Because your grade is a gauge to how much and how well you're learning. Different people have different speeds at which they take in new stuff. You don't want to go too slow for people who are fast, yet not too fast for people who are slow in taking in things. Good grades just shows that you are putting in some effort. They don't want you to lag behind in school, that's all Make sure you're ready to tackle new things

My teacher don't force me to study and stuff like that either do my father. they're happy as long as I get good grades I can do almost anything (nothing illegal though:P) That's why I go to school (I NEVER study at home)

We've got kid's in my school who just mug up everything in order to get good grades. They don't even try to learn and understand. That's disgusting. I mean, they by-heart MATH sums. :/
