  1. Apologies for the double post.

Here are translations of the higher quality 1,051 spoiler pics:

    Spoiler

    Page 1
Side text: Kazami has been locked down. And besides him, a corpse...

    Kazami: Yes...
Kazami: My deepest apologies, but I don't know where I am...

Kazami: I was pursuing the man who we suspected to have stolen a large amount of bombs used for drilling, but...
Kazami: I was taken by surprise and got hit from behind... When I regained consciousness, i was in some kind of basement...

    Amuro: How about GPS?
Kazami: Negative... It seems my smartphone has been taken by that man, so...

Kazami: I-I had no other choice but to borrow the cellular that was in the pocket of the corpse that was thrown in this basement and call you with it...
Kazami: H-However, there's only little battery left...
    Amuro: And the corpse?
Amuro: Did he get killed by that man?

    Kazami: P-Probably...
Kazami: W-Well, It's fine! I can somehow break out of this room with my own strength...
    Amuro: Stop it, Kazami...

Amuro: If you act in an imprudent way, it will excite the culprit and the worst outcome will be unavoidable...
    Amuro: I will go...

Amuro: Before you become a corpse, yourself...

    File 1051: An Omnious Ranch

Text: The reliable man takes action when his subordinate is in a pinch...

    Page 4
Kobayashi: You have to learn from the person from the ranch who is willing to give us his chickens to raise them...
    Kobayashi: Don't forget about that!
    DB: Yeeeeees!

Kobayashi: Is it really okay, I wonder?
Rumi: But why did you bring the students with us?
Rumi: If it's to learn how to raise them, both of us can do that...

    Kobayashi: Wakasa-sensei...
Kobayashi: This is secret information that I meant to take with me to the grave, but...
    Rumi: Yes?

Kobayashi: In fact, I am not good with birds...
    Rumi: I-Is that so?

Kobayashi: Since the moment I saw as a child on the TV a footage of vultures gathering around a dead zebra and devouring him greedily...
Kobayashi: Those bulging eyes, and those pointed beaks...
Kobayashi: Have been scaring me so much...

Kobayashi: Therefore, although this is impossible for me, if these children record a video of when they are being looked after, I thought it would be easier to explain...
Rumi: But, Kobayashi-sensei, the policeman that you are dating....
Rumi: If I recall correctly, his name was "Shiratori..."*
TN: lit. "White bird," or "swan."

    Page 5
    Kobayashi: Huh? That's a name, isn't it?
Kobayashi: Then, if Wakasa-sensei had someone named "Karasuda", would you think he's a crow?
    Rumi: I-I wouldn't think so...

Rumi: It's just that... in case he's a crow, then he would be a pitch black, cunning person, hard to approach, who forms factions and makes moves...
Rumi: That's the image I just have...

Rumi: Well, of all people... He might be someone fun and bright for all we know...
Kobayashi: Ah, that might be the case...
    Conan: ......

    Conan (Internal monologue): Crow...

    Conan (Internal monologue): Karasuma Renya...
Conan (Internal monologue): The boss of the organization who shrank my body with that drug...

Conan (Internal monologue): And Wakasa-sensei is...
Conan (Internal monologue): A candidate for this organization's No.2...
    Conan (Internal monologue): RUM...

Kobayashi: By the way, the name of the owner of the farm we're about to meet is "Hatoyama"*-san, right !
    TN: lit. "mountain dove"
Rumi: If he's a peaceful person like a dove, I'd like it!
Hat guy: Do you folks also go do Hatoyama farms?

    Page 9
Amuro: How about calling it a day?

Amuro: Mitsuhiko-kun, you should also erase the private footage that this person dislikes!
    Mitsuhiko: Right!
Amuro: It's fine that way, right?
    Knit-hat guy: Yeah...

    Kobayashi: So you are Amuro-san!
    Amuro: Ah, yes...
Kobayashi: I am the homeroom teacher of these children's class, Kobayashi!
Kobayashi: I heard a lot about you!

Kobayashi: Poirot's master said that he's also a detective!
Rumi: I am the assistant homeroom teacher, Wakasa! Pleased to meet you...
    Amuro: Greetings...

Conan: But where are you going to in this bus, Amuro-san?
Amuro: Like all of you, I also have some business at Hatoyama farm...

    Conan: I see...
Amuro: I'll tell you more in details when we get there...

    Rumi: ......

    Page 16
    Kazami: Furuya-san!
Kazami: So you came to my rescue!
    Amuro (Internal monologue): Kazami...

Kazami: Thank goodness! I'm saved, now!
Amuro: I've been caught, too, so the situation hasn't changed at all...
Conan (Internal monologue): If I recall correctly, that person is Amuro-san's subordinate from the Security Bureau...

    Mitsuhiko: Errrr...
    Kobayashi: Who is "Furuya?"
    Amuro: This is my alias!
Amuro: When I work as a detective, it becomes necessary...

    Amuro: He is my assistant...
    Kazami: I...
    Kazami: I'm Hida Danroku!

    Conan: Say, aside from that...
Conan: A corpse has been laid on the bed...
    Kobayashi: Eeeeh!?

    Conan: That corpse's face...
Conan: He looks exactly like the man who imprisoned us here!

Text: A situation making no sense... Next issue, another chapter with a connected cover!

    Spoiler

    Page 2

    Vermouth: That's right...

Vermouth: I am not Akai Tsutomu...

    Vermouth: I am the woman...

Vermouth: Who is about to poison you with this drug...

    Vermouth: MI6 operative...

    Vermouth: Mary Akai.

Vermouth: At last, I caught you...

Vermouth: I was loitering around this town since long ago, you know?

Vermouth: With the face of your husband...

Mary: I see... You had our coworkers witness this disguise...

Mary: In order to lure me out to this country, you had to make sure I would come to confirm whether you were the real one...

