Rules, details, and background on this very special, AU DCW IRL Beta Round will go here. You should not post here if you have not received approval from me. Questions and concerns should be directed through the main DCW IRL thread or through PM. So, let's get the boring stuff out of the way. Rules - There will be a maximum of 5 players. There may be less depending on entries. - Be in character unless there is reason not to - Don't post irrelevant posts here - Use common sense I won't bother to post all of the rules here, but most DCW IRL rules apply. If you have questions, PM me before posting. For this round, I request you do not create long-lasting NPCs. Monsters, aliens, etc. will all be governed by me. This round will probably last between 1.5 and 2 months. ~~~ Background You wince in the cold bright light and find yourself alone in a blank white room. Where are you? You squint and try to remember what you saw last. A large animal...no, a monster. Its ugly brown claws stretched out towards you, about to grasp you up and destroy you. You flinch at the memory. You know that there are others who have died from it--you saw them before it headed towards you. So is this death? It doesn't feel like it. You reach over to your sleeve and slide two fingers just below your wrist. The slight pulse tells you you're alive--or are you? Do the dead have a heartbeat in...heaven? Or did you do something horrible enough to condemn you to hell? Gingerly, you stand up and move towards the door. You're dressed in your normal clothing and you realize that everything is in place. You stare at your shirt...there is nothing. No blood, no claw marks. What's going on? Nervous, though a little braver now, you stride towards the door and place your hand on the doorknob. A screech fills the air and you jump. Suddenly, you're not so eager to open the door. Nevertheless, heart pounding, you turn the knob. You do not know what you will find. ~~~ Each and every person will be a normal civilian. You will not have any weapons on you. Your bio should be realistic, even in an AU RP. Monster/Alien profiles will be posted shortly. You may start submitting your applications on Thursday. Those who are approved will have their character bios added to the first post. I will be adding a sample bio to the main DCW IRL thread for reference. Only those with approval from me should post here. Doctor Who AU RP, knowledge of the show will not help significantly.

Do you go along with other ideas? Are you flexible? Do you take other people into consideration with your posts? Do you get in arguments? These are all things that will be considered when we review your application. Really straightforward.

After the deadline is closed, I will let you know. The theme will be announced by Tuesday, September 25th. Your post does not have to be relevant to it, though your character may need to be. All rules besides first come first serve apply. No. I apologize if I caused confusion with the time (been trying to operate timeanddate.com and somewhat failing). You may begin to submit your applications starting next Thursday, September 27th, at 12 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST) and you may not submit after Sunday, September 29th, 12 AM Eastern Standard Time. Depending on the number of applications I receive, you will likely receive an answer by Tuesday, maybe Monday if I don't have too much work piled up. The meaning of a sample post is just basically a roleplaying post that you write (or have written) that you believe is a good representation of your writing skill. It can be of any length on any subject as long as it is a roleplaying post.

Yes, for fairness to all, you have three days to sign up and signups start in a week. Your character bios and sample post will be PMed to me, only approved players should post in the AU thread.

Poll is officially closed. Since the votes are pretty close, I'm going to go ahead and say that the minimum length of each round will be 6 weeks, not including a 5-day extension. Mods may lengthen (or shorten) after discussion with me. May I remind the players of the current round that time is short. You have ten days left, fifteen including extension, to wrap up your story. New poll will be put up with concerns about the AU round. Signups for the round will begin at this time. After next Thursday, you have three days to submit your character profile and sample post. Character profiles should include name, nicknames (if any), age, appearance, background, and personality. This is the criteria that I will be using: Character: - uniqueness (3 points) - realistic or not (1 point) - place in the story (2 points) Post: - grammar/spelling (5 points) - creativity (3 points) - entertainment (5 points) - length (1 point) The maximum points you can earn is 20 points. Notes: Place in the story - Does your character fit in the story well? How does he/she come in? Length - Is the post too long? Is the post too short? Entertainment - Does the post keep the person entertained and the story moving? Any other questions can be PMed to me or posted here. The AU topic will be revealed by Tuesday, September 25th. A topic will be posted with further instructions. EDIT: For this round, there will be a total of 5 players. It will not be first come first serve, all applicants will be considered at the same time and given an equal chance to compete for the top 5 spots.

I will update you with information, however, I cannot answer questions that have not been asked. Again, we've discussed this. Aeyra went along with the one-month rule, but the time may need to be extended. Again, we have a one week extension period though that has not been used as wisely as it should be. We took a vote and so far it looks like it's up to the mod. The default time period will probably be extended to I'm thinking one and a half months.
