  2. I have certain feelings as to who the boss is: First off (unless this was translated incorrectly), the boss might be male. Gin says, "To gain his trust, he wants you to clean out somebody Source Second, Vermouth is the boss's favorite member, and he lets her do her own thing, but occasionally contacts her when he thinks she's had too much freedom. But what I wonder is why Vermouth is his/her favorite? Obviously, the boss must have loads of information on each member, and knows when Vermouth does too much, but there are other members such as Gin who follow his every motive without a single thought or emotion. Obviously, it's not because of her showing of emotions unlike the other members, because this is an evil organization that kills, so if you can't kill, you're certainly not helpful to the boss. The Organization has been around for a long time. At least 20 years ago, Vermouth killed Jodie's father because he had too much information on her and her background (which at the time she was still in the Organization). The boss may have changed, but maybe not. If the boss did change, it would probably be passed down to a son/daughter or nephew/niece etc. According to the Case Closed Casebook (an unnoficial guide to the series but it's facts have been proven mostly true), there was a Gosho Aoyama interview that said: The boss had been introduced to the manga at one point. Haibara would be shocked to find out the true identity (this could mean someone she trusted, someone who seemed too old/young/stupid/unlikely to be the boss, someone she thought was dead, etc.) The true name of the Syndicate is tied to the leader's identity Some other facts we've stumbled upon as the story progresses: The boss believes Akai Shuichi is the "silver bullet" of the Organization. He/she obviously knows of Akai's great intelligence, speed, and agility. That means either the boss has witnessed this before, or he/she got a REALLY good description of Akai from someone in the Organization. When contacting the boss' email, the keys typed out the nursery rhyme Nanatsu No Ko (七つの子), which translates to Seven Children. This can mean a multitude of things about the boss. This implies he/she is Japanese or has lived in Japan for a while or has studied a lot of Japanese culture, since the song Nanatsu No Ko is not well known in other places besides for Japan.Maybe the title or lyrics have a significance to the boss: Lyrics: karasu, naze naku no Crow, why do you cry? karasu wa yama ni kawaii nanatsu no ko ga iru kara yo Because it has 7 cute kids in the mountain kawaii kawaii to karasu wa naku no crow cries "kawaii - kawaii" kawaii kawaii to naku n da yo "kawaii - kawaii", it cries yama no furusa e itte mite goran marui me o shita ii ko da yo Go to its old home at the mountain, and you will see its round-eyed, lovely kids The song, which uses the notes Si la so la Si la so la re mi re do re mi so la for the beginning, has brought Conan to discover the boss' e-mail. The boss uses alcoholic codenames: The boss may have a preference for alcohol or has a connection in the past or by his/her name to alcohol. Or maybe the boss relates alcohol to darker things. Obviously the codenames are used to cover up their true names, but I wonder what the significance is... The Boss seems to have a lot of knowledge on mysteries: Passwords and codes in the organization have a lot to do with mysteries, for example, the password Sherringford, one of the names Sir Arthur Conan Doyle considered before deciding on Sherlock Holmes. Maybe the boss enjoys mysteries and puzzles, or maybe he/she knows a detective or mystery freak... The boss takes extreme caution: When it comes down to it, the boss tends to be extremely careful in what he/she does. Even Vermouth noted this in file 704. I have multiple opinions and guesses as to who the boss is, and I guess Dr. Agasa wouldn't be one of my guesses for the boss per say, but I think he could be related as a member. With his intelligence and great inventing skills, I doubt the Organization would just ignore his talent... maybe he works for the Organization or builds things for them without noticing (the rich patrons that buy his inventions perhaps?)

  8. I was four when it happened and although I don't remember ever detail. I do know that my parents were grief stricken and that they pulled me out of Pre-k. The thing that really sticks in my mind though is when my first grade teacher told us a story about her son who worked in the twin towers. She said that every day her son was on time to work, but on the day of nine eleven he had by chance woken up late and arrived late to work. If he had been on time that day he would have died. The story has always stood with me.

