Detective Conan and Australia

Hi all, just a query really.

I've noticed that Australia is mentioned quite frequently in the manga and anime, Conan seems to know a fair bit about the country too. I'm just wondering if this has some kind of relevance further down the track... without spoiling too much?

I recently just caught up on the anime and have started the manga recently

Volume 6; File 9  (chapter 69 or so) The culprit (a writer) mentions traveling around Australia and takes pictures of himself as he goes (also used pictures as an alibi)
