Razvy Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 I searched on these forums, but I couldn't find a Romanian Chatroom, so I'm starting one So let's begin. Salutare, românilor. Ce părere aveţi? Avem nevoie de un astfel de topic? 2
Valkyrie Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Oh my. I think there aren't many Romanians here. Why not teach Romanian here so other members can learn as well? I would love to learn Romanian! According to Google Translate: (Google translate sucks anyway ) Învaţă-ne român!
Razvy Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Posted December 19, 2011 Sure, why not? Oh, and yes...Google Translate sucks The correct form for "Learn us Romanian!" is "Învaţă-ne română". Ă is the missing piece. Lesson 1 The alphabet A Ă Â B C D E F G H Î I J K L M N O P Q R S Ş T Ţ U V W X Y Z a ă â b c d e f g h î i j k l m n o p q r s ş t ţ u v w x y z As you can see, in Romanian alphabet are 31 letters - 5 more letters that in the English alphabet. The letters Ă and  are never used at the start of a word. In Romanian, instead of Â, it is used Î/î at the beginning and the end of a word, so  don't exist, only â. The same is for Ă. There is no word that starts with Ă, so it would exist only ă. Common phrases Yes - Da No - Nu Hello! - Bună! Hi! - Salut! Welcome! - Bine aţi venit! Good bye! - La revedere! Bye! - Pa! Good morning! - Bună ziua!/Bună dimineaţa! Good night! - Noapte bună! Thank you! - Mulţumesc! Thanks! - Mersi! Sorry! - Scuze! I am sorry! - Îmi pare rău! You're welcome! - Cu plăcere! Please! (to someone older than you) - Vă rog! Please! (to someone at your age) - Te rog! Help! - Ajutor! How are you? - Ce faci? I'm fine, thanks! - Sunt bine, mulţumesc! What's your name? - Cum te numeşti? My name is... - Mă numesc.../Numele meu este... I love you! - Te iubesc! Happy Birthday! - La mulţi ani! Left - Stânga Right - Dreapta Up - Sus Down - Jos Numbers 1 - unu 2 - doi 3 - trei 4 - patru 5 - cinci 6 - şase 7 - şapte 8 - opt 9 - nouă 10- zece 11- unsprezece 12- doisprezece 13- treisprezece 14- patrusprezece/paisprezece 15- cincisprezece 16- şasesprezece/şaisprezece 17- şaptesprezece 18- optsprezece 19- nouăsprezece 20- două zeci Days of the week Monday - Luni Tuesday - Marţi Wednesday - Miercuri Thursday - Joi Friday - Vineri Saturday - Sâmbătă Sunday - Duminică
Valkyrie Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Sure, why not? Oh, and yes...Google Translate sucks The correct form for "Learn us Romanian!" is "Învaţă-ne română". Ă is the missing piece. Oh... I hate you Google. Thanks for the lesson! I mean, Mulţumesc! Romanian looks like French and Portuguese put together... It looks a little more easier than Russian so I guess I can learn! Russian has 33 alphabets and most of the letters sound very unlike English letters eventhough they might look the same! Talking about pronounciation, how those the letters sound?
Razvy Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Posted December 19, 2011 Oh... I hate you Google. Thanks for the lesson! I mean, Mulţumesc! Romanian looks like French and Portuguese put together... Talking about pronounciation, how those the letters sound? OMG what?! 33 alphabets?! or letters About the pronouncement, I did a quick search on Youtube for it and I found this: Those words in Romanian are written by the pronouncement, not the literary form. So, have a nice learning time And if you got any question, feel free to post here or PM me.
Valkyrie Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Mersi, Razvy! I like the woman in the video. She's cool. In the video, she said Romanian have 27 letters not 31....
Razvy Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Posted December 19, 2011 That's because she said that in Romanian are not Q, W and Y...which is not true. Ok, maybe it is, because we don't use them very often, but we still have them for some neologisms and other words Oh, and she didn't mention Î either, just Â.
Valkyrie Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Ohh... She's wrong then. You should do the videos, not her! I wanna try saying something. Here goes nothing: Bună! Ce faci? I'm tired so... Noapte bună! This is the furthest I can go. P.s: How do you say everyone in Romanian? Like, 'good night everyone' and 'hello everyone'???
Razvy Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Posted December 19, 2011 That's a perfect start. Keep up the good work and you'll be a master
Valkyrie Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Mersi! Bună ziua! Ce faci?
IdentityUnknown Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Almost read this as Romantic Chatroom and Classroom. =X I'll try Romanian sometime, but that'll have to wait until I finish the other languages I'm learning (or attempting to learn).

I nearly fell of the chair when I saw the first sentence. Nu, this isn't a Romantic Chatroom/classroom. XP What other languages are you learning?
Kyuu Nye Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 My good friend is Romanian. Should be interesting to learn more than what he has taught me. And Romanian is a very unique language... In that region I don't think there are any others like it. Also... There is another Romanian on the forums here... Shim Cheon Minri... Apparently she comes from Bucuresti. (Sorry I don't have the Romanian IME, and I don't feel like opening character map) 1

-The Rising Angel- Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Chiar faci Japoneză la şcoala? Mă ajuţi şi pe mine cu esenţialul? Dap, normal
Valkyrie Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 I feel so jealous that I don't know Romanian...
