Being a swim coach was pretty uneventful.
I did start each lesson with:
"Hello, I'm Mark. I'm filling in for your usual swim coach, and I will make sure you have an absolutely horrible time. I will make you throw up. You will hate me. Now, go swim 5 laps."
Of course, the kids threw a few questions at me:
Q: How old are you?
A: I'm immortal. You haven't finished 5 laps yet.
Q: Do we have to swim 5 laps?
A: You don't. You get to swim 20. Get moving.
Q: Are you going to save me if I drown?
A: Just finish 5 laps already!
And there was this one kid, got on my nerves, and couldn't swim.
So, I told him:
"If you don't swim, if you don't stop joking around, I will make you do a hundred push-ups."
So, he quickened, and shut up. For about a minute. So, I told him:
"OK, out of the water. Give me a hundred push-ups."
He replied:
"What, you were serious?"
My response:
*stern look*
Pretty uneventful.
