CarpetCrawler Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 I don't think gaming companies will realize DRM is destroying their own industry until it is too late.
ccrogers15 Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 I don't think gaming companies will realize DRM is destroying their own industry until it is too late. Look at EA right now. They are in panic, and they are losing lots of money right now as people are finding ways to return the game, and amazon and other stores have pulled it.
Maltavite Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Still, DRM making your game unprotected. Here's some proof: "The purpose of copy protection is not making the game uncrackable - it is impossible." -Starforce "Most DRM strategies are just dumb" -Valve I'll stick to Steam now...
Sundown Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 I'm still scratching my head as to why they make the game "Always-Online". Why? Still, DRM making your game unprotected. Here's some proof: I'll stick to Steam now... Ehh, Steam is a bit iffy on the DRM aspect, ala Ace Combat. Coupled with GFWL, I could not play multiplayer.

Ehh, Steam is a bit iffy on the DRM aspect, ala Ace Combat. Coupled with GFWL, I could not play multiplayer. Because making it always online will benefit EA in 3 ways: 1. They can make sure nobody who pirated it can play. 2. They can control who plays and for how long. 3. They can shut the server down when they announce the next game to force players to buy the new product. If the server goes down the game is useless as it requires them.
