Looking at the raw of volume 24, I see that the nickname for APTX 4869 is written as ''出来損(な)いの名探偵''. "Good-for-nothing (Great) Detective" seems to be a more accurate translation of this term. "Prototype/Incomplete Detective" (試作段階の名探偵) is the meaning of the name "Sherrinford" as Conan explained to Ai. What do you guys think?

Apotoxin or Apoptoxin?

Flipping through Volume 24 of the English translation by Viz after seeing a query on Tumblr I discovered that the translation decided to use "Apotoxin" in Anita's (Haibara's) explanation of its connection to apoptosis. Should we switch our spellings back to "Apotoxin" instead? --Skyechan (talk) 05:38, 14 August 2014 (CEST)

I prefer Apoptoxin, although I don't really have a strong opinion on the matter because it's a made up word in a foreign language. The extra p lends itself to the usual Japanese tendency to smash two English words together to make a new one: Apopto + toxin. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 09:22, 14 August 2014 (CEST)

The drug's nickname

Looking at the raw of volume 24, I see that the nickname for APTX 4869 is written as 出来損(な)いの名探偵. "Good-for-nothing (Great) Detective" seems to be a more accurate translation of this term. "Prototype/Incomplete Detective" (試作段階の名探偵) is the meaning of the name "Sherrinford" as Conan explained to Ai. What do you guys think? --DevlinShad (talk) 15:56, 21 February 2017 (CET)
