Debt Collector1.jpg and Debt Collector2.jpg link to two Episodes but I thought the two Debt Collecting Men were only in the Mysterious Pond Episode. Perhaps someone realised the names had already been used because I doubt that two minor characters would appear in more than one episode - but maybe I'm wrong. Let me know your reply :) Hstar 20:16, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Collectibles Table Template

Hey Maurice! Thank you for making a template for the collectibles. There seems to be a minor problem though. Looking at the Collectibles page it seems that there's an error somewhere in the coding for the template; information entered in doesn't seem to appearing correctly. Thanks in advance! :) --Skyechan 02:25, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Something's wrong

Maurice-sama, something's wrong that we can't upload images. Can you fix the problem? --S261157 20:30, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello!

Hey Maurice, kinda new here. Hope that you will be able to teach me new things here =D -- Yoyoboiboy 7:55, 6 May 2011 (GMT+8)

Advice

Maurice-sama, can you try to contact Shogakukan at info@shogakukan.co.jp? I try to ask them a question of that they can contact the authors like Gosho Aoyama. But they won't respond to me. I was thinking maybe it was the tsunami problem. There's also another thing that I just don't get it. If the Detective Conan manga always get published at Shogakukan. Why don't they ever respond to my question? Of course I send them a message by using Japanese language and English message (just in case) but why won't they ever respond to me? So you know I was kind of asking you a favor. Can you try to contact Shogakukan at info@shogakukan.co.jp? --S261157 04:27, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Uhm....hello? Aren't you going to answer me? I just want to talk to you. Can you talk to me about it? The Shogakukan? --S261157 20:20, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

One page or multipage case?

What do you do for pages when you have a single case that takes up multiple episodes, but doesn't follow the 'Episode name part 1/2" naming format? Specifically I am referring to The Crisis Beckoned by the Red Omen. It started as multiple pages, one for each episode, was collapsed into one page for all the episodes like the usual 'Episode name part 1/2" cases are, then it has since been expanded back into one page per episode. What is proper here? Chekhov MacGuffin talk 02:57, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

That's what I thought, but I didn't want to get into a revert war with S261157 without being sure I was doing the right thing. "Tomorrow is there" is the manga chapter name for the entire suicidal guy case which became 2/3rds of the first episode of that series. "Thirteen red shirts" I made up; not the best idea, but I figured it was descriptive. I could go with "Hint of Red and Thirteen" which was a manga chapter name for the thirteen red shirts case. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 03:05, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Please

Maurice-sama please I beg you!! Please chage the way it was before. I so do not like this. On The Crisis Beckoned by the Red Omen. Thats's not how it supposed to be!!! One episode has to be one episode! Yeah of course it's like 1/2 cases but still, please chage it back please I beg you! It's my turn to ask you and please can you do it? --S261157 21:22, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Need third opinion

There is a minor edit war going on Vermouth in the non-aging section. You can follow my series of responses on the Vermouth article talk page, since the user replaced their talk page with "If you're not going to read my posts and ignore details, like the fact that an additional adjective is necessary, completely ignore the presented reasoning, and cast your unsubstantiated reasoning as a fact, then I'm just going to allow the talk page to stand like this and eradicate all speculations from the site. If you undo that, then congratulations, you've made me not able to trust a word this wiki has to say."

My rose tinted view of the argument are that basically I asked Wildcardmma to back up his/her statement that Vermouth has shown suicidal tendencies with references without success. (Note that I didn't remove said suicidal line from the article while the argument was in progress.) Without references, I suggested a compromise that avoided the word suicidal without effectively changing the content or meaning of the line: "However, given that Vermouth has said depressing things over the course of the series, both as a role she plays and as herself, it is possible she took the drug hoping to die, but was made younger like Haibara". it seems Wildcardmma was not pleased with this suggestion.
Also there was a disagreement about what the Black Org was doing by using APTX 4869 on people. Wildcardmma said field testing, I said murder weapon only (and provided multiple quotes to this effect). It really didn't matter to the content of the article as far as I can tell, but may have fueled her perception I was trying to force my own way, or something like that.
In the middle of all this, an IP came through and deleted the section because it contained speculation. (Edit summary: Wikis are supposed to be about facts. That paragraph was a statistical analysis and conclusion that may not be right, which led to the addition of possibilities by certain user(s).) I reverted because there is no policy against speculation (assuming it is informed and referenced), and because speculation sections (with competing ideas) are widespread across virtually all plot and plot character articles.
Basically, I think I have handled this as best as I can, but I hoping to get your opinion on this, and suggestions on what to do with speculation sections. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 19:46, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Suzuki Sonoko