Mary: And so I wouldn't suspect a trap, you pretended it was a coincidence, and waited 3 years before meeting again...

Vermouth: Yes... Because in order for Akai Tsutomu, who is supposed to be dead, to return to MI6... His wife who had suddenly disappeared—your existence—was the bottleneck of this...

Mary: It's true that, like in this case, I can tell whether it is my husband...

Mary: Or whether it's but a disguise of the witch with a thousand faces...

Side Text: The person opposing Mary—the witch, Vermouth...

    Page 3

    Mary: But it's a shame...

Mary: I told my daughter that if I didn't come back after some time, she should let MI6 know that this Akai Tsutomu is an impostor...

    Mary: And leave London...

Vermouth: Then perhaps I should disguise as you...

Vermouth: And go meet this daughter of yours?

Mary: Hmph... You sound so sure of where my daughter is...

Mary: There's no way you could know. You, who couldn't even grasp her existence...

    Vermouth: ...True...

Vermouth: It looks like I'd better infiltrate MI6 another time...

Vermouth: I'll just fulfill my other objective, then...

    Vermouth: Mary Akai's elimination...

Vermouth: If you live, it'll bother us in several ways...

    Vermouth: How does it feel?

Vermouth: Leaving this world, all thanks to the poison your little sister created...

    Page 4

    Mary: UWAAAAAAAAAAH...

    Mary: Urgh...

    Mary: Urgh...

    *splash*

    Vermouth: Tch...

    Passerby: What happened?

    Page 5

    Masumi: What's going on?

    *knock*

    *knock*

    Masumi: Mama!

    Masumi: Did you meet papa?

    Masumi: Huh?

    Masumi: Mama?

    Masumi: Uh...

    Masumi: Who are you?

    Mary: It's me...

Mary: I've been drugged with a strange poison and ended up like this...

Mary: But I'm really your mother, Mary... *cough* *cough*

Masumi: R-really?! Is it really you, mama?!

    [End flashback]

    Masumi: It's hard to believe...

  5. File 1,048 spoiler pics are now out—here's the translation of Pages 13 to 16:

    Spoiler

    Page 13:
Remi: If it's about the marker, I gave it back to my sister...
    Yumi: Y-Yes...
Yumi: I put it in my bag...
    Yumi: I-I didn't do it!
    Yumi: I wouldn't kill anybody!
    Yumi: Please believe me!
    Sonoko: Sera-chan, please do something!
Sera: Even if you tell me that...
    Sera: A call...
    Sera: From Mama!
    Sera: Yes?
Mary: How is it? Do you think you can get the medicine?
Sera: No, there's been a poisoning incident at the shop where the party's held...
Sera: So it's not the time for that!
Sera: I'll contact you again later...
    Mary: Poison...

    Page 14:
    Mary: Poisoning, huh...
    [A few months ago...]
    Mary: Oh...
    Mary: You're late, aren't you...
    Mary: Tsutomu-san...
    Tsutomu: My bad, Mary...
Tsutomu: It's been so long, I couldn't remember well the usual meeting spot...

    Page 15:
Tsutomu: I completely forgot that it was the Vauxhall Bridge's guard rail...
Tsutomu: Right in front of the SIS headquarters...
Mary: And? Did you find out who the culprit who killed Haneda Kouji?
Tsutomu: No, I didn't grasp anything except the fact that it's a really big organization...
Tsutomu: They set their eyes on me, so i desperately ran away, you see...
Mary: Then, why is it that you didn't contact me for several years?
Tsutomu: I told you when we met before on that uproarious road, didn't I?
Tsutomu: That when I was escaping from them, I got seriously injured on my head and was wandering in the streets with amnesia for a long time...
Tsutomu: Because I got reunited with you, my memories finally returned and it seems like i'll be able to come back to the MI6 in one year...
Tsutomu: That aside, did you come to London with our sons?
    Mary: No... With our daughter...
    Tsutomu: Our daughter?
Mary: Oh... you still forgot about the daughter you held up in your own arms...
Tsutomu: Aah... That kid... Did she grow up?
    Tsutomu: What's the matter, Mary?
    Tsutomu: Why are you crying...

    Page 16:
Mary: When I parted with Tsutomu-san, my daughter was still in my womb...
    Mary: Who are you!?
    Vermouth: Right...
Vermouth: I am not Akai Tsutomu...
Vermouth: I am a woman who will now...
Vermouth: Poison you with this drug...

Side text: London, Vauxhall bridge... This is a confrontation yet untold.

No break next week—we can expect 1,049 spoilers this time next week.

Shōnen Sunday Preview, courtesy of Holmes:

    Spoiler

"On the cover, there are Conan, Sera and Mary.
Something unusual happens at a party to which Conan, Ran, Sonoko and Sera have been invited."

    Summary, courtesy of Baka:

    Spoiler

"Mid-way through the meal, a dead body at the next table
    Conan & Sera turn around
Afterwards, there's really a shot/scene of Mary just like on the cover, making tea while on the phone with Sera
there's news: looks like she's digging further into the truth about Conan this chapter."

No break next week—we can expect 1,048 spoiler info around this time next week.

    UPDATE:

    Additional details, courtesy of Baka:

    Spoiler

"Conan has an irritated throat and can't properly speak. When he was about to take a pill for the irritation, he realized he was reusing the case he carried the antidote with. Looking at Conan and seeing the contents of the case, Sera asks him, “What’s that blue-white pill?“
On the phone, later, Mary tells Masumi that someone made her swallow a capsule, taking advantage of her lowered guard—she seems to have been attacked at Vauxhall Bridge in London (which is the bridge that directly leads away from MI6 HQ)—she describes the capsule as red and white. Thus, she says Conan's is different from the one she was forced to swallow. She describes the attacker with a generic word, "yatsu," which can mean either gender."

    UPDATE (#2):

    More details, courtesy of Baka.

