Something that popped into my head, that would be really fascinating and, honestly funny as all hell, to see happen. What if the situation with APTX 4869 got out of control? I mean a lot of people were affected...
Would it make it easier for Shinichi to tell Ran? Would a cure be found sooner? How would everyone deal with it? Could it be covered up?
So much to wonder...

No, I can honestly see her punching/kicking him. But the real question is...Which one would she do first, kiss or hit? Both seem plausible, and I can imagine there would be a lot of crying and yelling on her part, with Shinichi trying his hardest to calm her down.

It's a little sad to see it at only 4 pages, considering it does appear to be THE Shinichi/Conan x Ran thread. *Shakes head* Tsk tsk tsk. I'm quite disappointed in that. But, I'd love to get this thread up and running again with pics, videos, and conversation! Erm...If it's alright...

Last, I believe one of my favorite ways for Ran and Shinichi to completely confess to each other is if they're in a situation where Shinichi cannot, in any manner, get out of it. For instance when he was transforming back into Conan and Ran refused to let go of his sleeve. It'd be a situation like that, either changing into Conan or from Conan, and Ran is holding him, clutching him, and watching it happen. Shinichi would try to explain himself, try to say something, but she'd just pull him close and their lips would lock. In the end, I don't think words will be needed between them, Shinichi and Ran are far past that.

@OTTD Player: Awwwww, I liked my conclusion...*Chuckles* If it were the other way around, I think Shinichi would go stock raving mad trying to clean up all the messes going on. Crime already seems to happen every day, all day, when it comes to him being around. Having people jumping about with AK's, as well as Niko Bellic....He'd probably either retire or end up sadly doing something stupid and getting shot.
I don't think the world of DC is ready for GTA IV...

@Ren-kun: But then, would Kogoro be Shinichi's father? *Shudders at the thought* Though, I think if Eri was Shinichi's mother, she would of been far more strict on the boy. It was always in her nature, and where Ran got her incredible temper and resilience. I don't think she would of left Shinichi home alone to his own devices, and might not of been too keen on his wish to be a detective. She might of felt his potential could of been used instead as a lawyer. She might, if still having married Kogoro at one point, resent detectives and refuse Shinichi the chance to be one. Shinichi might of grown up leading a very strict, reigned in life.
As for Ran, with Yukiko as a mother, I can easily see her having grown up a more softer, even tempered lady. Most likely taking karate only as an outlet to help tone her body in preparation for the theatre. I think she might have a much better understanding of her feelings and how to express them.
@OTTD Player: How exciting! I certainly look forward to reading it once you put it up!
Now combining DC with GTA IV...Lol, my first thought was Shinichi kicking a guy out of a porsche, and jumping in with Ran in a glittering black dress, cut up to the thigh. I think it'd be about the Black Organization taking over, and Shinichi is that one man that can stop them, with his woman clasped to his arm of course. There would certainly be a lot of guns, and Shinichi sadly would be treated as a traitor by the cops, because the B.O. has heavy influence over the police.

Summary: Convinced he's somehow dreaming after being injured, Mitsuhiko spends the next 24 hours finding out what it's like to be ten years older...
~Greetings everyone! I'll begin by saying that this is a Mitsuhiko/Ai story. Just to let you all know. How deep it gets depends on what inspiration has to say. Other pairings may come about in later chapters, especially Shinichi-Conan/Ran. The first chapter here is the setup to the rest of the story. I apologize if it's a tad small.
I do not own the rights to the characters or Detective Conan. They, and DC itself, belong to the amazing Gosho Aoyama.
I hope you enjoy the fic, and please let me know your thoughts and comments~
Chapter 1: Falling Asleep
This should not be happening. 'But it is.' The pills should never have been out in the open. 'Yet they were.' Even with the painful truth right in front of her, Haibara could barely register in mind what she was witnessing. 'Don't look away.' Swallowing, she stood there and watched, fingers clutching at the end of her skirt. The sight was far too familiar for it to be anything else. The pain induced hiss breaking through clenched teeth as he struggled to keep the screams at bay, hands clutching, clawing at his chest, sweat dripping in rivers down burning skin, eyes squeezed shut as if to block out the sensations running through his body...
No, there was no denying what was happening. 'It was just a headache, and now he must feel like he's dying...' Slipper-ed feet carried her softly to him, and it was only then that he managed to weakly open one eye, watching as her hands reached out and pressed cool palms against his freckled cheeks.
"Mitsuhiko-kun..." She whispered, enveloping his attention on her to try and direct his mind from some of the pain. She used his name, letting the closeness between them be the distraction in words and in action. He blushed despite his situation and Haibara couldn't help but feel a smile twitch at her lips. She let it out, knowing that it would soothe him more than anything she had to say. His legs were shaking, buckling under him, and with just the slightest bit of force she was able to lead him down to his knees.
"H...Hai...bara...san?" The boy breathed out in questioning, choking on syllables as his entire body shuddered like the sudden beat of a heart. When she shushed him his mouth clamped shut, relieved to not speak as another jolt of pain wrenched through him. 'The final stage.' Haibara slipped her hands to his wrists, tugging on the navy sweater that was drenched in sweat. His small body went limp against hers as she carefully undressed him, but Ai could tell he was still conscious. It was a wonder the boy was able to stay awake as long as he had already. 'He was always rather persistent.'
"It's just a bad dream." She found herself saying out loud, speaking to herself just as much as to Mitsuhiko, seemingly trying to reassure the both of them.
'Stop denying it.'With a sigh Haibara wondered if he had even heard her now, having dropped to her own knees with his head resting against bare legs, feeling the heat of his cheek along her skin. The scientist part of her, that part that would never go away, could not help but study his figure in the midst of the changes, taking mental notes. From a research perspective this was something to be observed. A look of surprise crossed her face when Mitsuhiko turned just enough to stare into her eyes, smiling in that completely ridiculous manner of his. As if, despite what he was going through just now, Ai was so important that he couldn't help but look at her.
"It's...Not so b...ad." He managed to say softly, still grinning. "I a...lways...li...ke the dreams...that...have y...you in...th...em..." The words had been the last of the struggle, and when his eyelids closed after he had finished speaking, Haibara knew then that Mitsuhiko had finally passed out. It was a good thing too, now she could ignore the light blush that had crossed her face, angry at how easily he had gotten to her just then.
A glance at the clock on the wall confirmed the time of change, as well as how long it had taken, and her eyes lingered there, wondering what to do next. She had to...To what? Call someone? Like Dr. Agasa? Kudo? Finally lowering her gaze back down to the slumbering figure in her lap, the increased weight on her knees sending tingles of numbness through her legs, Ai bit her lip in contemplation. She certainly had to do something though. But in a moment, or two. It didn't hurt to sit for the time being, allowing him to relax after such an ordeal. 'It's nothing more than a dream, remember?.'
"That's right..." Haibara said to the slumbering teen laying atop her, brushing a hand through the wet bangs that clung to his forehead. "This is nothing more than a dream, so sleep well Mitsuhiko-kun, and I suppose if it makes you happy...Dream of me."

