<spoiler>The murderer was Todakoro, in punishment for Torakura causing the death of his sister Karin. Having promised to pay for her medical bills in exchange for Todakoro's work, Torakura instead bribed her doctor and nurse to keep her merely stable, which ultimately caused her death; then, he kept bribing them to lie to Todakoro and make him believe Karin was still alive. The nurse was so guilt-ridden that she told Todakoro the truth, and so he lost it and ultimately killed his mentor.