    Spoiler

"Conan isn't at home because Kogoro is at a meeting with the neighborhood association, and Ran says she didn't want to leave him alone.
Sera has a feeling that Conan's lacking in vitality today—Ran said that Conan ate some very strong spicy stuff, so he has stomatitis and can't properly speak. She reminds him to take his medicine. When he was gonna take pill for that, he reminds himself/confirms that he didn't use one of the pills he got during the school trip—he's been saving it secretly.
Mary is telling Sera to, if possible, steal the antidote.
There's a terrifying phrase on the victim's forehead: 'Punishment from Heaven'".

    The 'world' springs into action
The biggest sports event in the world is held in Japan!
An international incident happens in the capital, Tokyo, the focus of all attention!
A dangerous family that pierces the world falls into place in the magliner of 1000 km/h!
    And is finally reunited!"

  9. 1,046 spoiler pics are now out. Translations are pending.

    Spoiler

The culprit is Kōsuke Hishinuma. He is tranquilized by Shinichi/Conan.

Shinichi/Conan, Shūichi and Shūkichi then have a conversation about the case, as well as mentioning Mary and Yumi. The case ends with a BO tease on the last panel.

Detective Conan will return with File 1,047 in Shōnen Sunday #13, which will release on the week of February 24th, so we can expect 1,047 spoilers around February 21st, at the earliest. In other words, starting next week, we will have a 9 week break.

  10. Apologies for the quadruple post.

1,045 text spoilers are now out, translation courtesy of 2leaves:

    Spoiler

"There is a lot to see in this file"

Yusaku, Yukiko and Akai show up—the three of them are together at the Kudō mansion. Akai is himself—not Subaru—and not wearing the knit cap, either. Akai only has his hat off when he is in the house—when he goes out to meet Conan, he puts his hat and sunglasses on.
The culprit kidnapped Shūkichi—Akai meets up with Conan and they go rescue Shūkichi together. It seems that Shūkichi manages to call his brother from behind his back when he is tied to a table.

    UPDATE:

Here are some spoiler panels from 1,045:

    https://tieba.baidu.com/p/6382834623?pn=3

    UPDATE (#2):

And here are some more text spoilers, translation courtesy of Spimer:

    Spoiler

At the start of the file, Conan is trying to solve a mystery by Yusaku but Genta playing gacha is hampering him

Yumi calls Conan; It'd seem that Chiba and Naeko had a fight (not serious) about adding stew to the rice, but when Yumi spots them, she tells them "you get along." Yumi tells Conan that Shūkichi didn't come back yesterday.
Conan calls Shūichi, who happens to be in the Kudo house, without his disguise; the Kudos are also there
They're short of time so Shūichi doesn't disguise (he does put on sunglasses and other stuff) and Conan goes to help Shūkichi
Shūichi calls Shūkichi through an exclusive phone; Shūkichi had secretly put the phone in call mode; he had suggested to the culprit that they play a blind game of shogi.

Magazine break next week—we can expect 1,046 spoilers late next week at the earliest.

    UPDATE (#3):

Here are even further text spoilers, courtesy of Manaphy:

    Spoiler

Conan recaps the events of the case in the 5 first pages, and also thinks about possible tricks by the suspects:
    - He thinks about Shoko possibly buying a cooler box to keep the ice cream, but recalls the 3 suspects were lightly dressed/equipped, and because she didn't have the key, she couldn't have come earlier and put a cooler box inside the room.
    - The fact Mina couldn't get the curry pan bugs him, but he says she couldn't warm the bread because there was no electricity.
    - He mentions Kōsuke using lukewarm water to do instant coffee, but, again, since there was no power, he couldn't have warmed any water.

Genta is upset because two days ago at a capsule machine he got a Yaiba capsule labeled #1, then the next day another capsule labeled #2, so he thought there would be a #3 today, but, instead he got a #1 again. Mitsuhiko says, "things don't always proceed according to order in this world." Conan sees this as a big hint about the case (it's speculated that this is linked to the shogi board missing legs, and that the actual order of the murders is not as it first appears).

Shūkichi got tased when entering the culprit's room. He wakes up to find himself tied up, and since his smartphone in his back pocket, he doesn't think he can reach it with his hands. The culprit seems to be anxiously waiting for a certain announcement from the police. Shukichi, thinking to himself, seems confident that he's destroyed the culprit's winning move.

Yusaku says he's "too free" so he wants to hear about the case. Yusaku confirms that the countdown of shogi board legs is a "fake," and that one of the kitchen items (toaster, mixer, and two icecube plates) was used to create the alibi. Conan remembers Genta hitting the capsule machine then understands the trick, as well.

Shūichi & Conan go to save Shūkichi. Shūichi uses an exclusive phone for this because "like a certain high school detective, I'm dead in the eyes of society right now."

    Spoiler

    -Shūkichi solves the serial murders
-Another death and a new board with only one leg
    -Next issue: solution

    UPDATE:

Here's a text summary of 1,044, translation courtesy of Spimer:

    Spoiler

Satō argues that the culprit of these murders must be the same because the info about the shogi board was only published a couple hours before Genda's murder, so, to her, it's simply too early for a copycat to have sprung into action.

The relationships between suspects and victims:
Nishikido (1st victim of the shogi murders) was friends with Genda (2nd victim), but none of the three suspects (Hishinuma, Shoko or Mina) had met Nishikido.

Genda was the one who did these training sessions, originally. There originally were 4 members of the practice group—Shūkichi had heard rumors of the group as being comprised of remarkably powerful players. The members were Nishikido, Genda, Yūhei Kishimoto (the one mentioned in the previous chapter that wouldn't be joining the group), who had recently became depressed, and Sanji Uriyū (brother of Shoko), who'd recently become a pro player.