The IP who changed that just now is a long term vandal who vandalized Eisuke once, but since then adds random characters to various episode cast lists. He's a low frequency vandal (less than once a week) who generally only makes a small number of bad edits at a time. I've never seen anything productive out of him. The IPs used so far are

  • 180.190.163.16 - (Philippines Makati Gbb-vismin-ip-pool) (180.0.0.0 - 180.255.255.255)

New Here

Hi I'm new here. Just letting you know. If there's anything I should know please tell me. Hstar 15:55, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank You!

Thank you for cleaning up the Gallery Page I created, I was going to leave it and find an admin to clean it and you saved a lot of time, so thank you. I apologise if the pictures aren't very good quality. I just noticed that there aren't any DC Websites (that I could find) with Episode Galleries, this is a good website so I wanted it to be the first so I started uploading pictures. I need to get to grips with this website - I'm an Admin on the Pokemon Wiki you see. If there are any problems I'm guessing I can come to you for help! Hstar 17:23, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Okay so should I just take this Episode as a one off and add 30 relevant pictures (that way my hard work isn't put to waste) and then on Episode two (and all the other Episodes) have only thirty like you said? Or should I delete all the Episode 1 pictures and start off fresh with just minute by minute pictures with a maximum of thirty? Hstar 17:30, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

I've removed some irrelevant pictures for more space. If I end up having over 30 when I finish I'll try and delete as many as possible. Hstar 17:49, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

The Gallery's complete - 30 Images exactly. Feel free to make any adjustments and give me constructive criticism. Change the captions if you like. I'll move on to Episode 2 the day after tomorrow. I won't always be able to work this fast as I have school 5 days a week, but that doesn't mean I won't stop trying! Hstar 20:02, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I have no idea why the jpg is in capitals, if I figure out how to stop it I'll try but for the moment I'm clueless. I'll move on to Episode 2 and use your advice (I was going to change the first frames but I think I'll leave it and try to do it minute by minute on Episode 2 instead of frame by frame). File Sherlock Holmes

Hello Maurice, im rikku, a user from the german dcw. id like to ask, whether we can use the file named above in the german wiki as well. as philipp s. has told me, the german manga volume #1 doesnt provide aoyamas drawing for the detective picture book. certainly, there will be some kind of acknowledgment. yours, Rikku 18:53, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. Rikku 20:40, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Interwiki links

Hello again. a few month ago we started connecting the articles from both of the german and this english dcw. after we had some difficulties in the beginning of 2011 we finally could add a lot of the interwiki links to your wiki until now. im planning to check (and fix) the links regularly with my bot as well. id like to offer my help, adding interwiki links to the german wiki in your wiki, since the bot is checking back links anyway.

  1. i can publish the warning list somewhere here in the wiki, so you can add the correct interwiki links manually, or
  2. if it is ok for you, i can ask my bot add missing back links directly.

please let me know, what you think about this. yours, Rikku 18:53, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello Maurice. thanks a lot for your friendly reply. i havent added any interwiki links until now, since i have some problem to connect via api. i hope i can fix this soon. im very sorry i couldnt be much help until now. Rikku 20:40, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Episode 2's Gallery

The gallery for Episode Two is complete. Just giving you a heads up. Hstar 15:38, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I noticed you improved my captions on Episode 1's gallery, could I keep telling you when I finish a gallery? And then you change the captions? Only your captions are better than mine. Or to make it even quicker for me to upload, would you like me to upload them and you caption them?

Introduction, Question, and Suggestion

Hello there Maurice. I've been a member of this wiki for a good while now, mostly as a reader, but I have recently become more active around the site. Seeing as how I've pretty much spammed the Recent changes page a few times, I figured I should just introduce myself and thank you for running such an awesome wiki! Believe me, I've seen some pretty awful ones, so it's nice to see someone so dedicated!

