7:20 None of you are at risk of fainting and all of you have been fed. Van Location: Police Station The van is now at the police station. For those of you remaining at the hotel, you must either walk or sprint to your next destination. If the police group does not emerge in half an hour, Jay will change locations randomly. Location: Police Station The police station is located near the center of the city. As you walk in, there are five police officers (none of whom you know) sitting at a long desk. There are two doors leading off to the side. Two of the officers are on the phone, two are sorting files, and one is available. He smiles at you. As you walk closer, you see the name on his desk. Bio: "Hello," he says pleasantly. "How may I help you today?"
  23. "Change of plans, guys," Jay announces. "Unfortunately, since we didn't expect to be doing investigations, I've only rented one van. Moho, and I will alternate as drivers. We'll drop you all off at the first place you want to be but we won't come pick you up. You must come to us. Once we drop you off, we'll wait at that location Also, walking time turns out to be closer to 15 minutes instead of 20. Sprinting is also now shortened to 10 minutes." ~~~ Moderator Note Lots of changes, sorry for any confusion. Here are your times for ease of reading... Time Requirements 20 minutes per successful interrogation 5 minutes per unsuccessful interrogation or casual conversation Anywhere between 1-15 minutes of searching between interrogations (random.org decides how tough it was to find) 5 minutes per travel by van 10 minutes per travel by running (only permitted once) 15 minutes per travel by walking 20 minutes to eat Important Times to Remember Police station is open until 8:00, which is when night shift starts and most police head home Benford Industries is open to the public until 8:30 and until 10:30 for office workers Check-in with Jay at 10:00 at hotel. Special information may be revealed to groups who check in at hotel. One hour of extended outside stay may be permitted by Jay after you have checked-in if you have a good reason. Again, let me clarify. The van will remain at the location it last dropped people off at. A mod will pop in regularly and update you on the location of the van, how much time each group has used, and what time it is currently. Depending on the speed of each group, you may need to check in at different times. If a group is too far ahead of another group in time, we may send you a message telling you to stop posting until the other groups have caught up. When you arrive at a new location, I will post a description for you. I will repost it every time you arrive at a new location for convenience. You will also receive a list of people you can talk to. Ask questions now and you may request to leave as soon as you'd like. By the way...eating is not required, but if random.org decides you faint due to hunger, recovery will take 40 minutes so we suggest you eat just in case. The van is ready to go. Current Time for Groups: Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan, Warren: 7:00 PM Ari, Eli: 7:00 PM Heikki, Abdul, Sophia: 7:20 Van Location: Hotel Heikki, Abdul, Sophia, since one of your group members has eaten, we assume you have all eaten or at least gotten nourishment and are safe from possible fainting. Your time is now 7:20. All of you have full access to the van at this point.
  24. Location: Restaurant You all settle into the restaurant. It's nice and fairly inexpensive, which you're thankful about. Most of you eat, though some of you pass it off and say you're not too hungry. Once you finish, you choose where you'd like to go next. The police station and Benford Industries are both fairly close to the restaurant. Moderator Note Alright, so if I've read the RP correctly, this is where everyone's going first... Rose, Lily, Misaki, Milan: Benford Industries first, then police station if enough time remains Eli, Ari: Police station Heksu, Abdul, Sophia: Benford Industries, police station The others: ??? Mark, Nur, I do not know where you are planning to go. Please make the decision rapidly. Also, some of you are lacking on activity. Warren, I'm not completely sure where you're going either though it may be my mistake. You have 24 hours to determine a location or a group you're going with. If no decision is made, you'll return to the hotel. Correct me if I'm wrong in the order of places you'll be going. Some frames of time reference you'll be needing... For this part, you'll have a limited amount of time to interrogate and question people, similar to in real life. It's currently about 7:00 PM in this roleplay and you have up to 10:00 PM before you have to check in. By checking in, you must roleplay a phone call to Jay at this time or be at the hotel. Those who are at the hotel may receive special information from Jay. If you do not check in, Jay will come find you and any investigations will be closed. If you are not at the hotel when you check in, you may request up to an extra hour of time. Whether or not Jay grants this is up to the mods and your reasoning. Here's how things go. Benford Industries closes up to visitors at 8:30 PM but still remains open for its office workers up until 10:30. Most police end work at 8:00 PM. The police station remains open all night though if you want to question certain officers, it is in your best interest to arrive early. Some higher-end officers may remain at the station a little later. If the person you are talking to is cooperative (which means they do not shrug you off, run away, or snub you), your interrogation is considered to last 20 minutes. It takes 10 minutes to get from place to place if you call Jay and 20 if you walk, 15 if you run. If the person you are talking to trusts in you or your group, you may be invited to talk to them later. Remember, you need to check in with Jay at ten. The mods will calculate the time you've spent and tell each group how much time they have left. Use your time wisely. If you discover a new location, you have the option of a) texting it to Jay who will send it to everyone; or b ) keeping it to your group and revealing investigations later. Those who have not discovered the new location themselves will not be able to go. Time in between (as in, time you've spent looking for a witness or waiting for the police) will be calculated randomly. We will inform you of how long it's been regularly. Recommendations: Talk to people carefully. They will reveal things depending on your attitude. Current Time for All Groups: 7:00 PM Location for All Groups: The Slice (restaurant) In terms of transportation...KKLT, I'm thinking for convenience Jay will be available as a driver since all of you are investigating. You must call her five minutes in advance through the roleplay. It takes about 10 minutes if you ride with Jay and about 20 if you walk, 15 if you sprint. You can only sprint once during this period of time before you become too tired. This remains the same for all locations including the hotel. Again, Jay may have information for you at the hotel, though not on the van.
