I've decided to allow commenting in thread. In the event that I need more space I'll request a mod split the topic for discussion and reference. However for now, I'm opening the thread for comment and critique. This is especially for the APTX analysis. Welcome one and all to Kyuu's Detective Conan Toxicology thread! I will be posting analysis of the drugs and toxins found in DC that have been used in conjunction with cases (Yes, that includes APTX). There are THREE CATEGORIES of drugs that I'll be doing: 1) Real (Drugs and Toxins that were 100% identified by the series.) 2) Theoretical (APTX basically) 3) Semi-theoretical (Drugs that are possible IRL, but are not identified by Gosho, and can be determined to some degree of accuracy using the information in manga canon) (unnamed poisons and Conan's tranquilizer mostly) Key Terms that you will need to know and understand before reading my analysis: LD50 - Dosage of a toxic agent that will cause death in 50% of treated animals LC50 - Concentration of a toxic agent that will cause death in 50% of the treated animals T1/2 - Biological half-life. How long it takes the concentration in the biological system to be halved. LOAEL - Lowest observable adverse effect level. The amount of a toxin that causes an observable negative effect (your basic symptoms of poisoning without dying, if you have ever seen a drug commercial, you should know most of them) Bioavailability - How much of a drug reaches circulation unchanged in a biological system. IV is always 100% bioavailability, as it is direct to circulatory system. ADME - Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion Absorption - How a drug is/can be administered Distribution - how a drug is distributed throughout the body (and what barriers it needs to pass) Metabolism - how the drug is metabolized by the biological system Excretion - how the drug is expelled from the body Those are the main, if I come to a point where I need to explain the more complex terms, I shall append them. I will make every effort to make this easy to read and understand for all. Drugs will be completely analyzed most likely using Toxnet a lot. I'll be using some other resources as well as needed. Everything will be fully referenced. If you use this information for any reason, PLEASE do the same. The drugs currently in planned to be analyzed are: (links will be added as analysis are done) APTX Tetrodotoxin Potassium Cyanide Sea Snake Venom (erabutoxin) Curare (possibly from poison dart case) Batrachotoxin (possibly from the poison dart case) Chlorine Potassium Chloride Phosphoric Acid Carbon Monoxide Aconitine (by Kjeldahl) More may be added as I reread the chapters and watch the episodes that the ones omitted appeared in while I look everything up. Also, this is being done on my own time, so I'm not sure how many I can/will get done. The ones that I am sure of are the top 3, and Carbon Monoxide. Everything else depends on my time and schedule. It is amusing, as this is between Kogoro and Shinichi. I do a bit of research, and mostly Kogoro does not hit Conan for no apparent reason, but recent case is about deduction battle and authority. Somehow it did do Kogoro good, their deduction show subtlely right in front of him or around when they are on each case. What I'm surprised most is when Kogoro openly work with Conan together on the case investigating the death of woman, live with clocks in her home. It seems Kogoro catching on and been making effort. I'll jog down the list: Kogoro making comment about Conan's voice 'Alele'. On Takagi's fake wedding day he hit Conan for beating to him getting answers. Kogoro isn't amused to hear Conan refused to disclose more of his deduction when solving case of red wall... Kogoro was annoyed to see Conan beat to him, swore to hear his voice was used to deduce and likely is afraid if he open his eyes to see Conan denying/look innocent by acting as kid afterwards. Shinichi was at London confessing to Ran, and Kogoro knows after hear from Ran as he did wonder about Conan and Agasa being together. Kogoro was invited to the party and openly working together with Conan. But, Kogoro can trust himself to work with Conan as Heiji show up many times and somehow Kogoro notice Conan's intelligence is unnatural as seven years old. Kogoro may not be clever, but I think now he is incline to hear more Conan and really started to get his eyes peel open, like Heiji hang around Conan second time. He may not know the reason, but already suspecting when he allow to lead Conan to work on his own after hearing from police they can rely on Shinichi. Lastly, Amuro show up to be Kogoro's apprentice and Kogoro already notice he's not simple student who immediately understand the case well. Afterwards we had not see more from Amuro then on, Kogoro already figure Amuro is hiding something as he was on his own minding affair and his own business. Earlier Kogoro and Ran look strange, it could be reason of foreboding feeling something happen and pointed towards the kidnapping. Lastly, if Kogoro saw Heiji and Conan openly, he will figure out the way to understand Conan by acting a bit like Heiji, leading him to deduce openly but it fail, until he decide to work together with him and slowly figure out why Conan act so natural around Heiji. And, Kogoro find strange why Conan don't want to sit with them since they are his guardian as he spend a lot of time with them. From my other post: Conan reveal himself too much with Heiji around. Kogoro stop hitting him after Shinichi show up at London. Kogoro's good at assuming if Conan hang around with Agasa, because Agasa trust them to take care Shinichi and Shinichi likes to hang around with Ran, Kogoro can pick up easily at this sudden change when Ran mention Shinichi. 'Why so sneaky? Why don't tell Ran Shinichi's on the plane and is it necessary to take another plane?' Kogoro will find everything is fishy and learn apparently Shinichi did show up in London, already suspect every happening around Shinichi are fishy and odd. This could be distracting and running Kogoro's mind, he will think way to find answer. He already saw Heiji and Conan work together, if leading Conan deduce himself, he won't get any answer unless he started openly working with Conan to find answer.

If I save you then you will be saved but if I don't save you you will not be saved but the world will still go on therefore saving you is not significant however due to the fact I can't read people's minds or predict what they will do unless I have some clue or psychic powers hence regardless of whether I save you or not I don't know if the next person will be kind enough as such but if by some action of mine you survive no matter how severe the injuries you will still be alive therefore I will have saved you. If fate predicts everything then fate can also predict the changes that will be made in it but they won't be changes as they will have been predicted. But it seems you will be far from saved by the time I finished writing this. Since it is apparently up to me I save you. Though this you can be anyone as I have not specified and/or can be negating the fact I have to save the person above me.

ZOMG! The magical powers of PRACTICE. O.o (and the power of inspiration. I started this at like- 7 last night and worked for four hours, and then worked on it for about two, three hours today, and I don't even feel the time I spent... XD) Look! First non-crappy background! Achievement! I think this is definitely the best thing I've drawn so far ever. :3 Comments please! Tell me what to improve on! (I know some of the anatomy is weird, but I just can't put my tongue/eyes on it....)
