dw5chaosfan Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Anyway, my father is being a stock market fanboy and thinks that the republicans should win the next presidental election. What do you guys think?
Parkur Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I get the feeling CC and I are gonna kill each other in here
tengaku squared Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I get the feeling CC and I are gonna kill each other in here I can't wait. Anyways, the whole world's corrupt. Electing new representatives will not help when the roots are rotten. That is all.
Aeyra Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Politics: One party is elected. That part screws up. The other party is elected. That one screws up too. So back to the first one. Then to the second. And so on, so forth. Honestly, as long as I'm not stripped of my money and rights, I don't care who gets elected. They all promise good things, but they never seem to happen, do they?

Aeyra Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Politicians are pretty much specialists in making empty promises. That's the whole point. Oh, and making things much more complicated than they need to be.
tengaku squared Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 That's the whole point. Oh, and making things much more complicated than they need to be. That complication of facts helps their ultimate purpose: To stay in office.
akane Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I only care about politics when you can make fun of them. (Which is unfortunately becoming more often...)
tengaku squared Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I only care about politics when you can make fun of them. (Which is unfortunately becoming more often...) Politicians are our serious comedians. :V
dw5chaosfan Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 They can be, but the thing is the country is going on a huge spending and tax raising tantrum. THe democrats are responsible, so I think Obama will not be our president in 2013.
Anti-APTX4869 Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 The thing about politics: They(congress/ government/ state/ what-ever-you-want-to-call-it) mess it up, they blame on president, we start to think it's the president's fault, new president elected, the blames passes down generations to generations. Ever wonder why we have so much debt?
tengaku squared Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Everything blames it on the president. Guys, the president really has no say in anything relating to laws.
AJ M. Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 ^ ^ This shows that the President isn't responsible or at power for everything U.S.A. Just because he is "Commander in Chief" doesn't mean that Americans should put all of the blame on the president for every problem we are encountering (even if he is responsible for some political or economic issues).
Anti-APTX4869 Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Everything blames it on the president. Guys, the president really has no say in anything relating to laws. ^ This. It's just sad. Politics are so weird. I don't know what to say about it anymore...
tengaku squared Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Honestly, that representation, IMO, is pretty useless.
AJ M. Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Honestly, that representation, IMO, is pretty useless. Well whatever your opinion is, it shows the limits of powers between the Congress, Supreme Court, and the president and how they can "check" one another. I'm just saying how the president isn't responsible for laws that people are against (Legislative branch is responsible for making them, judicial branch is responsible for interpreting them). So I don't really care if you see it as useless, I'm trying to make a point (whether you believe the representation strengthens or weakens it).

The idea of checks and balances is a good idea in theory, but eventually that will fail. And there are a LOT of checks and balances between the three branches. Also, "check"... BTW, is the news about the economy overrated? I keep waiting for the end or something like that, but nothing seems to be happening around me.

And I'm wondering the same thing about the economy. I don't feel affected that much (except by gas prices of course).
tengaku squared Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Oh, my bad lol. I can get pretty heated, I guess you could say, in debates. I can get quite flared up in debates when I need to. :x Anyways, the whole world seems to be going up in flames. EDIT: Gas prices, huh? :/
AJ M. Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 EDIT: Gas prices, huh? :/ Yup, the highest I've seen in the past two weeks was $3.89 per gallon.
dw5chaosfan Posted September 27, 2011 Author Report Posted September 27, 2011 That is low. In NYC, we have them at about $4.50 a gallon.
Lia. Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 The country I'm a citizen of has an entirely corrupt government. I don't understand why the people keep voting for the wrong party...
Anti-APTX4869 Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 A lot of things are unknown to us regular citizens. If you go to like CIA, or some document whatever they call that place, you will be amazed how simple it is to solve this mess. "Burn it all down."
Lia. Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 WikiLeaks had something about the government's POV on education. They (this government) says that it is better if the citizens of their country don't go to college/university because there are 'many other jobs' (eg. Waiter, Janitor, Bus Driver, etc.) that don't need a college degree to work.
Anti-APTX4869 Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Oh man I like that website for giving all that useful info.
