  1. You mean the Akai family?

Yeah(if the fans speculations are right of course)

    You mean the Akai family?

My main point is that the Shiho's circumstances after the fall of the BO would not be helped by being an adult. All the big fish might be arrested or killed, but that doesn't mean all of the associates will be nabbed right away. Even if you had fantasy 100% police efficiency all the bad guys must first go through court. And while we are on the topic of crime, it's highly possible Shiho herself may be charged with crimes. She did create a killer drug and the police can't really overlook that. Worst case scenario she has the whole book thrown at her and she ends up in jail for decades, best case scenario she is offered amnesty in exchange for testimony, but she will most likely be forced into witness protection to protect her from her former BO colleagues getting favors from criminals outside of jail and angry members of the public. Either way, Shiho would be under the control of a prosecutor who cares more about getting the bad guys for the sake of his career and justice than properly protecting an ex-bad guy and her secrets. The likelihood of her having normal "real life" after all of this is very low because she will be in jail or in hiding from pissed off ex-BO.

If Shiho remains a child she would at least have the card up her sleeve of being practically unprosecutable, but still able to offer testimony while controlling when and where she is seen as Shiho by using temporary antidotes. It would reduce the risk to Agasa and the Detective Boys. It also lets her choose how to atone, rather than a prosecutor with different priorities. Perhaps later she might choose to take the antidote, but I fully expect DC to end without her taking it right away. There isn't a good reason for immediate reversion.

So that would be a way to avoid justice...which is not really something positive if you ask me.

I would rather see her facing all of what she has done...Maybe the FBI will find a way for her to not go to trial (if she works for them or something like that)

I just don't see the point of staying as Ai if she's not hiding from the BO anymore, for me that would be like Shiho Miyano never existed.Even if she had a sad life that doesn't mean she has to erase her real identity.

  2. Shiho doesn't exactly have a life as an adult. Everyone she loved is dead and most of the people who know her want her dead for defecting. As a child she actually has a real life with Agasa, whom she likes as a father figure and doesn't find boring because they have similar interests. Unlike Conan, she actually seems to like school because she never had a school life as a real child. Ai talked about the crushing loneliness of that once, eating alone while being rushed through grade levels and college. I doubt the Black Organization will crumble down neatly. If she returns to being an adult, she will likely have to go into hiding and leave Tokyo, or Japan altogether, to avoid the retribution of the Black Organization's partners. Traitors are hated most of all.

I don't see why people think Shinichi will stop visiting as an adult. He hung out with Agasa pretty frequently before he shrunk. Why would he revert to his arrogance after all the mental growing up as a fake child? Sure Shinichi will go to college/get a job eventually but Ai has plenty of time to work out what she wants.

And what if she found relatives, will she really want to stay as a child?

I mean after the BO is gone she could have a life an an adult. She was alone before but now she has friends and Agasa,so what's the point of hiding with a fake identity? It would be much more brave for her to get back to her real identity and use all that she learnt as Ai in her real life.At least she wouldn't have to lie anymore. And DC is all about truth...

Gosho said DC will have a happy ending, so I can't imagine that if the BO is not fully destroyed...

Really, what kind of advice it would give to little kids watching DC...if your life is sad then take another identity and erase your past

Personally I would be way more satisfyied if she took the antidote and try to use her knowledge to help people,as a way to take her responsibilities for the drug she made(she's still sad about the people who died because of it). For me it's better and more realistic than just enjoying a second childhood (that she already is enjoying)

  3.

This file was somewhat unexpected to me... I was hoping the Kouji name would lead to a follow up investigation right after, but Gosho has went off on a tangent lately... I'm quite excited for what may come out of this case, and nice to know we got some more information on the drug.

Nice to see Akai back in the picture as well, but the cooking thing still kind of baffles me. Seems like a silly excuse... well, whatever, that's something rather petty to complain about at this point. Case looks like it'll be off to a great start.

well don't forget Akai is still disguised as Okiya,in front of Haibara he can't really act as himself(and it seems like she's still suspicious of him)

But I agree he should change his excuse.

About the file I'm sad that Ai doesn't come to the crime scene with them, and that Camel is supposed to be her bodyguard...really Camel isn't the best choice considering how many times he ruined Akai's plans...

And I was expecting some Ai/Akai confrontation but I guess it's too soon...

  4. Looking at how Yukiko and Yusaku are fine with Shinichi being a child again, I imagine so could be Ai's lost relatives  :)

But it's not like I really want her to necessarily stay a child, I she doesn't it's ok anyway. It's probably because of my personal nostalgia of childhood and the lack of possibility of experiencing it again. But I don't know whether Ai wants to stay as a child or retun adult, Gosho hasn't said that yet I think.

Oh yeah I guess many people(including me) would love to have the chance to get back to their childhood days again, but only for a short moment...and that's what Ai experienced...

