Yorifusa Yamaguchi (山口 頼房 Yamaguchi Yorifusa?, 1960/1961 – April 11, 2020) is a Japanese anime technical director. He takes part in the production of Detective Conan anime, along with the production of Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba.

Biography

Yorifusa Yamaguchi graduated from Chuo University (中央大学) and was affiliated with Studio Hibari (スタジオ雲雀). After his graduation, he debuted in the 5th OVA of Urusei Yatsura (うる星やつら), which was released in 1988[1]. After that, Yamaguchi directed an OVA animation work titled Level C (LEVEL-C), responsible for its manga adaptation[2]; whereby he later gained experiences with respect to directing romantic-comedy animations and also comical children's animations.

In 2003, Yamaguchi directed an anime series called Mouse (MØUSE), and was apparently adapted based on a manga created by Satoru Akahori (赤堀 悟). Incidentally, when he served as director for a certain animation work, he usually hired Shigeru Chiba (千葉 繁) as the sound director, which enhances the comedy effect of his works.

He died on April 11, 2020 at the age of 59 from an intracranial hemorrhage caused by a heart attack[3]. Four months later since he passed away, the episode where he had done the direction Episode 978: The Case On the Opposite Shore was broadcast[Note 1].
