Biography
After graduating from the vocal music department of Osaka College of Music, Ooki started her career. Between 1978 and 1981, she was the vocalist for rock band Sirius, started by the guitarist and keyboardist Mr. Sirius (real name Kazuhiro Miyatake). She joined under her real name, and was friends with Miyatake during her high school years at Osaka Prefectural Sumiyoshi Senior High School. In 1981, she and Miyatake joined Kazuaki Nakajima's newly formed band Pageant. The band shortly disbanded, but having realized Ooki's talents, reformed the band in 1983. They released their first album, "Raden Gensō" (螺鈿幻想), in 1986. The next year, the band disbanded again, after Nakajima left.
Starting in 1990, she started her solo career and was featured as vocals in "Shin Glenn Miller Monogatari" (新グレン・ミラー物語) from Strawberry Dance Band. She would later collaborate for many anime series, performing vocals for ending themes and insert songs, including for Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba, in 1994. She released her first single the very next year, and her first mini-album in 1996. Starting from 2000, she would be involved in dubbing songs from western movies.
