Sango Yokomizo (横溝 参悟 Yokomizo Sango), also known as Inspector Worthington in the Funimation dub, is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan. Yokomizo is the head inspector originally of the Saitama district, though he transfers to the Shizuoka district soon after. Although he is shown as a menancing inspector, he is considered more adept to Conan than Kogoro Mouri, and has softened his demeanor during a situation that calls for comfort. One thing he loves to do is to get his face right into a suspect's face, study them closely, and scream into their face when he believes he is onto something, a habit which even he believes is a little embarrassing. He also acts very excited whenever Kogoro enters his "Sleeping Kogoro" phase.
His twin brother is another inspector, named Jugo Yokomizo. Sango is considered a secondary character, however he makes more appearances as the head inspector and detective than any character other than Inspector Megure, and he always appears a handful of times every season, though his amount of appearances steadily decline as the years go by.
Background
As a child, Sango and Jugo would often play with other kids near the beach.[1] Sango is the head inspector of the Shizuoka district, and Conan often runs into him when he is away for a festival, or on a vacation. It is hinted that Sango is the head inspector of a richer town, as he often is involved in a case at a fancy hotel, or one of Sonoko Suzuki's vacation spots, as well as the homes of her relatives.[2] He is also the head inspector in most cases involving a famous actor or actress,[3] and at many festivals.[4] Sango has a twin brother named Jugo Yokomizo, who is also an inspector. His personality is the complete opposite of Sango's, in that he is much more serious than Sango. Sango Yokomizo makes frequent appearances in the anime, as compared to other non-Tokyo district inspectors and detectives, like Misao Yamamura and his twin brother Jugo.

Unlike most other characters, Sango does not mind Conan involving himself in cases. In fact, Sango often values Conan's opinion, as well as his keen observations, often asking him if he has found any clues, much to the chagrin of Kogoro.[15] Whenever Conan makes a point, or points out a clue, Kogoro immediately disregards it, while Sango is the only one who listens to Conan's points without acting in anger towards him, even taking his concerns seriously.[9] It is hinted that Sango also understands the Conan is no ordinary seven year old boy, and very smart for his age. The Detective Boys also very much like Sango, they were able to help him solve a murder case via their demonstration in an episode.[14] They believe that he is a nice and kind man, unlike his twin brother, Jugo, whom they find to be a much meaner person.[16] However, his looks have led Ayumi to wonder why he cannot swim, because his "head looks like a coral!"[14]

Sango's name comes from mystery writer Seishi Yokomizo.
