Ken Araya started animation in 1990 and became staff in Detective Conan for the first time in 2012 for movie 16: The Eleventh Striker, as key animation. In the anime, he first started in March 2013 in episode 692: The Evening Cherry Blossom Viewing Route on Sumida River (part 1) as key animation.

He first became animation director in July 2017 in episode 867: The Betrayal's Stage (part 2) and is still active to this day, taking on the roles of key animation, animation director and assistant animation director alternatively. In the movies, he became assistant animation director for the first time in 2018 in movie 22: Zero the Enforcer. In Q4 2022, Araya was animation director in 4 episodes of the Hanzawa the Criminal anime.