She had the chance to enjoy the life of a child, and once the BO is destroyed, she will be able to live the life of a free woman, and assume her responsibilities in order to feel better in her new life. That would really prove she's not hiding or lying anymore, which would be a change from her past life.

Anyway with Gosho we never know so wait and see...

  5. What if Haibara find lost relatives?there won't be any reason to stay as Haibara Ai...

Really I don't get people who want Ai to stay as a child and living in a lie, while she could easily build a new life with her real identity once the BO is destroyed...

and I agree with what Zerathus said...

  6. Center? Not really. Rei/Tooru and Shuichi/Subaru, as well as Masumi, were the focus characters of the arc.

She's gotten three chances to interact with Jodie (Black Impact, A Fake Patient, Foreign Talent Suspect, Teito Bank Heist and A Shrine to Remember) since she rejected the witness protection program. During those two meetings, Jodie and Shinichi/Conan were focused on what was going on. In Black Impact, she didn't get a moment alone with Shiho/Ai—they were in the car together after Jodie showed up, and that was it, after Jodie and Shinichi/Conan ran to stop the assassination. In A Fake Patient, Jodie was there to talk with Shinichi/Conan—she seemed to barely acknowledge her, while she was at Agasa's house, giving them the info about Ethan Hondo. In Foreign Talent Suspect, Andre was the main focus of attention. In Teito Bank Heist, Jodie was distracted by Scar Akai. In a Shrine to Remember, she leaves Shinichi/Conan and Jodie alone, and doesn't really approach her—or vice versa—including the murder investigation.

So, no—they haven't gotten the chance. Considering how long Gosho puts things on the back burner, nowadays, it wouldn't surprise me.

If there are apologies to be made, Andre and Shuichi will be giving them.

Well the Bourbon arc started because Bourbon was supposedly looking for Sherry, then Okiya,Sera and Amuro appared, each of them were interested on Ai,until we get the Mystery train case, that lead to Sherry's fake death...Soooo yeah I think she was at the center of this arc, even if she didn't act herself that much(but she tried to take off Okiya's scarf, and was the first one to make the link between Okiya and Akai),and the other characters were looking for her for different reasons(btw we still don't know why Sera was interested on Ai).

it was kinda the same thing during the Vermouth Arc,the difference was that in the Bourbon arc Conan didn't tell her anything about the danger, while during the Vermouth arc she knew someone was hunting her(which is why she was more active)

The FBI know where she lives and if they really knew the truth, they would have talked to her, even if they are focused on something else,Gosho could have made a small moment between Jodie and Ai exchanging words,it wouldn't have taken many pages. The fact that they are focused on another topic doesn't mean they can't talk together (for example there was the small discussion between Camel and Jodie talking about Camel's mistake that lead to Akemi's death,or when Akai's past is revealed to Conan while there are focused on Rena)...just a few bubbles is enough to put things in place...

There were many occasions to talk to her,and Gosho could have created many other occasions(considering that the FBI know where Ai lives, and can contact her anytime ),but he didn't.

You're talking about Akai and Camel who should apologize, but this is the responsibility of the whole FBI(including James who is their boss) I think Ai should have official apologies from them.Camel and Akai were not working alone, but for the FBI, so any action they make involves the FBI and their image.

btw Camel never asked to meet Ai,he never talked to her, which confirm he doesn't know who she is...remember he really felt guilty about Akemi's death so I guess he would try to apologize to her sister...

Anyway until you find me a  good proof that the FBI knows Ai's real identity,I will stick with the idea that they don't.Remember we recently learnt that Conan didn't know Sera was Akai's sister, while he should have known for a long time,so for me as long as it's not explicitly written in the manga, then it's just a theory...

  7. I was saying they (I'm talking about Jodie and James, specifically—I think just them knowing wouldn't endanger anything... in spite of how dumbed down the FBI have been, they've been able to keep Kir's true allegiance secret... even when Shuichi and Shinichi/Conan announced their plan and the fact that Kir was CIA to a whole room of FBI agents when they could've just told Jodie and James... they actually made it more likely that the secret could slip out) should've figured out that Shinichi is Conan, at this point. However, with the dumbing down of every FBI character except Shuichi from the end of the Vermouth arc, I suppose them not figuring out his identity was a continuation of this dumbing down.

As for Shiho/Ai... until it's confirmed otherwise, it's my personal headcanon that they know that the adult on Vermouth's dartboard and Ai Haibara are the same person, and maybe even that Shuichi gave them reports on Shiho's appearance while infiltrating the Organization. Yep—there's no evidence for it in the manga, and it can be claimed that Shuichi is secretive and that they think Sherry is just a seven-year-old.

Thing is, they haven't gotten a chance to talk to her because of just how uninvolved she's been since the end of the Vermouth arc. She wasn't at Haido Central Hospital. Plus, Shinichi/Conan is determined that she doesn't find out that Dai Moroboshi is Shuichi Akai.

