I don't think gaming companies will realize DRM is destroying their own industry until it is too late.

Look at EA right now. They are in panic, and they are losing lots of money right now as people are finding ways to return the game, and amazon and other stores have pulled it.

Still, DRM making your game unprotected. Here's some proof:

"The purpose of copy protection is not making the game uncrackable - it is impossible." -Starforce

"Most DRM strategies are just dumb" -Valve

I'll stick to Steam now...

I'm still scratching my head as to why they make the game "Always-Online". Why?

Ehh, Steam is a bit iffy on the DRM aspect, ala Ace Combat. Coupled with GFWL, I could not play multiplayer.

Because making it always online will benefit EA in 3 ways:

1. They can make sure nobody who pirated it can play.

2. They can control who plays and for how long.

3. They can shut the server down when they announce the next game to force players to buy the new product.

If the server goes down the game is useless as it requires them.

If the game was MP only, it is yes.

GOG.com sell their games with no-DRM
