Story
As Spider returns to Japan, Kaitou Kid escapes from a successful heist for the third consecutive day. Inspector Nakamori vows to find out Kid’s true identity and Hakuba tells Nakamori that he has been studying the Phantom Thief and is close to deducing his true identity. However, what Hakuba doesn't tell anyone is that he is aware that Spider is back and was monitoring the heist Kid has had since last time. Deep in Akako's home, her crystal ball shows her Kaitou Kid's arrest by Saguru Hakuba.
The next morning, Hakuba came to school really tired but still managed to invite Kaito to the museum with Aoko. Akako tries to warn Kaito the next day but he just replied back saying that “Even if it’s a trap, he will still have to go and complete his mission even if I’m Kaitou Kid.” Akako was stumped by this but still harbors those feelings for him. She decides to go and help out Kaito by disguising herself as him and draw out Hakuba’s suspicion of Kaito.
Later at the museum, there is a display of pink sapphire which Kid will steal.

Hakuba talks with Kaito alone and handcuffs Kaito to himself so he can "prove" to Hakuba that he isn't Kid.
When the time of the heist is here, there wasn’t any sign of Kaitou Kid. Hakuba thinking that he won this 'match' when suddenly Kaitou Kid appeared and took the sapphire and escaped. That Kaitou Kid took out a broom and flew away. Noticing how this Kid screamed like a girl, Kaito figures out that this Kid must be Akako and so he manages to escape Hakuba’s handcuffs and helped Akako out a bit.
Back outside, Akako is relieved that Kaito is drawn out of suspicion and is ready to fly back but is approached by Spider who used an illusion on her and used her to attempt to kill Kid but he failed. Hakuba then came out and reveals that Spider’s true identity is the illusionist Gunter Von Goldberg II. When the police came Spider escapes by dropping a smoke bomb and goes away with the words, “The nightmare is always by your side”. The police came but fail to capture Kid but the jewel is saved.
