+ | Shinichi concludes that the murderer is '''Kana Ishihara'''. Since Kana knows that Nagata always drinks two cups of tea, right before pouring tea for him, she got the poison on her thumb, and then as she was giving the cup to Nagata, she smeared the poison right at the spot with the spoon. The poison is found in Kana's apron. Kana confesses and says that her motive for killing Nagata was to seek revenge on Nagata since he drove her lover, Keisuke Kimura to suicide. However, upon reading the letter that Nagata gave Shinichi before, it is revealed that Nagata had cancer, and he already knew about Kana's murder plan. He also wishes for Kana's sentence to be reduce, as he holds responsibility for Keisuke's death, even though Nagata's criticism was only intended to make Keisuke, who Nagata knew that had potential, better. Kana then breaks down in tears. | ||