Kishimoto's depression was likely related to Uriyū's unexplained, sudden suicide—Uriyū had been very high spirits and was having a winning streak, and they'd even anticipated and celebrated a rise in rank. Mina had been hanging out with him, at the time. Uriyū was also possibly part of the fixed game circle, since he apparently had been summoned by the shogi federation at some point shortly before his suicide.

Genda, finding himself suddenly alone after what happened to Nishikido, Uriyū and Kishimoto, asked Hishinuma to join him, and he invited Shoko and Mina.

When Conan points out that there might be more murders and Yumi scolds him, he responds, "But if it were Shinichi-niichan, I'm sure he'd say the same, wouldn't he?"

When Hishinuma tries to tell the police where Kishimoto's house is at, since he doesn't remember the exact address, they see smoke rising from it. Satō and Takagi rush there while ordering the suspects to go back to their respective homes and wait there, and not to go out on their own because they might be in the killer's list, too.

Yuminaga reports that they managed to prevent the house from burning down completely, but Kishimoto got burnt to a crisp. While at first glance, it looked like he was dead before the fire began because of a lack of vital reactions, his rectal temperature hadn't descended too much—it was possible he might've been alive until shortly before the fire began. Takagi asks if Kishimoto could have been killed after Genda, and Yuminaga replies that Megure told him about the shogi board found there—a board lacking 3 legs, this time. Yuminaga notices Conan, and Takagi admits he slipped into the patrol car without them noticing.

At night, Shūkichi rings at someone's door and apologizes for his sudden visit, while commenting, "so this is where you moved to", implying this person lived somewhere else before but moved to this place recently. He says he's come to suggest that they turn themselves in, since he's sure they're Genda's killer.

    No break next week!

And here's an official (text) teaser of File 1,045, translation courtesy of Spimer:

    Spoiler

"Meijin's fast checkmate! Who will be the great detective then! The shogi boards with cut off legs call for mysteries (shogi players serial murder case). All young shogi players suspects have alibis for the few minutes the crime took part in, but... will [Conan] be able to see through the truth?"

We should be able to expect 1,045 spoiler pics later this week.

No break next week—we can expect 1,044 spoilers this time next week.

    UPDATE:
Here's a summary of 1,043, courtesy of Sakaki:

    Spoiler

The kids are talking about soccer, and Conan's not amused because he wants to investigate the Haneda family. He's looking up the news on his smartphone and sees that there's been match fixing in shogi games and even worse a body found so the games have been suspended as investigations are ongoing and the police have no leads.
The only thing left with the body was a shogi table with one leg and he can't figure out what that means. Ayumi asks about what "fixing" means and there's a discussion about where the word came from. (Haibara thinks it's Sumo.) but then Chūkichi shows up and says it's from Igo (Or Go, like from Hikaru).
Chūkichi knew the guy who got killed, since he played him once and he used an unusual move. Ayumi figures out he's on a date with Yumi because he's not wearing his kimono and he's clean shaven. He says it's not a date, but he's off to meet someone important. He leaves and then a lady who's obviously not Yumi (it is Yumi) is obviously not stalking him. (she is.) Genta asks if they're fighting or something and she says they aren't, but he's been acting funny so she's trailing him. (As in he's been going out secretly more often.)
Yumi thinks she's just being overly worried but Haibara says it's likely he's cheating, lol.
She then doubles down on ~~stalking~~ trailing him and drags Conan in to help against his will. Conan asks her if she's ever met his parents, and she says no --but she's heard he lived with a rich family who had a son who was a shogi genius up until he died in an accident. (Kōji Haneda) Chūkichi inherited his dream to be the best at shogi and here we are.

Chūkichi goes to "star donuts" which is a place Yumi introduced him to so now she thinks he's shopping there for her....until he talks to some girls out front. She gets pissed and reveals herself (And I should add the girls refer to her as his girlfriend and she doesn't deny it.)
Turns out he's running a shogi practice group for these girls. One girl: Mina Katsumata is the daughter of the current shogi senior player Chikara Katsumata. The other girl is Shoko Uriyū. They both have interest in learning shogi from Chūkichi.
Another dude is there: Kōsuke Hishinuma and he has instant coffee which everyone agrees tastes nasty cause it's kinda lukewarm now.
They head in to meet the other person there Genda, and you guessed it, he be dead. Conan notices that the shogi table there only has two legs and wonders if this is connected to the case he read in the news.

    UPDATE (#2):

Here are translations of the spoiler pics:

    Spoiler

    Page 1

    File 1043 : The Meijin's beard.

    The long-awaited new series...

When speaking of shogi, that person appears as expected!

    Page 2

Genta: Ooooh! The game they were having during today...

Mitsuhiko: It's said in the news online that Japan won! Mitsuhiko: And it's said that even inside Samurai Blue, Double H greatly contributed!

    Ayumi: Awesome!

    Genta: They're so cool!

    Conan: What's Double H?

    Ayumi & Haibara: Eh?

    Mitsuhiko: You don't know?

    Genta: Seriously?

Haibara: Recently, both of Hide from the Tokyo Spirits and Higo from Big Osaka...

Haibara: Are being put together and called "Double H".

Conan: Heeeh, so that's how it was...

Side text: A new arc begins! Haibara-san is all smiles, isn't she.

    Mitsuhiko: Haibara-san is also a H, right!

    Haibara: Ufufu...

Conan (internal monologue): Well, rather than that, right now...

Conan (internal monologue): I must investigate Taikō Meijin's family, the Haneda family, but...

Conan (internal monologue): When I search for shogi right now...

Conan (internal monologue): I've almost only been bothered about that news...

    Page 3

Conan (internal monologue): "Suspected of match fixing and currently on the run, the case of Player Nishikido, who was found as a corpse...

Conan (internal monologue): No progress as of yet," huh...

Conan (internal monologue): Furthermore, the fact that one leg of a shogi board abandoned next to the corpse had been cut off...