Anyways, I have a question for you since I am posting here. Could you take a look at this template I made and see if it's alright? I mostly copied and pasted from pre existing navigational boxes, and I think it works as it is right now, but the font looks kind of funky, and I'm not sure if I have the coding right following my edits. I did intend to center the movie titles and keep them all in one box/row, however, which is why I am slightly concerned. Since none of the other templates I could find on the site used the format I was looking for, I had to improvise to the best of my ability. Sooooo, yeah. Haha. Thanks!

Lastly, I have a request. Or rather a suggestion. I absolutely LOVE the whole plot legend system you have going for the manga, and the symbols you added look great (particularly the one for the Black Organization). When I looked up the B.O. icon, it said you were the author of the image, so I thought it best that I ask you this: Could you make an icon representing Kaitou Kid related chapters? Perhaps you can model it off of the B.O. one I keep mentioning. Just a suggestion/request. Either way, you did a nice job setting the whole system up! Visuals and organization are what keep me coming back to informational sites such as this one after all. :P

Thank you for your time and good job again on running this site! :D Hope to hear back from you soon!

Kaito Kid

This is 69.150.185.236, Oh Oh Oh! On Plot system, make Kaito Kid's drawing as a symbol just like he put on those letters!

Help

This is 69.150.185.236, I have a problem, I can't put Kaito Kid symbols in OVA plots. I try preview but it's not showing Kaito Kid's symbol.

Confusing

This is 69.150.185.236, this is confusing. On Chinatown Deja Vu in the Rain, I'm not so sure that Hama is last name. I just put Hama Mike. Confusing when there's English and Japanese together. Is it Mike Hama or just Hama Mike?

Watch Section

Do you think we should have a watch section for Episodes? I'll do an example on Episode 1, have a look and then tell me your thoughts - if it's a bad idea I'll remove the section immediatly. Hstar 17:16, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

A Few Things

I'm still figuring out how to properly respond to comments left on Talk pages, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. As for this oddly formatted response, I'm pretty much OCD about everything looking nice, so this is my attempt at fitting everything in with one edit and still being organizaed. So, anyways, here we go...

RE: RE: Introduction, Question, and Suggestion

Thank you for your kind words about my kind words! lol I'm glad to hear comments such as my previous help motivate and encourage. I really do appreciate all of the hard work that this entire community put into the site. Detective Conan is an amazing series that I believe goes unappreciated at times. Communities and projects such as this Wiki really help spread word of the series and how dedicated the fans are! Kudos to you for starting this great site, and to everyone for maintaining it! I'll be sure to continue contributing because, just like yourself, I have enjoyed myself thus far! Thanks again! Oh, and the Kaito Kid symbol looks great! I've already seen it being integrated and it seems to be working out well! Thanks for listening to my request!

RE: Juzo Megure Appearances

Thank you again for your kind words! As for Wiki experience, I do have some. A few years back I contributed to Wikipedia frequently, but all the vandalism, rules, and arguing just took the fun out of it. It's been a few years since then, so I've gotten a little rusty, but I'm starting to get back into the hang of it. Smaller communities such as this seem to be more dedicated and enjoyable anyways, not to mention far less confrontational. Sure thing! You can count on me! :)

FBI Template

In my attempt to better organize and group together various articles, I decided to try and make a template for the FBI. Unfortuneatly, I can't quite decide on how the template should be organized. I've listed two of my different concepts below for you to visualize. Particularly with the second template, I used coding from other tables on the site to help me format. I'm not sure about what order the names should be listed in, or what color scheme should be used for the table overall, but I think those are pretty easy edits. If you could take a look at the two templates below and tell or show me what you think in terms of coding, organization, and edits needed for the final product, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Template 1

For the first template, I tried to integrate the FBI ensignia within the formatting. Perhaps the coding can be tweaked or image shifted to the right, but I think the template came out looking pretty nice. There aren't many articles at this point concerning the FBI for me to use in the template, so I simply listed all current agents on one row. The names are all to the right of the ensignia, centered with the remaining empty space. For the sake of information, I added Scar Akai next to Shuichi as his true identity has yet to be revealed. That can be reworked or removed entirely.

