Plot
While driving through the city at night, Chianti complains that Kir still isn't found despite all the resources the organization had spent, but it is to be expected from FBI. Korn insists that Kir is surely dead, to which Chianti replies that it might be the favourable alternative to her being brainwashed by FBI and turning on them. Gin, who is in another car with Vodka driving, joins the conversation over the phone. He says it is pointless to worry since Kir had been severely tortured before (shot on all four limbs, beaten until her ribs is broken, and given a truth serum), and still did not say anything. Vodka asks if Gin is talking about the case that made Kir win favour over That Person, and Chianti adds that she has heard about the case too: Kir had noticed and confronted The Rat who infiltrated them, but was tortured until she was nearly dead before Gin and Vodka came to rescue her. However, she doesn't understand why that incident made enough impression on That Person for Kir to earn her position working with their team. Gin answers that it was the teeth, then elaborates that Kir had used has last weapon to bite the Rat’s wrist until the bone was visible, stole his gun, and shot him under the chin even though she could barely move her finger. Chianti continues, asking how they know Kir didn’t spill anything, consider that The Rat is dead. Gin replies that there was an MD inside the Rat’s coat which contain his voice during the interrogation. Chianti understands then that there was no Kir’s voice on the MD.
Gin notes that the Rat wasn’t an ordinary spy given his many fake identities across passports and driver's licenses, but they do know his real name. Vodka adds that the Rat’s friend rushed in and whispered the name to the corpse again and again, then killed himself when he noticed their presence, but he couldn’t hear the name since he was a bit too far away. Gin says he can’t remember it either, since he tends not to remember the faces and names of the dead, but he already has an some general idea about the Rat's real identity and will try asking Kir about the name when she comes back. He also has a good idea where she might be and is already investigating it.
On Sunday morning at Café Poirot, Kogoro is annoyed to see Eisuke showing up at 7 AM when he wants to savour his day off. Eisuke explains that he brought in an interesting case, but Kogoro is not interested when he finds out it is just a story from the internet and no actual client. Conan also says that Kogoro has no time, much to Ran's surprise since Conan was usually presssing about case details. Conan remarks internally that he would be interested if it wasn’t Eisuke who brought it up. However, Conan is suddenly interested when Eisuke mentions that the story might be a made-up story based on The Red-Headed League. After Azusa joins the conversation with a summary of the The Red-Headed League, Kogoro is curious too, and he demands Eisuke to explain more.