  15. Gosho regularly gives out freebee clues that help solve the arc that Conan doesn't know. One of the strongest clues happened in the Vermouth arc where we had Jodie's pictures of Vermouth's pictures and the pictures in Vermouth's office. We saw Vermouth was Chris Vineyard and thus an actress at the end of the Haido City Hotel case, but Conan didn't get to figure that out until much later. Also Akai and James were in league with one another which we found out in the Vermouth arc, but Conan didn't find out until the start of the Kir arc until they told him the answer. Another reader only hint was Kir's hesitation right before she directs Domon to the bench where he will be assassinated, showing that she has second thoughts about what she is doing. There are also lots of scenes of the Black Org which tell us what they are doing, but Conan doesn't know (Gin looking for someone in Sherry's intro case, Vermouth finding Kir was at a hospital, etc.) And Bourbon could be disguising as well, with Vermouth's help. Also your second paragraph makes the rest of the point I was going to make. Read here. Yes, Conan probably has a pretty good idea of how it went down at Raiha pass, even though we wasn't there because he would have been around for the planning. Remember Kir's quote to Gin. "Tricks? What kind of tricks could I use? ...(skip monologue here)... There's no means of utilizing any sort of trick. That is, unless you're implying he or I had superhuman brainpower that allowed us to calculate that far ahead... maybe then we could have tricked you. Yes, like that of Sherlock Holmes." It strongly implies that Kir was referencing Conan in that conversation. It was a hint to the reader to look for a trick that Conan could be involved in much like (highlight for manga spoilers)James Black mentioning he cultivated such eyes which was a somewhat blunt hint to the readers to look at eyes, specifically Sera's. And then in the most recent case, eye was scratched on the wall. (end spoilers) Conan doesn't like people dead, even bad guys. He would have interfered no matter who was walking out the door. Also something strange happened at the time which made Conan doubt his hypothesis that scar Akai was Bourbon - Jodie got a message from someone on the back of a coaster telling her it was dangerous here. You can tell from Conan's expression he is confused at hearing about that. (He gets the "....."s.) When Okiya appears, Conan realized that Okiya could have left it as well and also Okiya says talks about knowing someone which confirms for Conan someone is in disguise as Akai. Scar Akai sent the mail. Ran mailed back a random man who confirmed scar Akai had his phone. Also we know it wasn't Okiya because Okiya would have included info about the snowy mountains case because we know he looked it up earlier. Scar Akai may not have had access to the internet on his borrowed phone, so he didn't include the details. Also, if scar Akai went through the trouble of handing the man back the phone with a hanky to avoid fingerprints, it's only logical he would have also wiped the buttons down with the hanky to remove his fingerprints before handing it back. Also your trick wouldn't work. He still has to handle the borrowed phone in order to send the message to Kogoro's phone from it. He would have to use the buttons on the borrowed phone anyway in order to type in Kogoro's mail address. It also means he leaves his real phone's address on the borrowed phone when he sent the original message. He could have deleted it, but the phone company would still have a record of it and some phones can undelete messages, or worse, forward text messages to email where they can't be deleted by Bourbon. The best strategy was the one Scar Akai used, steal someone's phone, use it to send the message, meaning he doesn't have to use his own phone or phone number and then wipe it down. The only "flaw" I see in the plan was giving the man his phone back at all. Scar Akai could have just thrown it out so the man didn't see who used it; however, Gosho has got to give the reader some clues to work with here. If the BO was perfect, there would be no mystery. Maybe his borrowed phone doesn't have internet which is why he didn't use it. Even if his real phone did have internet, maybe he didn't want to even bring it out because he didn't want anything on camera. He knew that he was on video recording even. But in all of scar Akai's appearances, he wasn't seen using a phone. It would be really hard to remember every detail in order to send it to someone else unless you are constantly texting information to keep track of it. Think of the detective boys who were sending info to Heiji in the warehouse case. They were constantly taking pictures and typing info in order to make sure he got the necessary clues.

  16. Minor correction, but Bourbon isn't on the run. He's just been dispatched as an agent. No FBI agents were among the hostages at the red shirts case. They were all downstairs and free to run off. Also, he couldn't anticipate that someone would even take the floor hostage. That was a coincidence. Also the plan you are suggesting is extremely stupid. It would be really stupid for the FBI to implement a plan that would intentionally get Kir suspected of being a spy by the Org after all the work they went through to get her back in. She has become their primary source of information on the Org since Akai stopped infiltrating. Her position and the knowledge she brings are more important than drawing out Bourbon. Your plan requires putting her at risk for a plan the FBI can't be sure will work. The FBI can't be sure which BO agent will find out about Akai supposedly being alive first, so the FBI can't be sure that no one will simply kill Kir on a hunch after finding out someone saw someone who looked like Akai is wandering around. I don't think the FBI would do it. Furthermore if this theory implies that Akai is really dead, it would mean that they sacrificed him for nothing. It also means they are putting one of their own agents, the one dressed as scar Akai, directly in the line of fire in a position where he very well may have been shot. If scar Akai was an FBI agent playing bait for the Org, why did the FBI nearly let him get shot? He went outside unexposed while a sniper was pointing at him. Your plan also means the FBI intentionally put ordinary citizens at risk of getting shot. Scar Akai has so far appeared in highly public places, and drawn the Org to set up snipers in one of these highly public places. This goes against prior FBI modus operandi. Maybe scar Akai isn't as good as Subaru/the real Akai, despite Gin's comments? Also, scar Akai was using a phone he "borrowed" (likely pickpocketed because who would lose their phone in a hostage situation?) to send the deduction. Maybe he didn't have access to the internet. Conan had to use the internet to find out about the mountain case. Subaru had to use the internet via his phone. Or maybe Gin would think Jodie was trying to stop him from going outside where he could be shot which would imply Kir was still a traitor. That was Jodie's intention after all. Another possibility is that Gin would think that scar Akai was trying to stay away from Jodie because he hadn't meant to be caught after faking his death. The FBI can't read Gin's mind, so this plan is leaving far too much up to chance. Again this is relying too much on chance and assuming that the FBI are somehow able to read the various BO member's minds here. How can the FBI predict that Vermouth would arrive in time, or even at all? If scar Akai is just another agent working for the FBI, why should Vermouth care if he is killed? ========================================================================================================== Or maybe she is just knowledgeable about that sort of thing because her older brother works in law enforcement, and used to live in Japan? What!? I am not sure how this conclusion makes sense from the premises you gave.