Federal Bureau of Investigation
FBI logo.png James BlackJodie StarlingShuichi Akai ( Scar Akai ) • Andre Camel

Template 2

The second template I created simply follows the formatting used here and here. Again, with so little information to go off of, I could only things into two rows: 'Active Agents' and 'Deceased Agents'. If consistence is important, this template is probably the better one to choose. On the 'Deceased Agents' row, I listed Akai Shuichi and Scar Akai, as his death is still up for debate. I would put Jodie's father here as well, but his name is unknown and he has never actually appeared to my knowledge. Anyways, height, width, and overall perimeters can be adjusted if need be, and again, some coding may need to be worked on. I'm slowly but surely getting the hang of Wiki format.

Deceased Agents Shuichi Akai (See Scar Akai for more)

Finale

I write a lot sometimes, so hopefully all of this doesn't overwhelm ya! lol Thanks for listening! --Jigsaw 22:50, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Video File=Media File?

Is it possible to upload videos to this website? I know you can upload Media Files so would a video count? It's a video of Episode 1 with subtitles. I was thinking maybe if I did Episode Galleries and videos that would be even better for articles. Also maybe we could adapt the watch section of this wiki (I know it's broken atm) and link it! Also that means that if school ever stops me from taking the time to create galleries I can still upload videos! Let me know your thoughts! Hstar 16:52, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Or I could re-link the watch section to valid links - it's a huge task but I'm up for it! Hstar 17:02, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Foreign Languages thing

How about instead in every Character's Article, we'll put a table called 'In other Languages'? Like this would be an example for Shinichi's Topic:

Language Name
日本語 Japanese 新一 Shin’ichi
English Jimmy
Français (French) Shinichi
Deutsch (German) Shinichi
عربي (Arabic) سنشي Sinshi
한국어 (Korean ) 남도일 Nam Doyle

From IP 109.235.49.143

Chekhov MaccGuffin

http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Talk:Vermouth#Confusing

Over the course of this page, I find that Chekhov has been less than considerate of other users' theories, and has said that a wiki is meant for just such behavior. I find it hard to believe that someone like this would be made moderator. He even went so far as to repeatedly ignore what I and two other users wrote when making his points. As another IP said, such behavior and a position of power casts serious doubt on anything posted on this wiki. I understand there's going to be debate, but that's not what he's after; this behavior is more akin to single-mindedness. I also found that he chased a certain user away, and evidently the other IP is not returning. And to be fair, I'm also not returning either once this situation is over. Clean up you moderator's behavior towards other users, or I'm going over your head.

Foreign thing help!

Right, so I when I started to add them to the Character pages such as Shinichi's Conan's and Mitsuhiko's, I realized I might need to make a Template, so eventually I made the Template but I want to as you a question: How do you make it so that the languages only appear if you type. Example if you write only the Korean one so

Which becomes:

Language Given Name Family Name
Flag of Japan Japanese
Flag of US English
Flag of France French
Flag of Germany German
Flag of Saudi Arabia.png Arabic
Flag of north.png 25pxKorean 코난 Konan n/a

How do you get rid of the Other Languages??? Can you please put the code for it to work. Becuase it kinda does for the Character Table Template Can you please reply once you fixed the problem. thanx ---conanshinichi 17:20, 20 May 2011 (UTC) hi]] 20:14, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Heads up on Vermouth issue

I've been dealing with, or trying to deal with, an IP over the issue of Vermouth's aging issue speculation section. There are a few IPs involved tracing to different locations but I am pretty sure they are the same user because on a wiki that gets maybe 50-100 edits a day total, and most IP edits to case pages, we have two separate IPs with the exact same viewpoints and editing style and one suddenly comes to the other's defense without any other editing elsewhere when you can have weeks between substantial IP edits in any character pages. You can read the discussion on talk:Vermouth, but to summarize, the issue has primarily been over references and interpretations of references. This user has not taken kindly to the fact that I have challenged various edits of theirs and undid some of their changes after I categorically referenced the statements the IP removed with difficult-to-dispute references. There is also a lot on nitpicking over words and phrasing and stuff. The user has deleted the speculation section twice and I've reverted. I've kept reasonably civil and focused on the article despite various accusations the IP has made. A third person view would be nice. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 21:27, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

I am damn impressed you made it through that discussion, enough to resort to an expletive. I am/was confused about something the user was trying to say so I am not surprised the discussion involved circles. It go so long I could hardly keep track of what was said. Thank you for responding. Character List Images