@TML: That is a very good thought, and something I wondered as well. There was so much dangerous potential, so many what ifs that could of happened then. I mean what if he did know Conan was Shinichi? What if he hadn't been killed? Gosh, everything could of changed right then and there if he had lived for but a few more minutes...
@OTTD Player: *Chuckles* Like the mafia even. An all out gang/turf war perhaps? I honestly have no idea what would happen, but I am certain it would contain a lot of action and be very exciting.

I thought, as I hadn't seen a thread depicting this yet, ((Though I have found some depicting certain concepts, just not a general discussion thread about them all)), that there should be an interesting place to discuss various alternative concepts or ideas that could of possibly happened in Detective Conan...To put it simply, a place to discuss all WHAT IF'S.
Feel free to think about anything that has always tugged at the back of your mind, made you wonder what could of happened or speak about some alternative plot that you might of thought of.
For instance, some thoughts that I've always wondered were...
What if Ran had been given the APTX 4869 instead?
What if a permanent antidote is never found for Conan/Shinichi?
What if Shinichi and Ran were opposite genders?
Thoughts like that. I look forward to seeing what people have to say^^

@Anime Girl 4 Eva: That's why it was so surprising, Kid must secretly be plotting something...Thank you though for your kind wishes, and peaceful? I find I agree with that, considering when one is truly a fan of pairings, especially canon pairings and OTP and whatnot, it leaves you feeling so wonderful inside that all there is, is peace. I don't want to argue, there is no need to, I just want to enjoy the pairings that are so dear to me. If you are ever in the desire to chat, feel free to send me a message^^

*Steps in with a broom and begins to sweep* This thread needs to be cleaned up...
It's so heart breaking to go through all the pages of this thread and find so much arguing over what was titled as an Ai x Mitsuhiko thread. I can completely understand someone's distaste for this pairing, in fact it's all about everyone's individual tastes in liking and disliking characters, as well as pairings, that make fanbases all the more unique and interesting. But what might have appeared to have begun as a thread meant for talking about the potential and encouragement of this pairing was left to gather the dirt of seriously uneeded arguing.
I mean no ill towards each person, but perhaps a thread meant for supporting this pairing should be created and maintained, instead of the back and forth defense of what each person likes as a pairing for Haibara. If a new thread is in need of creation, I'd be very delighted to see or make one.
As for now, I'm not for arguing anything with anyone about potential other pairings for Haibara in this Mitsuhiko/Ai thread, and I will go on to speak about the support of this pairing, as is needed here. *Takes a breath*

For starters, I find that the innocent nature in which Mitsuhiko develops his crush on Ai is very sweet, in a soft and young manner. It plays along with the young relationship behavior Gosho enjoys establishing for many of his characters, and pairings. In each pairing, someone falls for the other before it becomes mutual. In Shinichi's case, he was first to develop feelings for Ran. It does appear to be the boy most often. That's how it generally begins, with the spark of a crush, and then the time that comes along to kindle it.
Mitsuhiko is in no hurry to move forward, and Haibara is in no hurry to be moved. Whether she develops anything for him in return is up to Gosho, and the series itself, but I find it has great potential, and there is more than enough already to support these two. I will continue on my personal feelings for this pairing at another time, considering I'm already writing a wall of text...
On a slightly diverted note regarding this pairing...I'm currently working on a fanfic surrounding Mitsuhiko and Haibara, and I am looking forward to sharing it everyone. Please look out for the first chapter soon^^ Forget that previous information, chapter one is completed! You can read it either on Fanfiction.Net, or on this forum. Please let me know how you feel about it, if you would like to^^
I would like to say that I found it particularly amusing that in OVA 9, Shinichi would dream of Mitsuhiko's ((as it would appear)) ongoing crush on Haibara. I must also admit, Mitsuhiko is absolutely HANDSOME when he's older...

Thank you very much for the permission, I was just making sure it was appropriate to do so. I've yet to reach those specific episodes once again, as it's been years since I've watched most of Detective Conan...I'm currently on 235. Once I get to each episode I'll edit that part of the wiki.
