Situation

Part 1

A famous magician hires Kogoro to keep watch on his staff members, as he believes one of them may be out to kill him. For his first act, he lies on a bed of spikes, and is slammed with another, which has Kogoro and Conan worried until he's revealed to be alive. The next trick does not go so well, and he ends up trapped in a water tank where the entrance has been sealed. By the time it's open and he's rescued, it's too late, and one of his workers is responsible.

In the water tank escape show, Fuyuki prepares to escape from the tank, but drowns after he fails to open the upper part of the cage.

Part 2

Conan fishes around for clues in hopes of finding the true culprit. After gaining info, he learns who's behind the trick, and exposes the true mastermind behind the death of the magician.

After the investigation, Conan tranquilizes Kogoro and declares Shingo Shoji to be the culprit and reveals that when the curtains were lifted, he got on top of the water tank and placed the pins in it again so Fuyuki would be unable to escape and also reveals he did not escape from above, he left from below by waiting behind the water tank and then escaped when the curtains got lifted again.

Then, he got back to his normal place that's why they did not see anything strange on the video. Shoji did not use a pin, instead it was a trick ring, he got the ring and put around in one of the hinges and then he got the other ring in the hole and then he closed it. The ring he used is the ring on his left hand and the ring easily detaches so that he can attach the two parts on their opposite sides and which can then be closed. After that he distracted the others by letting Kogoro do the first aid and he got his ring back before someone noticed it.

Shoji confesses and reveals he did it while watching Fuyuki, knowing that it is his last time showing off his magic which angers Kazuma who is stopped by Megure before he can attack Shoji. Megure then tells him that he has sullied the name of magic by turning something fun into crime.

Remastered version

A remastered version was aired on May 16, 2026 and May 23, 2026. During the TV broadcast of the 1st part, there is a running text reporting about the death of Wakana Yamazaki, who voiced Ran Mouri. She passed away on April 18, 2026, and was officially announced on May 15, 2026.