I know that there's a way to change what name is displayed in the character list using something like Char|Shinichi Kudo|display=Shinichi; is there a way to do something similar to change what image appears for the character? I think it'd be neat to be able to use live action images of the characters for the drama episode pages like here: Drama Episode 1. It seems bizarre to have the anime images on that page in my opinion. --Skyechan 03:25, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Why are there pictures in some Episode Templates? (e.g Episode 1) and some title screens in others? (e.g. 591) Is it better to have pictures or is it better to have title screens? If pictures then I'd love to help change as many title screens as possible! Hstar 16:08, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

69.148.232.113

Can you please talk to this user for me? I assume it is the same person that the site has had problems with in the past. I've been working on a project for the wikia offline quite a bit recently, but my recent unrelated edits (not related to images) have been reverted and deleted and vandalized consistently by this person. While I realize that a Wikia is a community working together for a joint-purpose, some of his edits and comments are just unnecessary and immature. If this is the same person that people have complained about in the past, then I don't think it would be wise for me to confront him. Special:Contributions/69.148.232.113 This recent edit comment "(→People: OMG, Jigsaw. She has a name. What is wrong with you!!!)" really bothered me. Perhaps I am taking this too personally, but I don't appreciate spending the time I do on here just to get attitude and have my contributions criticized. --Jigsaw 21:11, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much! I appreciate your kind words. :) Yeah, I normally wouldn't let it get to me; perhaps I was having an off day. --Jigsaw 16:34, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Home page for DCW

Can I ask you something, why does the front page have a really old featured article? That was there for like since I knew about DCW, which was a year ago. I presume it's probably older? thanx --conanshinichi 21:44, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Affiliating with Other DC Wikis

I know we somehow managed to affiliate with a German DC Wiki, and I recently stumbled across a French DC Wiki during research for collectibles. It doesn't have much on it yet, but it looks like it's off to a great start. Unfortunately I don't speak French, but I was curious if we could try asking if they'd like to affiliate with us. It'd be great for the "World" part of our name to become a reality and connect many different DC fans around the globe through our wikis. The wiki is called the "Black Org" and is found here --Skyechan 17:16, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Funniest part of this is that Maurice speaks French. :x This would be a PERFECT idea!! CarpetCrawlermessage me 21:53, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
Sounds fair enough. We'll keep checking back on them in the meantime. :) --Skyechan 00:17, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey Maurice! Looks like they've continually updated since I first mentioned them. May we ask them to affiliate with us like we did with the German wiki? :) (And if CC's right and you speak French this should be easy to accomplish! lol.) --Skyechan 03:08, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Better or Worse

When your editing a cast section of an episode, is it better to set it out like this:

Or this?

BeginBox

{{NewChar|name = Inspector Megure|image = Inspector Megure.jpg|link=Inspector Megure|description =

{{NewChar|name = Ayumi Yoshida|image = Ayumi Yoshida.jpg|link=Ayumi Yoshida|description =

EndBox

I can answer this. The first way (Char Appearances) is proper when doing a cast list of characters who have appeared before which is the case in most episodes. Begin box is used for case suspects and other people under the people section and for new characters. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 21:52, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Question

How would one determine whether people should be listed in the Cast box, the People section, or the Characters introduced section? My understanding was that the first appearance of an important or recurring character should be listed as such under Characters introduced. While judgment can occasionally blur here when it comes to Magic Kaito characters, what with the OVAs and a separate series of TV Specials, I think it's pretty self-explanatory. However, a recent edit here in which a user moved everyone from People to the Cast section has really gotten me confused. Was such an edit correct? If they were to be in the Cast box, I would imagine they need to have appeared before in the Detective Conan anime series, which none of them have. In most cases, I would move them to Characters introduced, but with so many people and very little significance to the series, I don't think that would be the case here. I guess, simply put, do they belong in the Cast box or the People section? I only question this because a similar situation seems to be accepted in this article. I'm probably over thinking this, but I like to get my facts straight before making judgment. Thanks! --Jigsaw 03:56, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

The characters of Yaiba is on the cast just like Lupin III vs. Detective Conan and Kindaichi Case Files on game. They're from different show so it's like special guests to the shows. So it's A-Okay! :) --S261157 04:55, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Maurice-sama, CarpetCrawler-sama, and NakagawaRyou worked on it together long time ago. Through the year of 2009 to 2010 and they’re all in cast. Here’s the past of the article. --S261157 07:04, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Desperate Request

Can you please delete these articles: Kyousuke Kazato and Toshiya Odagiri? Irish IS an important character but those 2 are regular people for Movie 4. Plus you said you will delete those two. They're not really important. Irish is important because of Black Organization article. I don't want to be rude but it has to be deleted and they are regular people after all. It can't be all the people who has their own articles. Right?