Come on,she was in the center of the Bourbon arc(since Jodie said she was Bourbon's target),she also met the FBI agents several times (during the Rena mizunashi arc,and also in the Shrine case),not to mention that they know where she lives (they are not limited to the Haido Central hospital, they can move to see her XDXD) so if they knew who she really is,they would have told her something about Akemi's death(as I said apologies,or some kind of support since the FBI is kinda responsible of her death).

The fact that they still call her Ai or Sherry(because Vermouth called her that way) means they don't know her real name....As you said there is no evidence to support your theory so for now I'll stay with the idea that they don't know anything.

Btw an adult being turned into a child is a difficult concept to begin with, this is something unusual, not natural,so it's would be difficult for them to make that link, unless they know personally the victim or have sme proof (Akai made the link because he knew Ai/Shiho,and he could deduce that Shinichi=Conan by observing him closely) so it would be normal for the FBI to not make that connection.

  8. That's what I'm saying—that's it.

You mean that it's never really been addressed whether they know or not.

You'd think—again, you'd think, not know—that Shuichi would've told the others about her appearance (Shiho's). It's still unconfirmed whether the FBI knows that Ai Haibara is Akemi's sister.

Well you're talking about Shuichi, one of the most secretive person in DC world, who didn't tell his collegues that he faked his death..Of course he didn't say that Ai=Shiho=Akemi's sister,we can be sure of that.

(when Jodie/James talked to Conan about Akai's past in the BO,they didn't even mention Shiho's name, they talked about her as a high ranked scientist...if they knew Ai was Shiho and Akemi's sister, they would have mentionned it in front of Conan, considering he's close to Ai). Not to mention that they never talked to Ai,or apologized to Ai for what happened to Akemi, which makes me believe they don't know anything.

Anyway Akai wants to take care of it personally(Akemi's revenge+the promise) so I guess it's logical for him to not tell anything about Ai's conditions to his collegues (that would probably endanger Ai considering that the FBI is watched by the BO,so it's better for Ai to not tell them her secret, and Akai knows that)

  9. Again, we have no evidence that they know. They call her little girl, they assume Bourbon is after her because she is connected to the FBI and not because of what she could know as a rogue agent and the picture in the backround when Jodie and James talk in 677 is Ai, not Shiho. Yes, they could know and they probably should know, but as I stated, what characters could and should know is often not what they actually do know.

Exactly. They don't know that Ai is a shrunken adult, they only know that the BO call her Sherry, and she's connected to them in some way.But they don't know about her real situation.

  10. pretty sure that this is just a continuation of the joke that Haibara made at the very beginning of the Bourbon arc

where she asked Conan what kind of person Akai was, and when Conan wouldn't answer, she responded by asking if he was a lolicon

as an explanation of why Conan is keeping her away from him.

Yeah probably XDXD that was a funny moment btw.

  11. Since Gosho said there's a reason for Amuro dark skin. Maybe the change in appearance (skin colour+some plastic surgery!!) result in Sere didn't recognize amuro eventhough he taught her bass.

Just raising another possibility. I pernally think its Scoth since Amuro mention he's maybe not beter than "your brother friend".

Amuro didn't change his appearence(he has the same face as a child)

Maybe the meaning of his dark skin is that he's half japanese(which could be the reason why he was bullied as a child)

Sera should remember if her brother friend was Amuro...but she doesn't recognize him so I guess the Scotch possibility is stronger.Maybe Sera saw Scotch with Amuro one day which would explain their previous meeting....

  12. True enough. Although, he only said "Sera and Haibara both like the same person, hence their showdown/confrontation." and nothing that it will be the next climax or anything, so who knows what their 'showdown' will be...

Actually he said that in an old interview(it was in 2013 or 2012 IIRC)...he mentionned that the next climax after the Bourbon arc will be Ai/Sera confrontation, and that will be spectacular...but Maybe Gosho changed his plans,I don't know...

  13. But Sera and Ai have already met and talked to each other in the Mystery Train and nothing has come out of it.

Gosho said in an interview(and he confirmed that in his new year postcard in 2015) that there will be a confrontation between Ai and Sera...So apparently it's something important(I remember Gosho said it will be the next climax, and that would be spectacular...)

  14.

I don't know what to think about the spoilers...
I do like the fact that Amuro can play guitar well,it's kinda cool,,so at least we know something more about him.
But again we have another mystery, concerning Sera, with her mysterious brother's friend...it's a bit boring, considering that we don't even know who is her.
    middle bro.
And Amuro meets Sera but says it's the first time...well I don't know what's the point of putting them in a same case, considering that now we know he isn't a bad guy. I would rather see Amuro talking to Ai or Sera/Ai interactions.
Anyway,a girls band, why not...But I really hope the Mary thing will be mentionned.
