A little topic to discuss this kind of movie (unfortunately rarely good, if ever).

Some of those movies with their trailers:

Dragon Ball Evolution:

Dragon Ball The Magic Begins (unofficial adaptation), Ultimate Edition trailer:

City Hunter:

Mr Mumble (unofficial adaptation of City Hunter):

Fist of the North Star (Hokuto No Ken):

Touch:

I would have liked to add the movies "Cat's Eye 2000" and "Tokyo Babylon 1999" (which were released in 1997 and 1993 respectively, despite their titles), but unfortunately I couldn't find any trailer for those movies.

If you have seen any of those movies, or others, what did you think of them ? Don't hesitate to introduce new movies and to discuss why you think that, unfortunately, most of them ended as failure despite the potential of the manga source.

I didn't know Speed Racer was an adaptation from a manga.

you said manga or anime... and to the best of my knowledge, the Speed Racer live-action movie was based on the anime

A newcomer: Space Battleship Yamato (aka Starblazers).

The movie just came out in France and, even though it's not really a great film (but it's still good), it is the only space opera I've seen so far which gives me the same chills I feel with the very first Star Wars movies. The action sequences of this movie are just AWESOME ! It really feels like we're back at the time of the first Death Star space battle, but with the visual effects of today.

The only thing which prevents him from being a really great movie is the fact that the story is too classic now (a space ship who travels in the universe to find a way to cure the earth from pollution), but it's still a good space opera to enjoy.

Eh?! Nobody watched the Death Note live Actions?! Er! I love Death Note Live Actions because L didn't die before Light die :)

my favorite live action base on manga is HONEY AND CLOVER! You should try to watch that also! :) watch the Taiwanese version,Japanese version of Honey and Clover is...kinda boring for me <_<

BECK-watches because I want to see how Shiori Kutsuna would act (I watched that before DC LA 3)

Gokusen! Watch them all xD

Tantei GAkuen Q live action movie ^^

Hell yeah! Epic Anime and movie. I liked the Death Note one too, but only because L actually looked like himself. The stories and stuff were lame. Detective Conan I only cared for the Showdown with the Black Organization one. I watched all the movies and tried the drama series, but they weren't so great. And Ouran I only saw a little, but it seems pretty similar to the anime. I want to see a live action Hetalia movie. -w-

just saw a 1-episode live action special of Cardfight: Vanguard that gave me feels I didn't know existed for that show :P

and don't forget about the upcoming Rurouni Kenshin movie, starting Takeru Sato, who also played Ryoutarou on Kamen Rider Den-O ^_^
