Yuko Okabe (岡部 優子 ,Okabe Yūko), not to be confused with an idol from the Pop Band AKB48 Yuko Oshima (大島 優子 ,Ōshima Yūko), is a Japanese screenplay writer born in Tokyo.

Biography

After working as an editor at Kawade Shobō Shinsha (河出書房新社) and Chikuma Shobo (筑摩書房で編集), Okabe debuted in the TV anime Chibi Maruko-chan (ちびまる子ちゃん) as a screenwriter. She also had written some books such as Chibi Maruko-chan Picture Book (ちびまる子ちゃんえほん), World Masterpiece Theater (世界名作劇場), and A Forest Where You Can Meet Beetles (カブトムシに会える森). Incidentally, she won the 9th Shoji Ohtomo Awards for the Honorable Mention.
