The 4th eyecatch was created as a celebration for 30th anniversary of Detective Conan anime. It utilizes a combination between CGI and 2D animation. The brick hallway is remade and still animated in CGI, while the door front is drawn in 2D (similar to Eyecatch #1). The Detective Conan logo at the corner used in commercial break starts now has an animated effect.

An eyecatch (アイキャッチ aikyatchi?) is a scene or illustration that's commonly used to begin and end commercial breaks in a Japanese TV program. In Detective Conan anime, the eyecatch used is a brick hallway with torches leading to a large medieval door. It is also used for title cards, with the door opening to reveal the episode title, along with Conan's voice announcing it. There are four variants through the anime's history.

Description

For the title card, the Eyecatch #1 features the front of medieval door in bricks wall with two touches in each side, while for Eyecatch #2-4, a long hallway with touches is shown leading to the door. When the door is opened, the screen zooms in to the episode's title, with Conan announcing it.

For the start of commercial break, the episode starts to flash a white light, zooming out from the medieval door and closes it, then a Detective Conan logo appears at the right bottom corner before cutting to commercial. For the TV specials, an additional "Special" text is shown below the logo.

For the end of commercial break, the door opens again with the white light flashing before going back to the episode. For Eyecatch #3-4, the door unlocking sound-effect is heard before the door opens.

Variants

Eyecatch #1 (001-218)

The 1st eyecatch utilized during the Kenji Kodama directional era and later the 1st Yasuichiro Yamamoto era. It's animated with 2D traditional cel animation and it utilizes a short rendition of the original "Detective Conan" Main Theme.

Eyecatch #2 (219-452)

The 2nd eyecatch utilized at the end of Kenji Kodama directional era and mostly used in Masato Sato era. It is animated with 3D CGI animation and continues to utilize a short rendition of the original "Detective Conan" Main Theme. This eyecatch was produced in November 2000[1].

Eyecatch #3 (453-1186)

The 3rd eyecatch utilized at the end of Masato Sato directional era, then at Koujin Ochi era and in 2nd Yasuichiro Yamamoto era. Similar to Eyecatch #2, it is animated with 3D CGI animation using the same materials, however set in 16:9 aspect ratio due to the transition to digital broadcasting. This is the longest eyecatch variant used in the anime's history.

There are four music cues used for the eyecatch title card:

Eyecatch #4 (1187-current)

The 4th eyecatch was created as a celebration for 30th anniversary of Detective Conan anime. It utilizes a combination between CGI and 2D animation. The brick hallway is remade and still animated in CGI, while the door front is drawn in 2D (similar to Eyecatch #1).