They are already categorized as "unnecessary articles" and are thus flagged to be deleted eventually. We'll delete those pages as soon as the information is transferred to the correct spots in the relevant articles. --Maurice talk 14:22, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Whenever users about to create character profile, they should have a talk with you first. You should put on instructions or something. You know it can't be all the people who owns their profile in the entire universe of the wiki. This time he can't be the part of the main characters.

Manga volume case description format

Recently User:CoolKid94 redid the first Manga Volume page that so that it the case description is on a per case basis instead of a per manga chapter basis. I'm not if that's a useful improvement. I likes having descriptions for every file instead of every case better. I don't mind the spoiler tags usage and such. What do you think? Chekhov MacGuffin talk 01:45, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Crimeboxes

One of the ongoing revert wars here at DCW seems to be where a crime box is located. When you get a chance, could you add something to the MoS concerning this topic? Also, if the correct format is for a crimebox to be midtext, is there a way to wrap text around it like you would an image? Thanks! --Jigsaw 23:07, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Problem

Maurice-sama, I have a problem. This user Daniel46 is putting crime boxes above the story. This is the best idea of putting crime boxes in the middle of the text. Like for example, While Conan and Ran were walking, they found the dead body. (Crime box appears) It makes more sense. Right? Do you agree? Check out Clash of Red and Black article for example. The multiple crime boxes occur in the middle of the story makes more sense and a perfect idea of the locations of the crime boxes occur. --S261157 21:39, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Concerning the current DC Style Wars

Hi, Maurice.

On the placement of the Crime Boxes, I'd like to comment that stylistically this measure is rather an eyesore. I mean, it's like placing the headline of a newspaper article into the middle of the main text. The Crime Boxes are in my opinion of an introductionary nature, giving an overwiew of the crime before the investigation begins. It's like in a real criminal case: The deed is done and discovered (as shown and summarized in the Crime Boxes), the police questions everyone, and the reconstruction of facts commences, recounting as to how the persons (in this case, Conan & Company) got involved in this case.

And I'd also like to comment on the difference between the Plot Overview and the Background descriptions for Hidemi Hondou. The facts provided so far are a mere summarization of her appearances and plot contributions in the series and should be treated as generic Background information, while the Plot Overview is used for more specific details. Like, look at the Ai Haibara and Heiji Hattori entries and compare their Background accounts with the information currently set in Hidemi Hondou. Also, the Background facts are written in Past Tense, while the Plot Overviews are usually set in Present Tense.
The splitting up of the currently available information for Hidemi Hondou is therefore as much as an eyesore as it is unnecessary. I am a novel reader and fledging book writer, so I can say that I have acquired a certain eye for literary style. So I ask you to reconsider the overall style in order to make this site a stylistic pleasure.

Yours sincerely,Daniel46 06:15, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi again, Maurice.

Just read your mail, and regarding the Crime Boxes, I think your suggestion of setting them at the end of a section has its merits in certain points. However, one must consider that in the case of Detective Conan, you always expect a criminal case to occur, and a Crime Box is in that point an announcement - or summarization - of the situation as it can be found on the crime scene. It's like the headline of a newspaper: It announces what's happened, drawing attention to the case at hand, and then follows the background (story) to that case. The police proceeds the same way with protocols, recounting what's happened up to the point of the crime, the persons the victim(s) have been in contact with, circumstances etc.
For your information: There are several TV shows which demonstrate this modus operandi, especially the German show "Aktenzeichen XY ... Ungelöst" ("File Sign XY ... Unsolved"). It's both a sort-of reality TV documentary as well as a licensed investigation aid for the German police to resolve difficult criminal cases. Many of these cases are reconstructed as short films, which describe the respective crime in as much detail as it is known, from the victim's background up to the date and location where the crime was committed, and sometimes the subsequent investigation. The series was (and still is) so successful that it inspired several international copies, most notably "America's Most Wanted." XY is all in German, I know, but just to peak your interest; I'd like to give you the website http://www.e110.de/; look for the keyword "XY-Sendung vom ..." to have a look into the latest epsiode to date. Several episodes are also featured on YouTube. If you've got any questions about XY - like a certain case type (murder, robbery etc.) you'd like to observe as a film (of course with a summary by my person) -, just give me the word and I'll give you a corresponding link for upload.

