Why does Megure wear grey in movies?

I don't think it matters what color he's in, because the stories aren't canon

...and I know that's kind of a cop-out, but I can't imagine too many people put much thought into it besides the people in charge of making the character designs

Some thought was put into it. It's to make the movies seem more special. Goofy little Easter egg that wasn't meant to be completely noticed and appreciated by everyone, but there you go.
