Hello DCW, I'm not sure if you have heard the news, but due to DMCA filing (the very same filing that ended the Watch section here) DCTP has been asked to cease and desist the translation and distribution of the Detective Conan anime by Funimation Entertainment. We loved doing it over the years, but all good things must come to an end. Now, before I link to Jd-'s official statement over at DCTP, I want to make my position, and what seems to me, the general position of DCTP as a whole very clear... FUNimation was just doing their job in protecting THEIR copyright and distribution rights for Detective Conan. THEY are not at fault, WE ARE! In subbing Detective Conan, we were technically doing something ILLEGAL. Please do NOT hate Funimation for this. And certainly do not do anything against Funimation, including sending hate mail or anything of the sort. Please DO support them and their property. Over at DCTP we are VERY CLEAR of that. And I for one, as a staff member of DCTP, will treat any negative ACTION (even if spoken and not serious) as a serious transgression both on the forums and in the DCTP cbox. You are free to air frustration, but the second you start creating a negative image of this community as a whole, you are ONLY DOING HARM, and it will be treated as thus. Viz has not done the same, but please do not be surprised if they do. However it is LESS likely as we encourage the purchase of the Viz manga on our main site and do not distribute back issues. (And to think I've been on DCW for about 2 or more months! ) Anyways, I'll start to introduce myself. As you guys all know, my name is Linh. I am also a BIG otaku! Chapter 819 is now out! My thoughts on events right before Murobashi Etsuto is found dead: Noto Taisaku -- - seems frustrated as his bell doesn't seem to be working - difficult to see inside the room, but nothing looks suspicious - closes door same time as Etsuto - closes door before Idenami complains about sound Murobashi Etsuto -- - peeks out of room to see what the commotion is about - is talking to someone on his cellphone - holding phone in left hand - closes door same time as Taisaku - closes door before Idenami complains about sound Idenami Mari -- - complains about a sound (cellphone?) from inside her room - has tea kettle and cup set out on table - refuses to let conductor inside room Komino Natsue and Sumitomo Hiroka -- - both exit room just as conductor is distracted by Idenami's sound problem - head off in opposite direction unnoticed - difficult to see anything in room Andou Satoru -- - enters hallways while Idenami is still complaining - enters hallway asking what's the matter after Komino and Sumitomo seem to have left - closes door behind him after entering hallway - difficult to see anything in room My thoughts on actual discovery of body: - (pg. 15) [upper left] third link from left on chain seems thinner than rest of the links - (pg. 15) [bottom left] same link mentioned above is the one that breaks - teacup set out on table in front of Murobashi, but no kettle is in sight - teacup seems to be empty and handle is facing right, indicating Murobashi drank from his right hand - note, gun is also in right hand and that cellphone was used in left hand - cellphone used previously not visible - pistol grip seems to be accurate - a small, black object seems to be on seat opposite to Murobashi Overall thoughts: I'm terrible at deductions, so I have absolutely no idea who it could have been. I really doubt Noto and Idenami are the culprits, because they seemed truthfully frustrated at the broken bell and the sound respectively. I'm suspecting Komino and Sumitomo as well as Andou. The two ladies seemed to have cleared the hallways awfully fast, which brings me to suspect they might have entered another room in the hallway. Andou also closes the door to his room and walks toward the conductor and Idenami, which isn't something you'd do if you were just wondering what the commotion was. That's pretty much all I can get from this.

Just to let you all know I think contacting FUNi is a terrible idea. It lets them know their takedown was effective and may bring additional trouble for DCTP. Same goes for petitions. They don't care. The Detective Conan property is not profitable to them, so there will not be releasing any more in English no matter how much fan begging there is. Personally, I hope that someone other company picks up the property when FUNi's contract expires, so I fear that giving FUNi attention may only encourage FUNi to renew it for longer and therefore not give anyone else who might think more official subs is a good idea a chance.

I think what people tend to misunderstand is that no matter what your sexual preference, you don't just fall in love with everyone. Because you're gay or lesbian doesn't mean you instantly fall in love with whatever boy/girl you see. Just like being straight doesn't mean you fall in love with everyone of the opposite gender.

I'm sorry, but I find this statement quite hypocritical, Kid. You're the self-named Anti-Racist of DCW! Can't you see that homosexuality is just another form of prejudice people have created to discriminate others? It's something people can't help, they're born that way, and sometimes they're just as uncomfortable with it as they are. They didn't choose to be attracted to people of the same gender, but in real life I find it a miracle that such people can find love, and it's just as beautiful as regular couples! It's more amazing, because despite the odds, these people have found someone who will love them, and can understand their pains. And while this is more of my personal opinion, it was pretty bad timing for me to see that comment right after I read several articles about how gay teens are bullied in school, how teachers will do nothing about it (and are not allowed to do anything about it according to policies! They're not allowed to support them!) and how several of these teens committed suicide. It's not just something you can brush off as being disgusting. It's just as narrow-minded as racisim- you don't believe in superiority, you kind of believe in how disgusting it is before you take a broad view of the thing. Nowadays, there are no Ku Klux Klans, no Jim Crow, any racism is hidden, but now we've found something new to discriminate against, something new to hate. Homosexuality. Think about it that way, Kid. Homosexuality is the same as racism.

I see. Well everyone is entitled to their own opinions ^ ^ so it is fine with me that you think that. Hm..but if you think about it, aren't you being a little unfair to homosexual people? I mean if going out with someone of the same gender makes a person happy then shouldn't it be okay? Everyone's goal in life is to be happy, and if something like this makes someone happy then it's safe to say that it's okay. It may be gross to you, but to them it's perfectly normal. People are just different, and everyone has to understand that. Because of opposing people with closed minds, homosexual people feel trapped and alone; misunderstood and sad. I feel that it's okay they're a little different. Well then again, this is just my opinion If you disagree that's fine. But just think about what you're disagreeing to and why. Keep an opened mind to things.
