  1. Mao Zedong, according to my dad, used to do his homework in a market. :V Anyways, I'd be banned from this site if my parents found out.
  2. For me, okay is anywhere above 90. Good is 100%. I think my parents would have murdered me if they saw my Chinese exam...
  3. I usually argue with them in my head instead. I've been doing it since 2nd grade. And my dad still thinks I lack self-control on certain areas. :/ Oh well, I have self-control on certain parts of my life and lack it in others.
  4. Should be okay. Usually your school will provide them. Model United Nations. United Nations...but for students. You meet with delegates from different countries (you have to pay travel expenses) if you get in, give speeches, lectures, etc. You often need recommendation forms to get in.
  5. I'm used to it. After all, talking back will earn me a wonderful week without the computer and a longer session of lectures. Really, I'm surprised that my dad even noticed I don't talk back to him. EDIT: Anyways, let's get off the subject about lectures and grades. How are you all?
  6. You said your dad's Chinese? @Misaki-chan: I get lectured. Which usually involves a) my dad storming into my room and yelling at me; or my dad calling me out, sitting me down, and giving a (slightly) calmer discussion often involving my mom and lecturing me for at least 20 minutes. @Lia: For exams...I usually get Bs for Math and then score okay on the rest. My mom would never be satisfied unless I got a perfect score though. And the SATs... *winces* Good luck with that.
  7. Meh, it's just a so-so book. But the concept was good. I'e had enough at home for a lifetime.
  8. My dad would ban me from my computer for a week and keep my computer usage under strict surveillance for the next month. :/
  9. :V I rarely talk back to my dad and mom, it just makes things worse. Good Enough. Not a very hard book and below my reading level, but I like the idea. Yup. It was a wonderful lecture indeed.
  10. You'll be amazing! I know the MUN application forms -- just get letters from teachers who know you well and will provide positive feedback for you and take some time and effort in it. ...Speaking of which, I have an application to fill out, provided my parents are okay with the idea.
  11. If you knew my mom you wouldn't say so. :V
  12. Yes. Just one. Then my dad gave me a lecture recently about how my mom quit her job for us and how much they've sacrificed and how I'm likely to never get a job half as good as my mom's. How comforting.
  13. :/ I got a 98 on a test once. My dad's first question: "What happened to the other 2 percent?" No. Is that one good? Yup. She had one A-. One. @Lia: You should try more.
  14. My dad found out about all of it. I could literally feel the cold disappointment and anger he was emitting in my dream. Oddly enough, we were in our old house's storage room and he was holding a white powder of some sort. :/ That part seemed random to me.
  15. MUN = Good. Nice. Have you started reading it? XDXD He had plenty of chances in Colorado...and Thailand...and training...and track... :V
  16. Too late. :V I've been "a good kid" my entire life. @Misaki-chan: I know they mean well, but... *sighs* It's all about GPA and credits. They even took my mom's college report card and showed me how amazing her grades were back then.
  17. I was once there, and I am expected to continue to be there. My dad doesn't like second. :/
  18. I hate being good for that reason. :/ My parents always expect better. They take my grades from a few years back and wave it in my face, saying, "Look at your grades here! Think of your grades now! They've dropped a lot! It's not because the work is harder -- it's because you're not working enough!" @Misaki-chan: I just started. Though frankly I can't see how a girl would be attracted to a guy that quickly...
  19. Quite a bit ago.
  20. :V I didn't do anything to him or around him, he just felt the need to say it. :V
  21. Dull. Reading a book about a Korean girl who's spent her entire life trying to impress her parents. Being the best once and trying to maintain it is harder than never being the best and trying to get there, because you've set a standard for yourself and either you've got to go higher than it or keep at it. It's like a parent will praise a 6-year old child for doing something good, but expect it from an older, say, 12-year old child.
  22. 'Cept the only thing I have him for is the Writing Club. :V Which hasn't started. :V Twin!
  23. Hi Lia. I am not. I think she left...
  24. *eats* How are you?