Conan (internal monologue): Has been announced recently by the MPD...

Conan (internal monologue): Why only one leg of the shogi board?

Ayumi: Hey, what is that "patch fixing" thing?

Haibara: That's called "match fixing," and it's said when one does something like losing a match on purpose! You see, like the thing Edogawa-kun does in games in order to let you all have the credits!

Genta: Wait, that was on purpose?

Conan (internal monologue): No, I really lost at that...

Mitsuhiko: But I wonder, where did the word "match fixing" come?

    Haibara: Who knows... Sumo, maybe?

Conan: Shogi could unexpectedly be the origin of that...

    Shūkichi: Rather than shogi...

    Page 4

    Shūkichi: Go is the origin!

    Detective Boys: Taikō Meijin!

Shūkichi: Long ago, there was a greengrocer named Chōbee-san, who was called "Yaochō" by everyone...

TN: the japanese word "Yaochō" is made from the "Yao" on "Yaoya" (greengrocer) and the "Chō" from "Chōbee."

Shūkichi: Since he wanted his Igo friends to buy items from his shop, he was losing on purpose to put them in a good mood...

Shūkichi: But one day, Chōbee-san had a draw match with a strong go player named Honinbo Shūgen...

Shūkichi: And Chōbee-san's skills at Igo were exposed to everyone around him...

Shūkichi: Since then, when yourself or someone else loses on purpose in order to make profit...

Shūkichi: We've been referring to that as "match fixing!"

    Detective Boys: Heeeeh...

Conan: Tell me... Did you happen to have a match with that person who was found as a corpse, player Nishikido?

Shūkichi: Yes... Several times during events...

    Page 5

Shūkichi: He didn't give me any particular impression, but...

Shūkichi: There was only one time where the move he played after coming back from the restroom...

Shūkichi: Was unexpectedly brilliant, that it surprised me...

Shūkichi: Although, I somehow pulled through it and won...

    Conan: Hmmm...

    Ayumi: By the way...

Ayumi: Are you on a date with Yumi-san today?

    Shūkichi: Eeeeh!?

    Shūkichi: W-Why is that!?

Ayumi: Because when you don't wear your kimono, your beard is growing...

Ayumi: Yet you shaved it today!

Shūkichi: I-It's because I'm going to meet important persons...

    Shūkichi: It's not a date...

Genta: What, so it's not a date, huh...

    Page 6

Conan: What are you doing? Yumi-san...

    Yumi: W...

    Yumi: What, well...

    Yumi: I'm trailing him!

    Yumi: Chūkichi, I mean!

Mitsuhiko: Why are you doing that?

    Genta: Did you fight?

    Yumi: N-No...

Yumi: It's not like we had a fight, but...

Yumi: Recently, that Chūkichi's been acting weird...

Yumi: He's been dressing up and going out secretly a lot...

Yumi: And when I ask him where he goes, he's dodging the question...

Yumi: W-Well, now that we're living together, to see even the sides of him I don't have to see, or should I say...

Yumi: I think I'm just thinking too much about that...

    Haibara: This is all probably...

    Page 8

    Conan: Look here...

Conan: I think he's just simply buying donuts, you know?

    Yumi: Yeah...

Yumi: The problem is for whom he's buying them...

Conan: But it seems he's buying a lot of them, so...

Conan: Isn't he going to meet his friends and drink together or something?

Yumi: There's also the possibility of a gluttonous woman, right?

    Conan: T-That's true...

Conan: Anyway, did you meet Taikō Meijin's parents?

    Yumi: No, not yet but...

Yumi: I did hear about the fact that he entered the family of a very rich person as a son-in-law around the time he aimed to be a pro-player...

Yumi: The son of that family was a genius at shogi, but he died in an accident...

Yumi: They apparently asked him whether he could become their son-in-law and fulfill the dream of that son...

    Page 16

    Hishinuma: Ge...

    Hishinuma: Genda-san!?

    Hishinuma: No way...

    Hishinuma: Are you alright!? Genda-san!

Uriyū: Wait, that's a joke, right!?

Conan: No can do... He's not breathing...

    Conan: Strangling, huh...

    Conan: !?

Conan: A shogi board with two legs cut off!?

Conan: Oi, oi, don't tell me this is...

Side text: What is the meaning of the thing left at the scene!? Next issue, he appears in the cover! Furthermore, the poster's first publication...!!

    UPDATE (#3):

And here's some additional translations, courtesy of Spimer:

    Spoiler

"Conan reflects that Kōji was indeed the scion of a wealthy family, and that Taikō Meijin (Shūkichi) joined them to inherit Kōji's dream. Yumi then adds that the biggest reason Shūkichi did so is because he fell in love with shogi. He then asks if she's met his true family. She replies that she hasn't, either, but knows there's a mother, a sister and a big brother. She then says that she suspects they must look like Shūkichi and must be pretty carefree, which leads to Conan thinking that there's no "'carefree' members in the family."
The star donuts was a store Yumi saw in a magazine and she suggested him to go try it out, hence why he's bought the stuff there.
Also, Chikara Katsumata was originally going to come see the students' training but he's busy with his own students so he couldn't come.

The two women are actually rivals on their "career" to become pro players. The guy they met with is a fan of Shūkichi. They spend a while talking about how the coffee he bought lacks taste, and one of the women presumes how the bread she bought is hot and recently made.

Interesting options. Although I would personally cross off Kiyonaga, since he was kind of written off the series as his VA died, and Kuroda became the convinient replacement. Not sure if Sakurako & Hina are "hypeworthy" characters for the editors, but the FBI are a pretty good guess (although James seems like the least "hypeworthy" of the bunch, seeing as his relevance/appearance in the series overall has been pretty minimal).

    Spoiler

Which is funny, considering his most distinguishing feature is a facial scar crossing the eye area. Who knows, though? Nakamori now has a different voice actor, as well as James. As Senior Superintendent, with a different VA, it's possible for him to appear again.