As for Hidemi Hondou, the information currently found on the chapter was originally posted by me ... in the Background section. Someone just decided to chop it up, adding little self-initiative work to 'complete' it. What I've written was solely intended for the Background and was (is) as compact as I could get it; if you look closer, you'll see that it's more general that detail, as it was intended. The same type of work I've done with Heiji Hattori, and initially there were some unreasonable changes, but ever since no one has done any more crippling so far. I suggest you closely compare the Heiji Hattori Background section with what's been done in Hidemi Hondou more recently (i.e. what is listed under Plot Overview now) ... and I hope you'll agree with me.

Yours sincerely,Daniel46 18:01, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Identical Gallery

Not to be inpolite but I found http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/User:S261157 has created an identical gallery to one of mine, but with a different name. Could that user just have moved the name of my original gallery instead of creating a duplicate, what is the point of creating a duplicate anyway? Is it a new wiki policy I haven't heard about? Episode Captions

Just so I know when creating Episode Galleries - should I bother with captions? Only people don't really read them because they're so long - I'm not saying remove the captions form previous galleries but I'm saying from now onwards should I stop captioning? Hstar 16:10, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Unless I compromise and just do one sentence captions so people keep interest and know what's going on without having to read lots? Hstar 16:48, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Ref Links (Manga, MK Chapters, etc.)

Hey Maurice! I'm attempting to make more templates similar to the ref anime template. I've started by trying to make one for manga files, but the results are a bit sloppy. I've tested the template here: Roller Coaster Murder Case#Case 1: Crime at the Private Mansion. As you see, the resulting link on the page looks kinda sloppy. I would like for the template to work so that it just lists "Manga File (number): (name of the file)". I don't know how to get the template to only display the titles of the files without having to list the full proper link. (Since unlike episodes the Files do not have their own individual pages.) Could you help me solve this little problem? :) Once this problem is solved I can create one for Magic Kaito chapters as well following your example. Thanks! --Skyechan 23:58, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Ah, good point. Nevermind then! Seemed like a good idea in my head at the time. xD;; --Skyechan 04:39, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Request

Maurice-sama, please delete this article, The Ryoma Treasure Battle Between Conan and Kid (Part 1). There's already an episode article about Ryoma. Thank you. --S261157 18:05, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Nevermind, Chekov got it.

Style Questions

I just have a few quick style/formatting questions:

  • For anime episodes, should the manga reference be a line formatted as
  1. Volume 6: File 9~Volume 7: File 1
  2. Volume 71: Files 3-11 (743-751)
    Volume 72: File 1 (752)?
  • The MoS prefers the spoilered conclusion of a case to include Evidence, Resolution, and Motive. These are a bullet list in the MoS, but I hope in the actual boxes those three can be used as headers, with paragraphs, bullets or numbered points beneath them.
  • What is the preference for a blank background vs non-blank background, and 100px vs 225px for characters on the Notable Case and Minor Recurring character pages?
  • When linking to an event, is it better to link to an episode, the manga file, or both? I've been erring on both for the minor recurring characters, for the moment.
  • Episodes use screenshots for illustration - if event is the exact same in the manga, could an anime shot be used for illustration in the manga summaries (color tends to feel more natural and less stark), or would it be better to use a manga screenshot?

Thanks! --Ocianne 05:41, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Debt Collector

Debt Collector1.jpg and Debt Collector2.jpg link to two Episodes but I thought the two Debt Collecting Men were only in the Mysterious Pond Episode. Perhaps someone realised the names had already been used because I doubt that two minor characters would appear in more than one episode - but maybe I'm wrong. Let me know your reply :) Hstar 20:16, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
