There never was a crime. Mr. Shinmei was all the time in an hotel, living his last days peacefully with his wife. The whole deal was his last mystery, and the mesages were his way too say goodbye to Kaori and everyone he knew. In fact, when he's found, Shinmei is already dead of natural cases, and Mrs. Shinmei explains everything to Kaori and the group.

Manga to anime changes

• While Ran and Kogoro are arguing over which shows to watch, Conan recalls Haibara reminding him that if he wants to get his body back, he needs to help Kogoro to become a real detective. Doing so will result in more leads to the Organization. In the anime, he reminds himself of the objective as Haibara doesn't show up until The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case, where as the manga version of Episode 116-117 follows it.