Sure, it's reasonable a majority would look forward to seeing Jodie, Andre and James more than Sakurako and Hina—and that a majority would look forward to seeing Jodie and Andre more than James.

In spite of his increased tendency to tandem with Rei, the FBI has been by his side for quite some time. Perhaps he reaches out to them to help out with his investigation into the Haneda family.

    Spoiler

Yes, and not just in that sense, but also that "Highball", his potential current codename, could by technicality also be considered as Rum (only that it has coke as ingredient as well). Basically, "Rum" is indeed amongst the trio, but not the second-in-command Rum.

    Spoiler

Not necessarily a bitter one, but at the very least an underestimating (of Rum) one.

Perhaps he preferred that Gin took the mantel instead, if Wakita's current mission/actions that aligns with Gin's interest (and if the "demon in the dark" idiom, which Gin & Wakita's potential drugging target quoted, originates from Wakita) is any indication of a mentor-student relationship (since Wakita design is inspired by a mentor character).

    Spoiler

If the dying message is indeed implicating Muga as according to my theory, then that would be the natural assumption.

    Gotcha.

Essentially, I'm captivated by the uncertainty before me, right now. Regardless of what I consider to be the most probable or likely, I could see the Rum arc potentially going in completely separate directions—I'm not absolutely certain of Gosho's true answer. In the end, I'd be down for Muga or the other three turning out to be Rum.

At the same time, I'm eager to have an answer—to see where Gosho intends to go with this.

    2 hours ago, Shinan-Kudogawa said:

The possibility exists, the fact is, according to Gosho. Rum is within the three (Kuroda, Kanenori & Rumi), so what remains to conclude, is whether the Rum he is speaking of is a 'face' of a three ways Rum, or like you & MeiTanteixX discuss, that Rum is a former Rum, and a new Rum is in current position.

I'd say the latter possibility is more likely, but, yes—I now concur that Gosho could have been misleading with the answer to that question, and thus, Muga could still be Rum.

I totally forgot  about the SDB, that according to Gosho Rum is one of the three. I know I am suiting theories, however, the theory that one of the three is another 'third' face of Rum is plausible, like Amuro and Kir, Rum plays the role of three people, his usual Rum, the Muga (though we are stretching the idea), and another third face.  If Rum, inside the BO, is a 'face', Rum being a butler Muga is another 'face', and a third possibilty is another 'Face', it could match the three theories of 3 personnas. If the butler is the feminine trait, and the Rum' is the old trait, the strong trait is the one left, which could be attributed to any of the three suspects, Hyouei, Rumi and Wakita. Going along with the answer Gosho made about one of the three is Rum. while also Muga and another personna are Rum all together...

So you're claiming Muga and one of those three (Hyōe, Rumi or Kanenori) are actually the same person?

    9 hours ago, MeiTanteixX said:

I actually have a theory which fits with his seemingly confirming reply to SDB BLACK+ Q92 “Is Rum certainly amongst the trio Kuroda, Wakasa & Wakita?”.

I don’t actually think it’s as straightforward as he made it seem.

I think that his reply stems from the fact that...

    "Wakita Kanenori = Highball" Theory

      Reveal hidden contents

Wakita Kanenori is the former “Rum” in the BO, and his current codename is actually the same as the drink that was referenced in his introduction, “Highball” (File 975).

    Screenshot_20190611-114905_Chrome.jpg

Highball is a cocktail drink that is a mix of a liquor and non-alchoholic drink, and a common one among them is “Rum + Coke”.

    Screenshot_20190611-113314_Chrome.jpg

These two drinks were also referenced in his intro (as “pirate’s spirit” & “Cola”).

    Screenshot_20190611-114741_Chrome.jpg

    Screenshot_20190611-114831_Chrome.jpg

I think that after passing on the second-in-command title, he was given this cocktail codename as a symbol of that he is not the same Rum anymore (the same concentration of Rum in the drink basically).

In other words, from my perspective, Gosho is pulling another misleading comment like he did with Animal Crossing for File 906 (where "Rum" he is thinking of is not the same as the one you would originally think), where he had said “Rum has actually already appeared (laughs)” (which was actually referring to Lum).

    Spoiler

Ah, that's right... there was a question also asked in SDB Black Plus about if codenames can be inherited... okay, by those terms, yes—he didn't specify whether the Rum he was referring to was currently Rum or formerly Rum, so I guess that's how he could be shifty, there.

So Kanenori's just the bitter former second in command, and Muga is the man who passed him up?

Then why was Muga at Juke Hotel 17 years ago instead of Kanenori? Had he already been forced to step aside for Muga, by then? In other words, has Kanenori had the codename "Highball" since 17 years ago, or even before that?

  19. 20 hours ago, Shinan-Kudogawa said:

Hey all, my latest theory regarding the whole Rum arc. Is that most likely Hyoue & Rumi are not Rum, I cannot say I have conclusive evidence, however the mere fact that they met during the camping incident, and Rumi's confrontation with the culprit, made me feel uneasy about how Kuroda reacted. If one was Rum, the other knew, if the other person did not know, it is most likely that Rum (or them) was not in the Haneda's scene, because their level of intelligence  (that may surpass Conan's) would lead them to figure the identity of Rum at the crime scene. Rumi (If she is Rum), would know Kuroda's purpose is to spy on her, and therefore would take actions to escape any chance that would lead to her identity. Kuroda (if he is Rum) would not confront Rumi, who is related to Haneda's mystery, without jeopradizing her suspisiousness towards him. If Kurodoa is Rum he would rather avoid Rumi, who might deduce who he is. If both did not know the other, I doubt Rumi would show off her skills in front of Kuroda (to her he might be Rum). Kuroda would not confront Rumi (who to him might be Rum), on the ground that he is watching over, and keeping her in a school where young lives at stake. On this basis, Rum is neither for most chances, unless proven otherwise.

