Ninzaburo Shiratori (白鳥 任三郎 Shiratori Ninzaburou), also known as Nicholas Santos in the Funimation dub, is a character on the anime Detective Conan. Shiratori works alongside Inspector Megure, often acting as an extra officer or pair of eyes, though he later on becomes an inspector on his own. Originally, Shiratori only appeared in the movies, but later on became a regular member of Megure's force in the series, in a role similar to Wataru Takagi. Both him and Takagi are considered rivals for Miwako Sato's affections, and Shiratori will often try to show off in front of Takagi by asking Sato on a date to rich restaurants. Sato always rejects him however, much to his dismay.

Background
Shiratori's debut was in the first movie, The Time-Bombed Skyscraper, acting as a member of Megure's police force.[1] At first, Shiratori only appeared in movie roles, playing key roles in the first three Detective Conan movies. Shiratori's debut in the show was episode 146, Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story Part 1. It is announced in this episode that he has become a full time inspector.[2]
As a child, Shiratori witnessed a young Sumiko Kobayashi, whom for many years he believed was Officer Sato, confronting two adults trying to steal manga from a bookstore. To thank him for helping her out, Kobayashi bought him a drank and made a sakura petal pattern from the straw wrapper, saying the sakura was the symbol of courage for the Japanese police. It was because of this incident that Shiratori decided to become a cop.[3]
