Sumio Watanabe (渡辺 純央 Watanabe Sumio?) is a Japanese animator. He does storyboard and key animation works in Detective Conan anime and movies. He is affiliated with Studio Guts.

Biography

Watanabe debuted as an animator in 1984, via the TV movie Lensman (SF新世紀レンズマン). From 2003 to 2007, Watanabe's frequency of serving the role of storyboard and director was extremly high, but currently he is doing key animation work more often. In addition, he had also served as the president of the "Meta Studio", a drawing department from Studio Guts. He is now giving lectures at Tokyo Zokei University (東京造形大学).

Starting with The Job Request from Inspector Megure in 2018, Watanabe started to participate in the Detective Conan anime production irregularly.