Kanenori, is a great candidate. But for a second in hand to command a large syndicate as big as BO, and the desire to remain unknown, would suggest he would rather attract less attention to himself, even if he tries to hide in plain sight. And his wholesome intention to become a disciple of a famous detective (Kogoro), would inspire others to look into him, such as Conan, and his quirky look, would raise questions, specially if Rum, who most likely knows about the descriptions people say about him, would mind fitting the image or a characteristic in a way or another in public. Rum would most likely, appear in the three different ways he is described, only inside the BO, while in public he would/should change his appearance to avoid any traces of him. If he have a damaged eye, he'd rather hide it or damage both eyes, if he seems feminine, he'd rather appear ambiguous looking, the same goes for a strong man.

Rum, most likely, has not appeared in whole appearance to the people who described him. The BO agents, described his characteristics, based on his approach, which would raise the question of the eye problem. If all agreed, that Rum have an eye that is prosthetic or damaged, it must mean that they saw him. Yet, it might be a way of Rum to throw off descriptions of him by giving different traits, with one similar characteristic, so when he is investigated, it would mislead the investigators in something that did not exist. Again, the descriptions, have transferred to Haibara who relayed them to Conan, (Who btw, didn't even bother telling Conan Anokata's phone number, even though she was not surprised to know he figured it out), in accordance with her intentions to mislead Conan  away from the BO so he would not be a matter of concern. Rum's awareness, like Gin about Sherry's escape from the BO, and that she must have had help, before her assumed death, would mean she told someone info on the BO, and Rum's different descriptions would've made their way into a stranger.

Iori Muga, to me personally, is most suspicious. Like said above by MeiTanteixXhis concern over time, would relate logicaly to Rum. He has no worries about people finding out his time calculations, and he should not. Since only the people he told that time is precious, should be matter of concern to him, like Amuro, however he considers Amuro a top ranking BO agent. And following the theory of MeiTanteixXabout G & UMA, which I find to be very possible. I would not be surprised if Muga turns out to be Rum,.

Another thing to consider, that Kuroda is not Rum, is the fact that he is Rei's superior. While he may still be a suspect, he would know about the agents awaiting at Kudo's residence during the Scarlet Arc. Thus, he would question the whole Akai's conversation with Rei over the phone, and the PSB that chased him, would lead to the BO's figuring out his whole fake death incident, if he is Rum.

Kanenori, if Rum, would be a compromise of concealment, to be known to Kogoro, Amuro and others, as a disciple to Kogoro, with the looks he has, and the possible chance some would know of his descriptions following Haibara's escape from BO, even before her assumed death.

Rumi, while as mysterious as she is, would not throw her mysterious character to be a matter of study and observation to others, if she is Rum, not to Kuroda who is in police, nor to Conan, whose skills of deduction, she know of. I cannot imagine a scenario where the 2nd in command, would not mind be around someone who can investigate him, unless he wants to.

Rum, is in rush. As evident by his message to Amuro "Time is Money", mostly the general concept is that Rum's current objective is to find out any spies within the BO,  while staying hidden. He/She, is currently active, while maintaining the order of BO. means he/she must balance between the two. As to why he is in hurry, it may be due to; 1. following a lead to find something out before it becomes apparent or escape. 2. To rush others to fall victims of time and therefore revealing their true allegiance, 3. to actually win something over in the least time possible.

Since time is of the essence to Rum, I've been wondering if it has anything to do with Anokata himself. Since Anokata(Karasuma), is related to the whole time concept, raising the dead, over half a century of existence. I wonder if something is up that may actually be the reason why Rum is in a rush. Which would lead back to the Muga's obssession with time and seconds, and his attempt to calculate time to the second for fullest time employment. ..

Honestly, the twist that the butler of a romance subplot character is Rum actually looks pretty valid to me.

The only issue is that, in Super Digest Book Black Plus, Gosho said that Rum was either Hyōe, Rumi or Kanenori—and only one of those three—his answer to that specific question didn't leave room for him to give an evasive answer and leave open the possibility of a fourth suspect. If it turns out there is a fourth suspect, and that suspect is Rum, then Gosho didn't just mislead, evade, or misdirect with this answer—he straight-up lied. And I don't recall Gosho straight-up lying when it comes to questions regarding the unrevealed big mysteries of the series. I don't recall him ever declaring, be it in Let's Talk Days or SDBs or interviews—before the reveals—that Vermouth wasn't disguised as Dr. Ariade, or that Hidemi Hondō and Rena Mizunashi weren't the same person, or that Scar Akai was Bourbon, or that Bourbon was Tōru Amuro. So I don't think he'd lie about Rum only being either Hyōe, Rumi or Kanenori.

In spite of this, I can't deny the possibility that Kanenori is actually Tsutomu Akai—if there was evidence proving he couldn't be Papa Akai, though, then I'd easily name him as my top suspect, even above Muga.

For me, the possibility that Kanenori = Papa Akai and Gosho's answer to that SDB Black+ question are my biggest points of contention—if it turns out that there are only 3 Rum suspects, and Kanenori turns out to be Tsutomu, then Rum must be Hyōe or Rumi (I don't honestly think that Rum is Tsutomu—Gosho subverting Shūichi's Gundam-inspired backstory and make his dad the second biggest of the bads, instead of really dead and/or a heroic figure, is quite a longshot).

If it ends up that only Hyōe or Rumi can be Rum, then one of them has been playing the long game and biding time, in spite of knowing info that could be devastating to Team Conan if they simply acted on it—Rum waiting to spring a trap on Team Conan and the NOCs despite knowing such important info to his goal seems to go against his impatience.

