Conan and Haibara rescue a kitten from a tree and return him to his owner, Tamotsu Ishigami, the owner of a local café. A woman barges into the café exclaiming she found her boss, Kenzo Kanemaru, dead.

Murder

Suspects: Tamotsu Ishigami, Fumie Imaoka, and Chika Murai

After Conan and Haibara save the kitten of Tamotsu Ishigami, they go to his shop, Fumie Imaoka, a janitor finds Kenzo Kanemura dead on his office's living room.

Conan, Haibara, Kogoro, and Ishigami enter office to confirm the Kanemaru's death and the authorities arrive. Conan notices that someone used the vacuum and threw away its contents and also finds the paw of a broken maneki neko.

After tranquilizing Kogoro, he reveals the culprit is Tamotsu Ishigami. First, Tamotsu was scheduled at 1:00 PM, but he can't go because he was very busy. But Kogoro told Conan to give something and it was a bloody pawprint, whose front paw was injured and the pawprint on the window of the president's office should be the same as the one on the handkerchief. Ishigami said that he hadn't come over. However, Cha-Cha did but it's unimaginable that a kitten opened the door and came in. The window was open, but there's a crime-prevention lattice, so even a cat couldn't jump in from outside. Which leave them one with one possibility: Cha-Cha came here with Ishigami. Tamotsu came here at 1:00 PM as promised on the memo and met with Kenzo. Then, Conan tells the police that there is something under the sofa, it was a beckoning cat fragment, that it was a fragment of the weapon Ishigami struck Kanemura with. In other words, that fragment came from another beckoning cat that didn't belong to this collection. And tells that, Ishigami bought a beckoning cat with its left paw raised, and came here a little before the 1:00 PM appointment and that was when he saw Chika. Kanemura, who had been struck by Chika only lost consciousness, and woke up soon after. Then, Ishigami give the beckoning cat that he bought but Kanemura refused because the left hand is raised, then Ishigami became angry and get the beckoning cat and then hit it on Kanemura. Startled at the situation, Cha-Cha injured her paw and frightened, escaped out the window. Meanwhile, he decided to frame Chika for the crime and dragged Kanemura's body out into the main room. He then looked around for any blood splatters and cleaned them up, collected the large fragments, and used the vacuum cleaner to collect the small ones. Then, along with the dust bag, he took them away. Unfortunately for him, a few pieces of evidence were left behind.

Tamotsu confesses and reveals Kenzo was trying to take his shop away from him. But, since he wasn't able to repay the money today he was going to take his shop away from him.
