Situation

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan pass by a woman named Kyoko Takahata who passes out upon receiving a phone call that her brother-in-law, Itsuro Soejima, was found dead in her home.

Accident?

Location: Takahata's house

Victim: Itsuro Soejima

Age: 27 years old

Cause of death: Blunt force trauma after chandelier fall on the head

Suspects: Kyoko Takahata

It seems that Soejima shot the the chandler and falls on the head. Was this accident?

They head to her house along with the police to discover that the drunk Soejima died when he fired a shotgun toward the ceiling, which caused a chandelier to fall on top of him.

The police conclude it's suicide, however Conan believes it was a carefully planned murder. Conan investigates and discovers that in half a year, there were nine incidents where Soejima almost died due to his alcoholism and that Takahata was involved in all nine incidents.

After gathering the evidence, Conan gathers Kogoro, the police and Takahata and tranquilizes Kogoro to reveal his deductions.

Conan reveals that Kyoko Takahata called Soejima to her home and had prepared the alcohol and shotgun to tempt Soejima, who is a recovering alcoholic. As evidence, Conan reveals that a piece of her nail was found in Soejima's house and that she was searching for his cellphone which evidenced that she called him to her place.

Takahata confesses and reveals that she killed Soejima because she was sure that he caused the death of her beloved sister. Conan reveals that a message from her sister's phone reveals she died of an illness and that she loved Soejima very much, and that she asked Soejima to promise her to go and apologized to her beloved sister when he become a better person, which he tried to. Takahata has a breakdown over said revelation.

Aftermath

At night, Kogoro tries to put on practice his temptation to alcohol by putting a load of beer bottles on a table and looks at them while Ran and Conan just know what will happen next. Then, unable to resist, Kogoro grabs a couple of bottles and drinks them out which proves he won't be leaving his temptation soon.

• This episode used the song "PRAY", by B'z, as the alternate ending for Hello Mr. my yesterday.