From here, we have to consider the Vermouth = Rumi possibility. If that's true, and Tsutomu is Kanenori (and not Rum), then Hyōe must be Rum (assuming there is no fourth suspect, of course). I want to say that Hyōe's knowledge precludes him from the suspect list completely, but I just don't know if he's biding his time or not.

So, at this time, my ranking of the suspects, in terms of how likely it is that they'll turn out to be Rum, goes like this:

    Most likely: Kanenori and/or Muga

    Second-most likely: Rumi

    Least likely: Hyōe

Hyoue's impatience portrayal while talking to Yamato is certainly incriminating, but then again, that's a part of a package of obvious Rum portrayal, and we certainly haven't seen that side more than once.

He was eager to talk to Taka'aki—after that conversation, Taka'aki thought of Rum's signature phrase. If Hyōe is just Rei's/Tōru's NPA boss, then he may be looking to loop in the older Morofushi on the plan Team Conan's proposed to Rei/Tōru (the plan that still hasn't been revealed—just like the plan they came up with during the Vermouth arc climax).

Apart from that, he did go out of his way to approach Rumi—Rumi's probably related to any purely personal motives he may have—yet he didn't intervene while the Kyōto case aftermath was going down, like Kanenori (and to a lesser extent, Rumi) did. He even ordered Rei/Tōru to help Shinichi/Conan out with a case.

Out of the 3 suspects and Muga, I'd be most surprised if Hyōe turned out to be Rum, honestly.

Yeah, I noticed that, too, while reading 1,040—especially the bit where he actually counted the minutes and seconds.

And what's your opinion on the impatience and time sensitivity of Hyōe, Rumi and Kanenori, by comparison?

I don't remember seeing this explained but... what's "Happa"?  Why is Kazuha called that? Since I don't watch the movies, if it's something from the movie context, I don't get it :(

It is, indeed, movie context—from Movie 21, specifically (though if you're fluent in Japanese, you likely won't need to watch Movie 21 to get why Momiji calls Kazuha that).

    UPDATE (8/30):

A (very blurry) spoiler pic from 1,042 is now out.

    Spoiler

It's the last page of the file—it shows Heiji referring to Shūkichi, leading to Shinichi/Conan thinking about the Akai family and the Kōji Haneda case from 17 years ago.

    UPDATE (9/1):

Courtesy of Manaphy's translation, here are the 1,042 text spoilers:

    Spoiler

    File 1042. The fifth brother

Conan suddenly requests an eyesight test from the three brothers using his smartphone. Only the fourth brother gets it wrong.

Conan points at the fourth brother and says "The culprit is you".

The fourth son's current glasses are actually the eldest son's, that's why the correction doesn't match.

Conan pressures the fourth son by asking whether his glasses were broken during a scuffle.

The fourth son argues that they could be the eldest son's glasses from the very beginning, or that he might not have worn any glasses at all.

"All four brothers have metal allergy.

The eldest son's became more serious along the years.

He couldn't even stand the choconuts which contain nickel, nor leather products manufactured with metal, nor even cans.

The real brother wouldn't wear a metal frame. That's why the eldest son shouldn't be wearing it.

When the second son came at once, he exchanged them with the eldest son's.

The eldest son normally doesn't wear glasses, but when he called and kill ed him, he showed him something in order to distract him.

That's why the eldest son was wearing glasses", explained Conan.

However, the fourth man argues and asks how does he know that the others have metal allergy ?

As the brothers take the glasses worn by the eldest son and wear them one by one, the second and third sons turn red before everyone.

The fourth son does not turn red.

Conan says "The first thing I found strange was what you said about the lamb meat.

What was strange was that you four brothers were poor, yet you didn't talk about mutton, but about high-grade lamb.

Also, the scars of the wound on your palm can't be the same scar on the fourth son's small hands who was 6 years old at that time, compared to the second son or third son.

In addition, it's ordinary for a Genghis Khan pot to steam.

Even though you finished eating, it's not 'piping hot'.*

This is a Keloid caused by metal allergy.

The 'Long and heavy'* the third son mentioned also is a symptom of metal allergy."

    * Both those lines are said in 1041.

The fourth son gives up there.

The crime motive was that he was worried about money due to gambling, however he picked up by chance the eldest son's smartphone and saw "treasure" written on it, so he came up with a plan to pretend to be the eldest son and get the treasure.

He pretended to be the eldest son and e-mailed the other brothers.

However he realized the first man who came was the eldest son.

In front of the true eldest son, he pretended to be the fourth son, but when he saw the scar on the palm, he got exposed as an impostor.

He didn't intend to kill him, but when he was questioned and tried to escape, they scuffled with each other and the eldest brother fell down.

Afterwards, the real fourth son arrives late.

The fake fourth son is arrested and taken.

Momiji rejoices that Hattori has lost.

But Iori says "One mystery remains.

What is the thing left by the master ?"

    Hattori replies "That's you, ain't it ?

    Iori, ya're 30 years old.

Ya were in the housekeeper's belly when they were adopted.

My first uncomfortable feeling was when ya had had ready a means of transportation to the port.

Ya, as a brother, knew about the code too, right ?

Also, yar eyebrows are the same as theirs.

The thing ya received from the master was that ya were raised by the master's money. "

    Iori says "Well done.".

He explains "My playful mother introduced me because she was so eager to notify about her youngest child.

    The outcome is a draw."

Kazuha is depressed she missed her chance.

The same way, Hattori is depressed he missed his chance.

    Spoiler

the treasure is the Genghis Khan grill found in the scene
Because the mother wanted them to remember when the brothers are it together
Also, the culprit is not a random someone but was buds with one of the brothers, part of a college music band
    Apparently they look alike physically
As for his burn, seems to be because of some oil he used instead of sunscreen and thus got sunburn.
About Haneda, Heiji says it's not publicly known but the housekeeper worked for his family. Conan then learns Kouji was a Scion from a rich family

Will update again once the 1,042 spoiler pics come out and settle this confusion.
