IdentityUnknown peered in the bush cautiously, pointing her gun in front of her in case there was anyone there.
Nothing. IdentityUnknown breathed a sigh of relief. Probably just a stray cat or something. She'd been too cautious and lately her senses had sharpened -- she picked up the least bit of anything out of the ordinary.
Still, IdentityUnknown carefully searched the bush in case there had been something there. She came up empty handed, which was good. Satisfied, she started walking again.
Her decision had been rash, a word rarely used to describe IdentityUnknown, and she knew it. For some reason though, she didn't regret it. She knew she would never be able to forgive herself if she hadn't done it.
On her shoulders was a waterproof backpack with food, water, and weapons. It was enough to keep her going for quite a few days, provided she rationed herself. She also had a few gadgets that she'd received yesterday at the hotel -- a listening device, GPS, and...
IdentityUnknown glanced at her watch. It was different from yesterday, a dark, glossy blue with extra buttons. It would come in handy.
------
I have a plan for what the watch does, but I'm not going to tell any of you guys what it is. You can guess though. And again, more of a setting-the-scene post.
